After I upgraded my iPhone to iOS5, I had an error with iCloud setup and all my contacts are gone. Is there a way to get it back?
My iPhone froze when it was doing the initial setup of iCloud on iOS5
I take it you didn't read the warning prior to updating the phone. It said that you need to backup before upgrading. You have two ways. 1) load apps off your old computer. 2) Download apps one at a time. Your apps are still tide to your account and you will not be charged.

I just got a 5s and had taken some pictures. Then I plugged it into my PC and set it up using my previous backup from my iPhone 4. Now the pictures I had taken are gone, is there any way to get them back?!
Sorry no as you wipe the current data when you restore from your backup.

iCloud got deleted off my MacBook Pro. Is there any way to get it back? I have an iphone now and actually have a use for it.
Your signature says you have 10.6.8 - is this correct? (It it isn't please amend it to prevent confusion).
Assuming Snow Leopard, iCloud has not been deleted - it was never there. The minimum requirement for iCloud is Lion 10.7.2 (Mountain Lion preferred): the iCloud Preference Pane does not appear on earlier systems - the MobileMe pane appears on Lion and earlier but is non non-functional - you cannot now open or access a MobileMe account.
You can set Snow Leopard up to access the email on an existing iCloud account which has been set up on a compliant device, and you may be able to sync iCal using an unsupported (and possibly unreliable) hack, but no other facilities will work. You cannot open an iCloud account on Snow Leopard.
This page outlines the limited use you can make of an existing iCloud account with Snow Leopard:
http://www.wilmut.webspace.virginmedia.com/notes/icloudSL.html
To make full use of iCloud you will have to upgrade your Mac to Lion or Mountain Lion, provided it meets the requirements.
The requirements for Lion are:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
2GB of memory
OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
7GB of available space
To purchase it you will have to ring Apple at the number given at the bottom left of this page.
The requirements for Mountain Lion are listed here:
http://www.apple.com/osx/specs/
It is available from the Mac App Store (in Applications). (If you are currently pre-Snow Leopard you will have to upgrade to that to access the Mac App Store: it's available in the online Apple Store.)
You should be aware that PPC programs (such as AppleWorks) will not run on Lion or above; and some other applications may not be compatible - there is a useful compatibility checklist at http://roaringapps.com/apps:table -
Me and my daughter had been using the same apple id, she was triyng to change it, now all of my iphone contact are gone, what can i do ti get it back , this is very important to me.
Your contacts are helpd on the server, so if you sign out from your iCloud account and sign into another one they will disappear. If you sign back into the original account they will reappear.

I had backed-up my iPhone and when I try to restore it it says that the back-up is corrupt or the iPhone is not compatible. I had a bunch of pictures that I need from that restore. Is there any way to get them back? I did the back-up to my Macbook
If the backup is corrupt, there is nothing that can be done.
For what reason did you choose to not copy the pictures off the device to a computer prior to attemping an update or whatever caused the need to restore? iPhones are not intended as sole storage of any media. -
so, i bought the iphone 5s..but i took a few photos with it 1st before syncing it to the computer and restoring backup of the contents of my old iphone.now, the new iphone's photos are lost.is there any way to get it back?
No. When you restored the backup of the old computer it wiped out everything on the phone.

I updated my IPhone 4 and now my contacts are gone. What can I do to retore them?
Snowbound
The tab that Roaminggnome is talking about is your "Info" tab. As you can see my contacts and calendars on my iPhone are being synced through iCloud.
I also regularly take an export copy of my contacts and save it separately. This doesn't help you now but it may help you on a go-forward basis.

is there a way to get all my pictures back?
was this the first time that you connected the iPhone? If so, is your iPhoto Library empty? if you did not change the settings in iTunes ever, the sync is going as soon as you connect and the iPhoto Library is "synced" to your Phone: Read iTunes Preferences and set it corresponding to your wishes.
The Camera Roll should still be on your Phone, cannot be deleted (only what is in it). Try a sort of Finder App to see what is on your Phone, for example "PhoneExplorer" or "Diskaid" on your Mac (connect your Phone). -
I just updated to iOS5 and all my contacts are gone!
I updated to iOS 5 and before it applied the update it said "Backing up Marc's iPhone".
After the update, I went to load back my contacts and it says: "iTunes could not restore the iPhone "Marc's iPhone" because the backup session failed.
It would have been nice to mention that at the time, before I lost all the content.
I can see no way back from this.
I've gone back to another backup, and that says the same thing. Apparently, all my sessions have been quietly failing.
So, assuming I can actually source them again, I now have to type in around 300 contacts, by hand, one at a time.
I will never buy another Apple product.I've backed up and restored contacts before, and it's been fine.
But since the IOS 5 "upgrade", it seems that things don't work so well.
I can't restore from the backup that the update took, nor from older backups.
As luck would have it, I remembered that I tried syncing contacts to Google a while back, so I've recovered *some* items from there by setting up the sync again (iOS/iTunes had managed to lose it, along with all my email accounts etc). Google also lets you export your contacts to a CSV file, which is a bonus.
I'm not sure about why some contacts were synced to Google and others not, I'll look into that later.
All my photos are lost, apparently forever.
Next time I buy a phone, it will be one where I can just drag'n'drop to copy files. Probably Android- I'll certainly not buy another Apple product.
I'm curious about some of what you say: why go through the setup ON THE PHONE? What difference does it make?
I'm reluctant to do anything much more interesting now- it seems that I can no longer trust iTunes (never liked it much, I have to say: I don't find it at all intuitive). -
TS1347 I just updated my iphone, and all my contacts are gone. What can I do?
Just updated my iphone and lost all my contacts. What do I do?
sync your phone to itunes then sync your contacts. Or restore from backup.

I want to cancel my icloud how do i do that?
You don't cancel icloud. It is a service available to you if you choose to use it. You may simply choose not to use it.
