After hard drive transfer of itunes folder from old computer, music not showing in itunes on new mac

Hi,
I have just used the external drive method to transfer my itunes library from the old mac to my new macbook pro. I moved the whole itnues folder into the music folder, as directed, having removed the empty itunes folder than was there by default on the new macbook. But when I open itunes, none of the music appears, even though it is now in the right place. I am just offered the splach screen to 'scan for media', the same as when I opened iTunes when the computer first arrived. If I do that, I'm worried it's going to pick up everyting on the computer, and I only want my old itunes library to work!
As I understand it from the instructions here:

Try copying the iTunes folder from your old computer again. Then, open iTunes holding the Option (Alt) key, so it will ask you for the library. Just go to the folder where the iTunes library is, and select it, so the songs should load correctly

The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync.

How can I get iCloud purchases that I've deleted from my computer to NOT show up with the new iTunes?

I've downloaded a lot of free indie music through itunes, and itunes has graciously stored all of my purchases on iCloud. The thing is, I deleted A LOT of that music from my computer, but not from iCloud, and now it's all showing up again. Is there a way I can get rid of the stuff I've deleted, without doing it one by one?

I had a similar problem when I updated to iTunes 11. The problem seems to have been solved by doing the following:
Edit > Preferences > Store. Then unclick "Show iTunes in the Clous purchases". I hope it works!

I am trying to get my old library onto my new computer and the best way for me to do that is take them off of my I Phone 3gs and "transfer purchases" but when I try it the "authorize this computer " shows up and it is already authorized! How did you import the photos to iPad and iPhone?
If the photos have been synced to the iPhone and iPad using iTunes, you cannot sync them back.

You can't reimport pictures synced from your computer to your device back to your computer. You can only import pictures in the Camera Roll or Saved Photos from your device to your computer. If you need to retrieve synced photos from your device:
If your photos are not in the Camera Roll on your devices, save them to the Camera Roll, share them to the Photo Stream, mail the photos, or, if you have iPhoto on the devices, use iTunes Photo Sharing.

How can i transfer my iTunes library from old computer to new with all artwork and tags intact?

Is it possible to just copy the iTunes folder on my Windows PC from the old computer to a hard drive and then to the new Mac Book, and have the library look the same? Importing the files using the "add folder to library" function results in many files coming up with "unknown artist" and/or "unknown album." But I didn't think just copying the iTunes folder from one computer to the other would work, without somehow also using the "add folder to library" function.
I know there are other questions on site (one by me, actually), but I was hoping for any more information. Many thanks, in advance.

Can I export my sidecar files to two or more hard drives at the same time from one computer? How do I do this, if it is possible?

Each image is imported into the LR Catalog from just one stated location on disk. And that is where the sidecar gets written.
But if you want, outside of LR, you can have a file sync utility replicate all physical changes within those folders on disk, into other corresponding locations on other drives - which hold a copy of all the same images, and a copy of the sidecars too. This might happen continuously, periodically or on demand depending on the particular tool you use... for example, the Dropbox desktop app.
If you also want to have your LR Catalog replicated, I think this can only be done when LR is not running and using that.

I just got a new Dell Inspiron 1720 laptop with Vista. I want to move my ITunes library over from the old HP desktop with XP to the new laptop. Three Questions:
1) Is there a relatively easy way of doing this?
2) If yes, what are the steps?
3) 99% of my library is comprised of songs that I have uploaded from CDs, not purchased from ITunes... does that make a difference?
I'd prefer not to have to reload all of my cd's onto the new computer.

Probably the most straightforward way to get iTunes onto your new computer is to network it with the old one and copy your iTunes folder across. This works fine if you have been using iTunes to completely manage your music and all your songs are in iTunes Music not in different folders. You can also use this method with an external hard drive, you drag the folder from the old computer to the external drive and then from the drive to the new computer. If the songs in your library are not all in the iTunes Music folder you can consolidate them. When you consolidate, any songs in the iTunes Library that are not in the iTunes Music Folder are copied to the Music Folder and the Library is updated to point to those new files. Have you copied your content over from your old computer and onto the new on ? If not, and you still have your old computer, then there a number of methods described on this page which you can use to copy your library over : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527 . If you no longer have your old computer then have you got a backup of your content that you can copy onto the new computer and add into iTunes ?

Do you get this window when you hold down the Command+Option keys and launch iPhoto?
If not then you're not holding down both keys long enough.
