After I delete a message, it doesn't always go into Trash bin but disappears.
In a number of instances, when I delete an e-mail from my Inbox, it doesn't appear in Trash but completely disappears--usually it's one I decide I need to look at it again. Most of my real junk mail stays in my Trash folder until I empty the Trash folder.
I have this same problem, but for one message, not a bunch. I hit only the delete key or I click on the delete icon on the message itself. But when I go to look for it in Trash, it's not there, and can't be found anywhere. Any ideas? Thanks

Every mac has a main menu bar with the -menu in the upper left corner of the screen. This menu has the "About this Mac" menu entry. Have a look.
Don't post your serial numbers here in the public forum, but your MacOSX version and GarageBAnd version would be good to know.
And how the **** do I delete garage band stuff - it won't go to the trash bin but just keeps saying it is 'stopping' but never does.
What exactly are you trying to trash? The GarageBand application, or GarageBand projects?
If moving to the Trash is stuck, relaunch your Finder:
Go to the -menu and select "Force Quit". From the panel select "Finder" and press "Relaunch". This will quit any copying or trashing and you can try again. But what do you want to delete? There may be a permissions problem. -
How do I restore column headings in Response table after accidently deleting them? Undo doesn't work (only seems to go back one level). I also have so many headings I won't be able to type them in manually!
With the help of information from user, ptressel, in [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1032154#answer-673322 a post here about the existence of sessionstore.js when version 33 was released], I was able to easily recover my tabs and tab groups as follows:
# close Firefox and, perhaps, allow a few seconds (30s?) for any final closing of files;
# check to see if you have a sessionstore.js file in your profile folder, named like the one I documented in my original post above;
# if it is not timestamped prior to the discovery of your problem, open the sessionstore-backups folder;
# check if the recovery.js file is suitably timestamped and, if not, the recovery.bak.
# At this point, you are likely to find that none of them are prior to your problem occuring. If so, open your backups of this folder and go through steps 2-4 to find a file prior to your problem occuring.
# When you find a file, copy it to the root of your current profile folder and name it, "sessionstore.js"
# Open Firefox. Mine opened up as desired.
This is a Windows solution. Sorry I can't comment on other platforms, but I'd bet that as this is just a file copy and renaming, it is likely the same.
For Windows users, you may find you need to sign out and login as an administrator in order to access the backups. You need not logoff your standard account, but do have Firefox closed as described above.

I have dragged 2 files to the trash bin but I cannot delete them from the trash bin. It keeps telling me these files are in use when they are not. How do I delete these files? One is a txt file and the other is an xls file

Hard Drive is full. Didn't empty trash bin but can't see deleted files.
My MBP Retina is warning me that hard drive is full. I have deleted large files, but they don't appear in trash. Can't see them in folder either. But memory issue persists. Never emptied trash bin, but still can't see them.
I have the same problem. My hard drive is full and my trash appears empty. When I drag items to trash it makes the sound but the file doesn't delete and or appear in the trash can. I've tried holding down "option" to empty, going to Finder and holding "shift+command+option" but nothing happens.

I am having trouble deleting certain pictures on my IPad. They are jpeg pics but by selecting them individually under the photo icon or by using iphoto they will not delete. No trash can icon will highlight to drag them to. I believe there may be dublicate pictures so when I select no trash can appears. I can change to a different date with no dublicate pic and trash can appears. I am doing a backup of my Ipad and maybe I have to go to factory default and start over!!
How did these pictures get on the iPad?
If they were synced to it through iTunes on a computer, then the only way to delete them, is to un-sync them the same way. -
I deleted application folder of Illustrator CC tryout by mistake. I should have run adobe installer but I didn't.
After that, I could not uninstall Illustrator CC and also I could not install CS6.
When I tried to install CS6, installer does nothing after entering serial number.
OS: Mac OS Maverick on Macbook ProI did run Adobe cleanup and confirmed that Illustrator CC has been removed but installation doesn't work.
When I click on install button after putting in serial number and login with Adobe ID, nothing happens.
It is frustrating. I couldn't even install the program yet. -
Message filltering doesn't always work!
I recently installed Thunderbird on a new computer, and copied the relevant directories than contained all the messages/account information from my old PC's Thunderbird installation to my new one. I did have to re-enter the account passwords, but after that all seemed to be working OK.
I have now noticed that some of the automatic message filtering that I had previously set up doesn't work and that the messages are left in the inbox. If I 'Run filters on folder' then the filters work, and the messages are moved to the correct folders accordingly.
FYI, I have 10 Mail accounts, all using POP. One of the accounts has its own dedicated inbox, all the others use the local folders inbox. (This dedicated inbox accounts filters only seem to work manually). Of the remaining 9 accounts, one is filtered by it's account name, the other 8 are filtered via the Local Folders filter. I have 294 filters in total.
All filters have the 'Manually Run' and 'Getting New Mail' tick box's checked and 'Filter before Junk Classification'.
I would have linked my problem with the Forum Question 'If I apply mail filters for message body , the filters stop applying automatically', however my problem appears to be random, and doesn't just apply to message body filters.
Has this problem been caused by the transfer of the accounts from one computer to another, or has this transfer just shown up a bug?
Am I likely to have to Identify which of the filters aren't working and have to re-enter them? (With 294 filters with a potential problem, this would take ages!). And would this cure the problem?ok some background and some ideas.

Thunderbird stores all mail in a single files per folder, as these files get parger something functions just don't work.
Exclude the profile folder from on access scanning in your anti virus package and see if that helps. The getting of mail requires the update of the underlying MBOX files for each folder affected by that mail. If the anti virus is locking the files for scanning while Thunderbird is indexing and filtering the result can be unpredictable.
Thinking about the software you have installed, is there anything else that might be scanning file when they are accessed (MAlware detectors, keystroke monitors, net nanny type content filters etc) -
I want to delete certain emails on my Ipad but not on my mac. Right now when I delete message on ipad it moves message on mac to trash also. Can I change this?
If this is an IMAP account, that is how it is supposed to work. The whole point of IMAP is to keep your email synchronized across multiple access devices.
Instead of trash, you could move those files to a new IMAP folder you create, something like "ignore on iPad" folder. -

Ok, it sounds like you will need to start over - make sure you have a backup of your important files, pics, etc. because you have to erase the drive.
Once you have a backup, try this (it should work since you say the original system was Lion):
Press Command + Option + R keys while booting up or restarting - this will show you a rotating globe and you should be able to access Apple's servers. Once you're booted up and connected, choose to open Disk Utility and erase your entire hard drive. When that is finished, it should be ready to reinstall the original system. This will take a while because it has to download the whole thing. Once you're finished with that, run Software Update. When that is finished, you can put back the files you backed up.
After you make sure that everything is working, then you can download Mavericks or Mountain Lion - whichever one you want. -

When I log into the 4500 switch with my domain account, I get priv 1 only and have to “enable” with the local enable password to get to priv 15. How do I set this up to get directly to enable? The ACS 5.1 is setup with a authorization/shell profile for Priv 15, no problems there.

Is there anyway to recover deleted text messages without a backup?
I have an Iphone 3gs. I desperately need to recover deleted text messages from it. I have never synched my phone to itunes, "automatically synch to itunes" has always been unchecked. I had never made a back up until a few days ago, but i need to recover the messages deleted prior to creating the backup. is this possible at all? thank you
