Uggh, it's so frustrating! I've googled every search phrase I can think of and this seems to be the only thread describing this exact issue. I'm always automatically logged into Facebook on my MBP but just to be sure I logged out and back in and it worked fine.
I gotta say, I wasn't a fan of the Droid I had preceding this iPhone, and from what I hear the iPhone app for FB is a thousand times better - not that I'd know personally because I can't log in!! - but I could always access my FB account on the droid. Just sayin...

Sorry you are having problems. First of all try Fifrefox's safemode.

If that works post back for further advice.
Next step, if safe mode did not work.
<u>First: Try a clean install, (you have had a none standard version installed previously)</u><br /> that involves deleting the program files. Then if necessary try troubleshooting by creating and using a clean empty Firefox profile.

    * this recent post [/questions/940399#answer-377134]
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Clean_reinstall
    <u>Second: try a New Profile</u>
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_Manager#Creating_a_new_profile
    * this will be an additional profile, it is still worth backing up any existing or currently working profile on a regular basis
**[[Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles]]
    * Until you are absolutely confident about the repercussions I suggest
** always use an empty folder when creating a new profile
** never delete or rename profiles, just disable or remove shortcuts
** after creating a new test profile open it and check for any addons or plugins that may be have been included by default

Launch Safari with the Shift key held down. If that doesn’t work, disconnect the computer from the Internet.

    Help whats wrong?
    Andreas

    Perhaps a login items issue.
Open System Preferences - Accounts then select the Login Items tab.
Delete all items by clicking then click -
If there's nothing listed there, go to /Library/Startup Items. Move any files in the Startup Items folder to the Trash.
    Restart your Mac.

  • I have reset my apple ID and password again still get a message when trying to download "cannot sign in" after entering password?

How do I download apps when I keep getting a message "cannot sign in" after entering my password ?

    Hey sklingen,
Thanks for the question. I understand you are experiencing issues signing into FAceTime. The following article may help to resolve your issue:
iOS: Troubleshooting FaceTime and iMessage activation
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4268
You may also want to reset your network settings:
Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Note: this will delete any network related settings (saved Wi-Fi passwords, etc), it will not erase any content from your device.
    Thanks,

    Hello @Ty-kie,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I have read your post on how your notebook freezes up after accepting the password to your computer, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter!

         a. KB2982791
         b. KB2970228
         c. KB2975719
         d. KB2975331
In addition, I recommend following this document on Computer Locks Up or Freezes (Windows 8). This should help prevent your system from crashing in the future.

  • Blank Screen after entering password

I seem to be encountering an intermittent issue when entering my password at logon.
I would enter the password and the little ‘busy’ circle would spin attempting log in but after a few seconds rather than seeing my desktop I just have a blank screen.
I can adjust the volume and hear the sound going up/down, but I cannot see anything.
If I restart or shut down the device, and then attempt to log in again sometimes the same issue happens or sometimes it logs into the desktop.
I have taken the device to an apple store for them to look into, disk diagnostics were performed and the OS X was re-installed but they then brought it down to a hardware issue without specifying which hardware.
I got a replacement MPB Retina however the problem still happens on that device pointing towards the OS X.
Is anyone else having this issue, have Apple recognised the problem and will there be a fix?
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
    Liam

I have a MacBook Pro that worked perfectly well on Snow Leopard.  However since upgrading to Mountain Lion, and it's updates, I have experienced a number of problems, including grey screens when changing from one account to another.  Force shutdowns are required to get back to normal.  I wonder is a re-installation of ML would fix the problems, but I don't know how to do that.  I have made a bootable copy from the installer, but would like some guidance on replacing 10.8.2 with 10.8.1.
    Robin.

  • After entering password I am directed to Darwin screen?

After loading the latest Safari update, I am now directed to the Darwin/BSD programming page when I enter my login and password. After that a line pops up with last login day date and time followed by the words "on console"
Next line is my "first name initial-last name-Computer:-first name initial last name$. I am at a loss as to what to do next!
Any idea how I can get a normal log on again so that I can start utilizing the mac?

Hi S Pete, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
The usual reason why updates fail or mess things up, is if Permissions are not fixed before & after every update, with a reboot... you may get a partial update when the installer finds it doesn't have Permissions to change one obscure little part of the OS, leaving you with a mix of OS versions.
Some people get away without Repairing Permissions for years, some for only days.
If Permissions are wrong before applying an update, you could get mixed OS versions, if Directory is the slightest messed up, who knows!
If many Permission are repaired, or any Directory errors are found, you may need to re-apply some the latest/biggest updates.
May even need to do an Archive and Install if you have room on the HD...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120
I only use Software Update to see what is needed, then get them for real via...
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/
That way I can wait a week or so, check the forums for potential problems, and get Permissions & such in order before installing.

  • C6380 error message after entering password for router

I have a C6380 printer and a Cisco router model WRT54G.  The router works fine with my laptop & my desktop.  When I do the istall from the printer it finds the name of my router but when I enter the password it said it was invalid.  I even changed the password on the router after the error message so I know it is correct.

Curious -- what device did you add?
By chance, are you using static IP addresses on your network?
    Let's try an experiment:
    1) Turn off the wireless-router.  BTW -- what model do you have?
    2) Turn off all network devices and computers connected to your network except the printer.
    3) Turn on the wireless-router.  Does the printer get a good IP address?  if so, then turn on the other computers and network devices.

  • Can't enter password to log in (grayed out).  (Oh, and I'm stupid.)   :o)

I have an iMac (G3, 10.3.something) that developed some issues and wouldn't allow me to do certain things so I created a root account to see if I could bypass some permissions hang-ups. I've done this before, no worries. This time, however, when I logged off my normal account and tried to log back in with root, the log-in box is grayed out and won't let me enter a password. (My admin. account had been recently set to require a password to complete a log-in.) I turned the iMac on in target mode and accessed the HD with my iBook but, now that I'm in there, I'm not sure where to go to turn off that "require password" feature in my admin. account. There's no visible "System Preference" panel to just click on. I was hoping to just do away with the root account and log back in without a password. Only now, I'm just standing around in there, now, scratching my head. Help?

No problem. I understand the problem now, although I don't have a certain solution.
You can try starting up in Safe Mode, to see if it makes a difference

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1455
If you are able to start up beyond the login window, run Disk Utility and use the +Repair Disk Permissions+ routine on your startup volume.
If the login problem is the same, you may want to start up using your Mac OS X installation disc. When you get to the Installer screen (after selecting language), go up to the menu bar. Under Utilities, select to run Disk Utility. On the +First Aid+ tab, run +Repair Disk Permissions+ on the startup drive. Normally, you should run +Repair Disk Permissions+ while started up normally, but you are not able to do so. Also run +Repair Disk+ while you are there.
Quit Disk Utility and try a normal restart.
