After hitting the space bar in Finder no Quicklook

On my Imac with OS 10.6.8 installed Quicklook stopped working completely. After hitting the space bar in Finder nothing happens at all. What could cause that problem?

Upgrading will NOT fix a problem. That needs to be resolved first to the point you have a stable system. I'd recommend doing a SMC and PRAM reset, if it doesn't work the first time you may have to do it 2-3x. Also restart in Safe Mode (hold down the shift key when you hear the startup gong and continue holding it until the progress bar appears).
SMC RESET
Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and all peripherals.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
Release the power button.
Attach the computers power cable.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
PRAM RESET
Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.

i have the exact problem in my computer lab running macpro on 10.6.8 using CS5... this is happening in every ADOBE CS5 software using sound : soundbooth, AEX, premier pro. this is totaly ridiculous, nothing like that is happening in the other software (finalcut, finalcut xpress, audacity, soundtrack pro all are working fine) ...

Why do none of the links that I put in my outgoing yahoo emails no longer underline themselves and become live when I finish typing them and hit the space bar?

Previously, when I typed my email address in an outgoing email or cut and pasted a link from my browser bar the link would become 'live' when I hit the space bar or 'enter' key. The link would turn blue and underline itself and the person receiving the email could just click on that live link and be taken to the site. Now the link does not turn blue or underline itself and the receiver must cut and paste the link into their browser bar to use it.
Why? I did not change anything in Yahoo or Mozilla.
I have deleted and reinstalled Java to no effect. I am using html in Yahoo.

As it turns out, many others have been having similar issues on other browsers. It seems that maybe Yahoo! is taking a much longer time to load or something like that. Either way, its been working on and off all week, and the same issue even showed up yesterday with IE 8 instead of FF. It still loads faster than IE 8, but again is spotty. Some people think the issue may be with mail.yimg.com or s.yimg.com, which I could see was the loading url in the left corner whenever Yahoo! Mail was refusing to work. A couple of people said blocking it caused the issue. Alternatively, some people suggested blocking it to solve the problem. Does anyone have any information on that? Again, I have no add-ons that would be blocking any urls, and my firewall hasn't any records of it. I really don't want to do anything to mess up my browsers more than they may have already been. Messaging girlfriend can see 3 dots when she is replying but disn't get a reply. I no she may of hit the space bar, but she said she wasn't typing anything, could it be bad signal ?

Beach ball when i hit the space bar

Hi All,
I have a song that freezes logic when i push the space bar to play. i open the song, cue it to the beginning, press the space bar and bam. spinning beach ball.
I've been working in Logic for about a year now and have finished dozens of songs and this is the first time I've had this problem. And this particular song is far less complicated then many others so i'm not sure what the problem is

What happens in a new user? What happens in Safe Mode? How about if you wipe the system, start clean and proceed from a clean OS before the migration? Any change?

I have been able to wake my macmini by hitting the space bar - but since installing 10.7.4 using the 1.4Gb combo this wake method no longer works. Now the macmini shuts down, and I have to switch mains power off and on again before powering up the macmini

Since purchase of my macmini (2011 model) I have been able to wake it from sleep by hitting the (wired) keyboard space bar.
However, I recently updated the OS to 10.7.4 using the combo (1.4Gb) update, since when I cannot wake the macmini in that way.
Now, after putting the macmini to sleep, pressing the spacebar causes it to shut down.
I then have to switch mains power off and on again at the wall socket, after which the macmini starts up from shutdown condition.
I am by no means an expert, and have not been fiddling with settings, so I am in need of advice on what could need resetting to allow me to return to the previous simple 'wake up' approach!

4. Attach the computer's power cord.
5. Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.
Followed by resetting the PRAM > Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
1. Shut down the computer.
2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
3. Turn on the computer.
4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
6. Release the keys.
Then if those do not fix the problem, you may need to reset your Energy Saver and Keyboard Preferences by readjusting them.

Why does the page change when I hit the space bar?

