After Fixing Update Images lost to unsupported format

Like everyone, I had Aperture go buggard after update. Don't even get me started on that mishap. Several library fixes later to no avail, deleted Aperture and downloaded from App Store. One more library fix and Apeture opens once again. However, I now have a listing of recovered projects that report that the photo is an "unsupported image format". Little over 200 photos effected. I tried to reprocess but no help. I downloaded backup from offsite but still shows same message. I moved backup to lightroom which opens files and displays image but cannot edit. I cannot think of a bigger screw up since I started using Apple. I have a call in to Apple scheduled for Sat, but was hoping to get some useful information before that in an attempt t save my photos.

Are all your Sony 850 and a nex 5n images unsupported, or only the 200 "lost & found images" and other sony raw files are ok? Are you able to open Sony images at all?
Can you tell by the filenames, if the unsupported images are duplicates of images that are o.k.?
After a rebuild Aperture shows all stray images, that are not connected to current versions in a kind of Lost&Found folder - usually these are redundant images that you can delete and forget (after making a backup of them just in case). Look at the dates and filenames and check, if you have good versions of them.

I am living in Denmark, and these days I'm in California for work/holidays.
I stupidly accepted the update proposed by my phones (in the setting menu). There was no warning at all about the fact I will need to conect it to iTune after that, otherwise, I am not that stupid, I would never have do it!
Now I just cannot use my phone as it need to be reset from iTune (not installed on the computer I have with me)... So:
1. I probably lost all my pictures since last time I plugged synchronized my phone when I was in Denmark
2. I cannot get my work and personal emails
3. iPhone, as its name mentioned it a phone... how do I phone when my screen shows "connect to iTunes" ???
4. I will drive a few 100s miles in US... how do I acces my music when my screen shows "conect to iTunes"
What the #### is that?
Where is the HQ of Apple? As I'm in CA, maybe I should go there and throw it through one of their windows?
I bet that there is no way to downgrade my phone as it was before?
Can somebody call my boss, my parents and my girlfriend that I will give signs of life when I'll be back to Denmark? And ask them not to blame me of fire me?
Seriously, until now I was really happy about Apple products, despite their restrictions, but this is definitely too much!

On the screen on the iPhone does it show a usb cable pointing up to the iTunes synbol?. If it does then your iPhone is in recovery mode and needs to be restored through iTunes on a PC/Mac.
Now in terms of the data you lost, would you know if you backed it up to iTunes/iCloud?. Did you sync data with iCloud at all? e.g. contacts, calendars.

Itunes restarted after computer update and lost every thing

I recently updated my computer ( macbook with a mac os x 10.5.8 ) . one of the updates was for the itunes.
after i restarted every thing somthing went wrong with my itunes and now it looks like i have itunes 8 .
all my playlists are gone and all my iphone data is gone as well. i can not conect my iphone to itunes ( it doesnt recognize it at all ) and i can't conect itunes to the internet for some reson.
please help !

You should be able to:
Backup the device
Transfer any purchases from the device that were not already downloaded into your new library
Recover any other media using third party tools as suggested in this post from forum regular Zevoneer
Restore the device from the backup
This process should switch the association of the device to the new library, preserving the data and settings in your apps.
May also be prudent to attempt a backup to iCloud directly from the device before you start... Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > iCloud Backup > On. It won't save any media but it would preserve the general account settings and documents in case anything goes wrong while you are trying to extract your other data.
When you get it all fixed, make a backup!

After firmware update: I lost all my contacts and I can't use contacts. What can I do?

Yesterday I did update to Firefox OS 1.1.0.0 rev. 01061. Then all my contacts were missing. So I tried to add contacts again but was impossible to use the contacts application because always that I pressed the done button, after filling contact information, nothing happened, the contacts list was still empty. I tried importing contacts from SIM card, the application show me a progress but finally the contact list was empty.
Is it possible to downgrade the firmware?

Thanks very much for the log file you provided before this, I really appreciate it and I apologize for my late reply. I believe we have found this bug and provided a fix in a new build, https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=938564, but I don't know when this will become available in an update to your device.
You can try to factory reset, in the meantime, but you will loose data and have to re-configure your apps even if the contacts app is not restored to normal.
I suggest that you return the device to the shop where you purchased it, to let them know that the official update caused the problem and request that they fix the device. I apologize for this inconvenience.

After latest update ive lost books from merged accounts

I recently updated my ipad, (because of the U2 download I wanted out of my account) when I did I lost books I have had in there since my wife and I merged accounts in 2012. Not to mention that the videos I have paid for wont play, does anyone have any idea what I can do are the books just gone?

Updating your iPad would not have anything to do with deleting the U2 album so I'm not sure what you mean by that. You purchased books should be downloadable again for free in the purchased section of the iBooks Store or you should be able to sync them back from iTunes, if you use iTunes with your iPad. You cannot merge accounts, so I'm not sure what that means either.
Perhaps if you would explain in just a little more detail what happened it would help.

