After erasing Macintosh HD and while trying for fresh installtion of Mac OS X Lion; can't see Macintosh HD at all
Dear Experts,
I will explain the problem step by step:
4 days back I ran Disk Cleanup software Onyx that deletes Cookies, Histry, and Unwanted Old files.
I may have choose some option which deleted some important file and since that day my Macbook Pro became slow.
2 days back it started to hang on startup. After startup chime spinning wheel go on spinning for eternity.
After trying all the corrections, yesterday I had to go for fresh install of OS. For that I had to erase earlier installed OS Mavericks. For this I followed below steps:
To Erase I had to restart the Macbook. After Chime I pressed Option key until I came to the disk Option. Then I followed below steps.
1) selected Disk Utility and then clicked Continue
2) Selected Disk (Macintosh HD) from the list on the left and clicked on Erase Tab
3) Selected Mac OS Extended (journaled) from the format pop up menu and clicked on Erase.
After performing above steps when I went back to Disk Utility to install fresh OS, I couldn't find Macintosh HD.
Please help me to over come this issue.

FaceTime is included in Lion. The App Store version is for 10.6. If you deleted it, restore it from a backup, or reinstall the Mac OS.

It's absolutley scandalous that a company with Apple's resources can let this happen. They should have staggered the release by region rather than opening the flood gates. The upgrade itself took me about 10 attempts to download it, and then I thought I was home free. That was until it rebooted and won't activate. It's over 2 hours now.

HI, SO I BOUGHT MOUNTAIN LION ON MY MACBOOK PRO TRYING TO UPGRADE FROM SNOW LEOPARD, AND WHILE TRYING TO REINSTALL THE OS SETUP AS IT SHOWED IT COULDNT BE VERIFIED, I CROSSED OUT MOUNTAIN LION FROM MY PURCHASES, ITS NOW GONE, DO I HAVE TO BUY IT AGAIN?
Please google search for "Mountain Lion disk crash" before upgrading you mac pro. You might need to replace you Mac hard drive after the upgrade.So many people had the same problems including me.
Be aware of the Mountain Lion upgrade problem. -
After connnecting Iphone to iTunes ( while trying to delete U2's album that Apple forced on all iOS users. ), all of my songs have been removed. How can I get them back?
I dont use iTunes since I have a windows laptop. I use CopyTrans , a program that basically emulates iTunes but is simpler. However it wouldnt allow me to delete U2s album from my phone.
After removing one song iTunes "updated" my phone's song list but in reality just deleted every song on it ( except for U2's atrocious album !!)
Is there any way I can get my songs back?
When I start up iTunes and CopyTrans the songs are still there. However when I attempt to play them they will not play?
ThanksIf you have a unencrypted boot hard drive and willing to buy another external powered drive and $100 software, the files can be recovered using this method and Data Rescue.

Has anyone had any kind of issue with their phone breaking after getting a message from Verizon, thereby requiring them to get a new phone, and hence, a new plan, that will be more expensive? I have an old plan, the Singlerate West 300 that they have been trying to get me off of for years. It's a great deal. Yesterday, after coming back into the country, my phone started to retrieve a message from 7770000001, which I found online is from VCAST/Verizon, and while trying to retrieve it, the screen suddenly failed so that now only the top quarter of the screen is visible, making it impossible to text or see contacts. I've been working on it on-line and with Verizon all day and my only options will all lead to me getting a new plan that is more expensive, even if I replace it with the same phone. New rule - you can't renew an old plan if it's not currently being offered. Is Verizon sending out software that can ruin a phone requiring a new one, with a new plan that's more expensive?

After upgrading the new operating system on my Droid Razr M it seems some useful features no longer work such as when typing a message the text anticipates the next word and when trying to delete individual messages from a contact, you can no longer tap and hold to select multiple message you have to delete them individually or the entire thread. Is there a way to get these back?
Well, that's kind of embarrassing. And I honestly thought I paid attention to that... It works perfectly now, thank you so much!
As expected, cdm-git also works fine since DMs only work in the root mode as of now.
Just for the record, both type commands output "/usr/bin/startx" and pacman -Q gives "systemd 215-4".

