Restart device: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for device to restart (no data will be lost).

Thanks so much but none of that helped. It was driving me crazy because it would back up another external drive. I just changed the name of the drive from iPhoto/iTunes Library to Media Libraries and IT WORKED!! I guess for some reason it didn't like the drive being called iPhoto or iTunes ???? I don't understand but I have tried so many solutions and exchanging things out but the name change did it????!!!

After reviewing your post, it sounds like you can connect the device with Bluetooth and make and receive calls but they dont hear you. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.

Sometimes the settings can get corrupted when you install an update. Check the outgoing mail server setting. Make sure that your username and password are in there.
Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Your email account>Account>Outgoing mail server - tap the server name next to SMTP and check in the primary server and make sure your username and password are entered and correct - even if it says that the password is optional.

Thanks for the suggestion... but I think my first question would be why these parameters would need re-setting? This is a new machine... It has never been shut down hard. It is used at most 10 hours per week... mostly using Office 2004 for MAC. I need to figure this out as I will soon need it as a Cs2/CS3 - Aperture workhorse.
I too agree that it is best not to use a sledge when a scalpel is needed... but as a novice to the MAC world I may have been misled by Apple support. I seems to have fixed the symptoms ( some) but appears NOT to have addressed the cause... which is what I am after.

Epson Printer won't work after months of working correctly. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I have the epson workforce printer and it was working correctly for months and after i updated my mac mini it couldn't locate printer. I have tried installing many times and it wont recognize printer. i'm trying to connect to my network and it won't connect. ive tried the usb install, wireless install. the printer works fine with everything else except the mac mini.

I had the same error, I took it in to a local repair shop and they had to disconnect the battery to shut it down, I was told it's an error with iOS 7.0.4 and I should not use my phone till apple releases the fix for the white screen, in the next OS update.
They have run tests on my phone and there is no hardware fault they could find.
None of my buttons worked when the white screen appeared so I couldn't restart either. So wait for the battery to die or pop in somewhere they can disconnect the battery, I hope this helps.