After Mavericks update I lost a lot of files!

I did Mavericks free update and I started to have the following problems: firs, it asked me to do a new computer login, instead of keeping my data form previous Mac OS X I had in my 2.8Ghz Quad-Core Intel Xeon Mac Pro.
Then, After two attempts, I noticed that all files I had in my Desktop have gone, with all my Notes and my system hard drive.
Could You Help me to find my stuff? Or It was a big mistake to update while was everything ok? Is there any way to recover those files or to downgrade to the old Mac OSX?

After I updated software lost Arabic Language

I bought a Nokia 6300 from Dubai and the orignal language was Arabic , then I made software update ( updated to 550) but after that I found the languages are only (English, French and Portgees)
in order to get the Arabic back I have tried to restore it to the orignal factory setting but without any success.

Your phone was originally manufactured for a region where French and Portugese is spoken (English is always on every device).
Then someone imported it to an Arabic speaking country and illegally updated the firmware.
When you used NSU, the upgrade used the information on the phone (product code) to install the latest version of the original firmware.
You can ask if a Nokia repair center in an Arabic speaking country can help you.
Or you can return the device to the seller and ask for a device that was originally also intended for an Arabic speaking country (or you can buy a new one from a reseller that sells legally imported devices).

After Mavericks update I lost photos that had been edited in PSE6

Using PSE6 I updated Mac to OSX Mavericks and over 80 of my recently edited pics disappeared. In PSE6 I can click on open recently edited and only 20 of the previous 80 edited pictures show there. Does anyone know how to find the rest of my photos? I did back up to external hard drive before installing new OS. Apple can't help me.

I have never gotten the edit in photoshop to work properly in the
elements 8 organizer. I have the same problems you describe and while
there might be an easy solution, i haven't found one.
In the elements 7 and 9 organizers, everthing works fine as far as
the edit in photoshop function goes.
Since you say you have not activated elements 8, does that mean
you just wanted elements for the organizer?
You might do just as well downloading the pse9 trial and see if
it works any better, which for me it does. The elements 9 version
even opens camera raw files with the dialog into cs5, unlike previous
versions of the organizer.

No audio after ICS update.

After ICS update, have lost audio playback. In settings, speaker has single line crossing thru it showing audio is muted. Can not unmute audio. Same for audio 'alerts'. Have rebooted and pulled battery to no avail. Ideas?

I also have the same problem with the sound going in an out and lines through the speaker/notification etc. I called tech support and they actually told me to come on this forum and look for solutions, because the update has problems. I certainly didn't really understand that message...45 minutes waiting on hold to tell me to check the boards. Oh well. Any answers let us all know. :-)

Camera RAW support 2.2 update and Nikon .NEF unsupported image format

I Use a Nikon D2x and only take raw images (.NEF file)
After I update from RAW support 2.1.1 update to RAW support 2.2 update, all my raw image file (.NEF file) taken before 13th September 2006 ! would not display - In the Aperture program, if i navigate to a project / folder and clicked on a thumb nail in the browser, I get a magenta / cyan screen showing in the main viewer panel with unsupported image format. ?
This is my worst-case scenario ! - I have entrusted Aperture with all my digital images (all raw .NEF) images taken before 13th September 2006 are un accessible with camera RAW support 2.2 update installed !
I have deleted (the 2.2 update) “from” System/Library/CoreServices/RawCamera.bundle and reinstall the RAW support 2.1.1 update.
* NOW I can now see all my raw Nikon .NEF images and they are now all fully functional again *.
Their is a problem with the Apple digital camera RAW support 2.2 update, it rendered the Aperture program useless to me for my older .NEF image/files (as above).
This requires a fix ASAP

Thankfully, I wasn't affected by the issue given I'm currently with Canon. There have been Canon woes in the past though.
On a side note, I never update anything until it has been out for a few weeks just to be sure. Because Aperture is such an integral component of my studio and business, I make sure everything always works before making any updates or changes - including upgrading cameras.
I'm sure the next update will fix the magenta issues.

Aperture 2 and Unsupported Format After Image Adjustments

I was making tonal adjustments to a Nikon D3 RAW photo in "Browser Only" view mode. When I closed the adjustments HUD, the image was replaced with the red "Unsupported Format" window. I had to restart Aperture to get back to the photo. Sounds like an interesting bug.
Anyone else seen this?

Same issues here: Canon D5, after some editing I was getting the red block; and a restart of Aperture cured it (for now)
As mentioned in the other thread: maybe it has to do with setting the camera to store both the RAW and a (small) .jpeg? I haven't seen it appear in another series imported just before - and edited just before in Aperture - where the camera only stored the RAW on the card...
Any more experiences?