I have a white Macbook 2009 on OSX Lion. It came with the OSX Snow Leopard CD, I erased the HDD and am trying to install the OSX from disc but am getting "cannot install OSX from disc" message. What can I do?
I got the macbook from a friend a few years ago and it already had OSX Lion installed. Whenever it boots from the Snow Leopard disc it says it cannot install from disc. Is there anythingI can do or should I take it to an Apple store to get them to boot OSX Lion for me?Insert your Snow Leopard disc and restart, press and hold the C key as soon as you hearthe startup chime, hold C until you see the Apple Logo. When your computer starts up you'll be at the first install screen, choose your language and click the arrow to go to the next screen. This screen has a menu bar, from the Utilities menu select Disk Utility, select your hard drive, this is the one with the manufacturers name or numbers, click the partition tab and then delete any existing partitions by selecting them and clicking the minus. In the drop down box select one partition and click apply. Name your hard drive and click erase. When it's done quit DU and go back to the installer, install Snow Leopard. When the installer is done and the computer is back up and running run Software Update to get to 10.6.8

snap158.gif 13 KBI believe that by your action, you removed the compatability VIs and it would appear that the Find Examples used the older queue functions that require the compatability VIs. I would suggest you revert back to the LLBs that were distributed with 6.1. The new queue functions are there for you to use in new development and older VIs won't be broken. You could also make a request to NI support to see about an updated Find Example that uses just the new VIs.

Hi, cant update IO6. After downloading the update and processing it through Itunes on my mac.... and I have a factory unlocked Iphone 4S. Cant update the software. Waring message is say this devise is not eligible for build. Please help.
Download iTunes using the tab at the top of this page. Then run the update with iTunes closed.

I have iTunes on my Dell Vista 64 bit and while trying to burn a book to cd it keeps telling me to insert a blank cd when I have done that already. What do I need to do to get it to recognize a blank cd and continue with the burn?

I am a hold out to an I Pad. Help change my mind! I travel and while gone, for several months at a time, have always managed my photos on my laptop on a daily basis. This means deletions, naming, filing in folders. Is this possible on an I Pad? I have just returned from a 2 month trip with several thousand photos. If I had waited to name and file these until I got home, it would be misery.
The iPad is a great device but it can't do all things. To accomplish all the tasks you mention I feel a laptop is the best tool.

Can't see Macintosh HD when trying to reinstall
In short: Trying to reinstall Yosemite after erasing disk, can't see Macintosh HD when asked to select install disk, can I lay see recovery (which is locked). Can see disk under disk utility but no Erase tab visible, only First Aid and Partition tabs. In long: I've just today got my MBA 15", and I spent the day setting up things, including activating FileVault. I encountered the dreaded "connect power adaptor to resume encryption" bug (despite the progress bar having completed and then power adaptor indeed being connected. I thought, since I'd not installed much or put any data on, that the easiest solution was to erase the drive and reinstall OSX from recovery. I booted into recovery -> disk utility, chose the Macintosh HD, and went onto the erase tab. After trying to erase, I was met with an error message. I can't remember the details but I think it mentioned not being able to encrypt. I then went to the Reinstall OSX section, but where there was previously the option to select my Macintosh HD, there was now only my external HD. Going back to the disk utility, I can still see the Macintosh HD but there are now only First Aid and Partition tabs, and everything in the partition tab is greyed out. Rebooting the machine only changed one thing: under Reinstall OSX, when selecting a drive, the recovered rive is now visible (though locked). I'm worried I've bricked my 12 hour old baby, can you help me out? Thanks, Joe
Let me see if I have this straight:
Brand new 15" MacBook Air.
You activated FileVault, and the encryption process "froze" when you encountered a bug.
You decided to erase the drive, and re-install Yosemite, but the installer is not giving you Macintosh HD as an available option.
I've never encountered this bug that you speak of, and I've activated FileVault on several Macs over the years, so I can't speak to it directly.
My suggestion is to ensure you have a reliable power connection (ie. check that the power connector is on straight and there's no metal pieces stuck inside to the magnets), re-erase the drive, and then try install Yosemite again. -

Encryption wouldn't matter except for Wifi.
While 10.2 might help, there's not much you can do on the Internet these days with less than 10.4.11
