After I edit a raw file in Lightroom 5 and with raw 8.5, the edited files revert back to being unedited. Any ideas?

What little symbol? Do you mean the up-arrow symbol that appears top-right of grid or film strip images? This indicates that the image has been edited by another program.
Or do you mean the "+/-" symbol that appears bottom right?. This appears after editing, but if it disappears subsequently without you doing anything, it sounds like something nasty is happening to the catalogue or image xmp file on disk.
Lightroom doesn't use ACR (8.5 or any other version) - it has the same functions built-in. ACR is used only by Photoshop. Are you opening the images in ACR in Photoshop?

Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop and Bridge does not recognize the raw files from my new Canon Mark III 5D Camera. How can I get my files open to view and edit? When I try opening the raw images in Lightroom, the thumbnails say "Preview unavailable for this file" ... when I click "import" an error message pops up that says "The files are from a camera which is not recognized by the raw format support in Lightroom."

Unless I missed an announcement, today, LR6 isn't available, yet, right? Only Adobe employees and beta testers would know what LR6 does differently at this point and they're all sworn to secrecy.
LR5 is available as a standalone version.
PS-CS6 is available as a serial-number-licensed version.
PS-CC + LR5 are also available as a Photography Plan subscription for $10/month with a minimum OS versions of OSX 10.7 (and probably 10.8, soon) and Windows 7.
Bridge is part of PS, not a separate program.

Reading the FAQ, it appears that after the expiry of the free trial, if I do not sign up and pay, I will only be able to view my pictures on the desktop but not edit them - surely this cannot be true. When I was signed into Adobe (which was a requirement for installing the upgrade), Lightroom 6 told my at the top right corner that I had 30 days left of my free trial of Lightroom Mobile and Creative Cloud. In parallel with this forum posting, I am chatting with Adobe support. he is away to find out how to prevent any synching with Creative Cloud during the 30 day free trial. I do not think that Creative Cloud is an application that gets installed on your PC. For your addressbook, export the files to vCard on the PowerMac, then bring them over to your Mac Pro. For your iPhoto, copy the Users -> yourname -> Pictures folder to your Desktop on the Mac Pro, and open iPhoto on the Mac Pro holding the command and option keys. Select the library file from that Pictures folder and open it. It should import all the pictures into iPhoto as part of the rebuild process. I'm sure there will be support for the camera eventually. But Adobe never announces that information in advance. It's possible that it could be added to the 8.7 final release and to the next update of Lightroom. But that depends on the timeline and if the engineers were able to get the camera in time to create profiles. You'll just have to wait and see.

heidie22, dj_paige has a very good point there. I would not through away the NEF files; I would archive them to a external drive.
By the way, I am assuming that converting RAW files to DNG is a decision you have made and not an accident.

Yes, you have to find the catalog file from the CC trial (use your operating system to search for it, the file name ends with .LRCAT), and then once you find it, open the LR5 trial and open the catalog you just found using File->Open Catalog

Keynote files revert back to 3.0.2.

Every time I save my keynote files they revert back to iWork '06 version (3.0.2).
I've already read "Topic : Keynote 3.03 and 4.01" and it does nothing, I've tried on different files, everything.
When I try to associate the file with 4.0.2 it recognizes it. The only way it will keep it is if I manually change every file. And if I change or re-save it, I have to do it again. I don't want to do this with every file, every time.
When I tell it to open all files with 4.0.2 I get this message: "Are you sure you want to change all similar documents to open with the application 'Keynote'? This change will apply to all documents with extention '.key'" When I click contintue - the file reverts back to 3.0.2.
Now every keynote file I have to manually change, after every time I save it.. - Why is it my default? Where did it come from?

After more digging in the Support section here and some Google work, I turned off iTunes Match and lo and behold! I can change the media kind to Audiobook! So, it looks like iTunes Match locked the files up somehow and for some reason.
I went into iTunes Store > iTunes Match > "No, Thanks" to disable it on the local PC.

Your iDisk is still accessible after moving to iCloud in exactly the same way as before. Nothing is deleted until June 30th 2012.

No, you couldn't. Firstly, nothing was deleted from your iDisk. Secondly, any files stored on your iDisk should never be your only copy. Even if your iDisk spontaneously combusted, you should keep local backups elsewhere.

Yes. Apple doesn't provide such a service anymore, nor are you paying them for it.
Apple has made no effort to suggest remedies for the problem it has given iDisk users
They've provided instructions on how to download your files from your iDisk. What you do with them after that is your choice.

please try this (all terms are translated from my German programs to my best knowledge):
1. Did the creator of the pdf file enable the import options?
2. See import options: choose an other visibility option for your layer.
3. Let you show the import options and click into one with a black background and try these out (often a gray is selected).
4. See trimming: try the different modes there. Often works: "Media".
5. Is the pdf file (eg from Word) correctly created?
6. Is the PDF file protected? >>> no import possible.
7. If that does not help, store the pdf file in Acrobat, repair possible errors, run the PDF Optimizer before placing in InDesign.

When I purchase ITunes music, and it is a song from a Greatest Hits album, the Year of the song shows the year the CD was released and not the year the song was released (i.e. a song may be from 1986, but the Greatest Hits album was released in 1999, so my songs in ITunes show 1999). So, I go into each of those songs and change it to the year that I want to be displayed. As long as I don't exit out of ITunes, it will show the year that I changed it to (i.e. the 1986 year in this case). But if I exit out of ITunes and then return to ITunes, the year reverts back to 1999. The same happens if I change the genre of a song from, say 'Pop' to 'Alternative', it will revert back the next time I log in.
Oddly enough, as soon as I right-click on that song to change it back, the year/genre that I had entered returns.
How can I make it so my changes are permanently displayed as I want them? This is pretty annoying when I try to find a song on my Ipod under a certain genre, but it doesn't appear in that genre because the incorrect information gets synched to the Ipod.

Make sure that these two options in Edit > Preferences > Store are turned off:
Then exit iTunes and open it up again. Your metadata entries should then be persistent - with these options checked iTunes will be comparing what you have with the information held in the iTunes Store, and will overwrite with the latter for Store purchases (and if you have iTunes Match). If you have any iOS devices you should also turn off Show All Music under Settings > Music.