I didn't have this problem until I reinstalled the operating system

I can't even see where that setting is.. for my information all the footage is from a GoPro so what I've had to do is convert them to .mov and Apple ProRes 422 now. Now when I have them in final cut the samples in 'All Clips' and in the time line look ok in till I hover over them and then they have the red hint again, they do how ever export the right colour now but this is going to make colour correction difficult

Get the letter "B" after double tapping the space bar.

How do I stop the B? It's either hit or miss. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't.

If after step #3 you're still having problems contact Apple support and make an appointment at your nearby Apple Store to have it checked out.
If you have the problem with another device then I'm betting the problem is on the user-side and not the phone-side.

Emails get sent in Mail when pressing the space bar whilst spell checking

Why do emails get sent in Mail when pressing the space bar whilst spell checking ?? This is beyond annoying. It's been happening for ages on my MBP. I have seen others complain and I can't understadn why this simple bug has not been fixed. Any help on this would be very much appreciated. thank you.

In composing I have Check Spelling "when I click send" selected. I tried on my iMac, my Mail account is sync'd via iCloud etc.. I got the same thing, when you hit send and review your spelling, I need to do that a lot, as well as insert missing words. As soon as you hit the space bar off goes the email. I have seen others complain of this on the google. I have now switched to check as I type but when i make a typo Mail just puts a red line under the word, it doesn't open up the Spell Checker dialog.
Is there away of resetting my Mail Apps database ? MAybe something is corrupt.

Besides DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Creative Suite 6 is the only software on the machine. I am using Windows 7 Professional 64-bit Operating System on AMD FX 6100 six-Core Processor at 3.31gHz and 32 GB RAM memory. There are two SLI-bridged GTX680 NVidia cards.
The software was very stable for the last six months, working with 720P proxy files from 2.5K masters (Blackmagic Design Camera). I am working on a feature-length project that exceeds 1000 edits. I have broken the file into 2 one hour segments.
I have deactivated the software before reinstalling the entire OS from scratch. PP6 was very stable for 48 hours. Then the freezing space bar returns. After a dozen strokes into the project, same problem. I have made cache files store next to originals, I have deleted preview files if they were corrupted and causing instability. Am I missing something?
I have Microsoft Security Essentials for virus protection. I double checked the memory for damage/defect. Nothing says that the motherboard or other components are damaged.
I am in film competition overseas and need to have deliverables in less than a month's time. I lost the last two weeks troubleshooting and this crisis came at an inopportune moment of the project.

Still getting software freezes but found a way to mitigate for the mean time.
Upon launching Adobe Premiere Pro, hit CTRL-ALT-DEL to launch TaskManager as well.
You will want to highlight Adobe QT32 Server.exe
Right click and select "End Process Tree"
You will get considerable stability in the program, long enough to get timing of cuts done. Be sure to save often.
If the program freezes, do not hit Save. You definitely want to avoid saving the corruption into your TimeLine
CTRL-ALT-DEL to relaunch the TaskManager and highlight Adobe Premiere Pro.exe
Right-click to "End Process"
No need to reboot the whole system; just launch Premiere Pro again and continue with the session. Note that your work reverted to Last Save.
Hope this helps until the bug is fixed.

string before = standard space
string after = EN QUAD ($2000)
or EM QUAD ($2001)
or EN SPACE ($2002)
or EM SPACE ($2003)
In the first line,
between a & b I inserted a standard space
between b & c I inserted an EN QUAD
between c & d I inserted an EM QUAD
between d & e I inserted an EN SPACE
between e & f I inserted an EM SPACE
In the second line,
between a & b I inserted a standard space
between b & c I inserted two standard spaces
between c & d I inserted an EM QUAD
between d & e I inserted two standard spaces
between e & f I inserted an EM SPACE
So, it seems that EN QUAD or EN SPACE give the exact wanted space.
Now, it's time for me to try to find the difference between EN QUAD and EN SPACE
According to Wikipedia, they are identical but EN SPACE and EM SPACE are the preferred ones.
