Update Server
Try:
- Powering off and then back on your router.
- iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
- Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
Public DNS — Google Developers
OpenDNS IP Addresses
- For one user uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes resolved the problem
- Try on another computer/network
- Wait if it is an Apple problem

  • Solution for making 5th gen iPod working under Win98

It seems that there is still a demand for using iPod with Windows 98.
So, thanks to Josh input, I have upgraded iPod Win98 drivers for 5th gen iPods.
Version 2.3 supports both a new video iPods and Nano being backward compatible with 3G, 4G, Mini and Shuffle.
Regarding iTunes replacements I've seen some users reporting success with Winamp iPod plugin v. 1.3.
    More info at http://win98.drivers.w.interia.pl/ipod.html

I know you said windows 98 but do you think it would work on window ME? i've got music on my old computer that i would like to transfer over without re-ripping the CD.

  • Should I wait for the 5th gen iPod Touch or keep my 64Gb 4th gen and not return it?

Bought a 32Gb iPod Touch and while it was being shipped I realized I'm going to need the 64Gb's if I plan on removing the music off of my 64Gb iPhone and putting it on the iPod and using my iPod as my music source. So I took it ot the Apple store last night and swapped it for the 64Gb. Well I got to thinking, this thing is just over a year old - a new one HAS to be on its way in the near future, right? Certainly they wouldn't go a full two years to refresh the iPod's with the A5 chips that have been out almost a year already. If they were to go with another September launch for the iPod but next year the A5 chip is almost irrelevant by then, A6 will be in the iPad 2S/3, A6 will be in the next iPhone ----- and then the old A5 would just be dropped into the iPod? Just doesn't make logical sense to me. I believe an iPod refreshment will be launched fairly soon, maybe a long side the next iPad release? What do you guys think? The way I'm just seeing it is that I don't really need the iPod right now, so that $400 credit could be used for even double the space the 64Gb has for the same price when the 5th gen launches? And whatever other bells & whistles the 5th gen will offer. I'd feel stupid for paying the $400 knowing I don't need it quite yet and that a refreshment could possibly be on the way soon. Thoughts?

It is all up to you.  I have not heard any announcement from Apple about a 5G iPod touch.  SInce you do not "need" then wait.

  • Recommend a case for a 5th gen iPod Nano

Just got a 5th Gen Nano and looking for a good case to protect it. I actually got one of these...
    http://www.amazon.com/Incase-Slim-Sleeve-iPod-Nano/dp/B002SK6M7A/ref=sr1_fkmr13?ie=UTF8&qid=1269585897&sr=1-3-fkmr1
...but it's hard to get to the controls with it.
Any suggestions for something to protect the iPod, but allows easy access to all the controls?

I use this one. Pros: Works perfectly. I like the clip on the end as I wear the iPod around my neck or clipped to a waist band if I don't have any pockets.
The leather is sturdy & not in the way of any of the controls. I do not have to remove the case to recharge, use click wheel, hold button & earplugs.
Case was free from the place I purchased my iPod from.
Cons: I have to remove the case to show people the color of my iPod & my custom engraving.

  • How do I get the 4.3.2 software update for my 2nd gen iPod touch

    How do I get it?

Update it from iTunes on a computer as described at the bottom of this article; devices running an iOS version prior to 5.0 can't be updated straight from the device.
The iPhone 3G and second generation iPod touch can’t be updated past 4.2.1.

  • Phone not working after firmware update for nokia ...

I tried updating my nokia 5800 today when the new firmware was released. i have already updated my other phone including another 5800. But when I updated the firmware of another 5800 (my 5800 through nokia software updater from pc/laptop), after the nokia updater application said that the update was successful, my phone showed the nokia logo with the new firmware version. It's supposed to reboot automatically and continue as normal but after waiting for like 15 minutes, my phone's still not turning on and still showed on the screen that the phone was not connected. That's when I unplugged it off from the USB cable and tried to turn it on, but it will just vibrate for a few seconds and then nothing! It won't turn on or work! I've tried to search on how to fix this problem but to no avail.. please help me.. is my phone going to work again?

  • Can I trade out my 4th Gen Ipod Touch, for the 5th Gen Ipod Touch?

I have an Ipod Touch 4th Gen that I bought in April with the warranty, and I was wondering if I could trade it in for the Ipod Touch 5 and pay a much smaller amount for it.

  • Unable to Update or Restore 5th Gen Ipod

I just bought a new ipod and have been unable to transfer music from my g5 to the ipod.
From itunes, under my ipod, it shows the playlists and all of the songs in the playlists are greyed out. It shows the capacity that the songs are on my ipod, but I can not see/play them on the ipod.
I followed the 5 R's, and am unable to do Restore.
From the itunes summary screen, the Update and Restore buttons are both greyed out, and it says only Macintosh-formatted ipods can be updated.
From the Ipod > Settings > About > Format - The format shows as Windows, and I am unable to switch to mac.
I have the latest versions of Tiger and itunes.
    Thanks

try opening Disk Utility (with your iPod plugged in) and repair disk permissions on both the iPod and your main hard drive.

  • I forgot my passcode for my 5th gen ipod and it won't restore because the 'Find My iPod' feature is on. What should i do?!?!

I changed my passcode for my iPod but I have forgotten what it is. I tried to restore my iPod through iTunes but it won't because the Find my iPod feature on iCloud is on. What should i do?!

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

  • Docks for the 5th Gen. iPod

I am in need for an iPod dock to charge the iPod and to play the iPod out loud. The iPod dock should be reasonably price nothing outrageous priced. The iPod dock should have the ability of running on batteries but more important it should be able to plug in the wall. An extra but nice thing would be to charge the iPod with the case on. I was wonder if there are any good docks with all that and has good reviews by the consumer.

It is all up to you.  I have not heard any announcement from Apple about a 5G iPod touch.  SInce you do not "need" then wait.

  • HELP!!! After faulty update of BB's 8310 OS computer no longer recognizes usb device

i can tell more about it: i had a BB 8310 with working 4.2.2 OS, later i updated it to newest 4.5 version (i updated it using  newest apploader 4.5)  and it worked fine, but when i installed desktop software 4.5 and uploaded one game second programs action was - it said: updateing system software, i thought maybe it had found some more new system software or something. After that it had rebooted the BB, computer said "completed succesfully" , but the phone didn't start - it went all white and said "549" error. everything i thought would be fixable, but from that point computer doesn't seem to recognize my phone. i did all the possible steps i could find on forums, like: puting baterry in and while the led is red puting mini usb cable in, but nothing seems to work. Is it fixable? i know for i fact that the cable is working. Please good people - help.

OK...even though 549 is not documented in the RIM KB's, it sounds like your BB got bricked in the attempted update process. Here are some articles that might help you recover it:
