After "icloud locked", my mac keyboard non-responsive

Guys, I just locked my macbook through icloud (just for testing). Although I know the pin I set, the keyboard became non-responsive so that I cannot type in the pincode to unlock my mac. Ideas?

The hubs in keyboards are passive hubs (drawing power from the USB port at the end of the chain). Sometimes attaching power hungry devices to them causes problems.
Plug the iPod directly into a USB port on the Mini. If it's inconvenient, use a USB extender cable. If you don't have any more free ports, then you want to use a powered hub -- one that has a brick to supply power to hub, not draw it from the USB bus.

  • Apple USB Keyboard non-responsive in Windows XP Partition

Hi, as a few others are having problems with their keyboard, i have the same problem. I have tried various keyboards and still no luck. My keyboard works just fine in leopard, but when i switch over to XP, it doesn't work during the login screen. It is plugged straight from the USB port. I've tried going into safe mode, tried booting to my last good configuration, plugging and replugging, still no luck. Maybe a driver issue? What can i do to fix this problem? No one really seems to know a for sure answer.
I have an imac 24" 2gb ram running leopard
2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor

I was able to resolve my issue through a couple of steps. Since i wasn't able to log in my computer while my keyboard was non-responsive, i logged back into my leopard and used Parallels desktop to long onto my windows partition. Next I went to my device manager and uninstalled the keyboard driver, followed by a restart. It's working fine, now

  • Mouse/keyboard non-responsive, system locks up

I have a Touchsmart IQ816.  At times the wireless keyboard and mouse become unresponsive and the system seems to lock up.  I can see the blue light that comes one when I type or move the mouse is on solid and does not turn off.  The touchscreen beeps like I am touching it but nothing happens on the screen.
I am not sure if the lock up is the wireless reciever locked up and nothing works on the screen because there is no input, or if the system itself is locking up.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
Thank you all very much for your time.

  • Connecting Shuffle (4thG) to Mac mini: Keyboard non-responsive

I got a brand new 4th Generation Ipod Shuffle.
When I connect it (USB) to my Mac mini (2008), the wired aluminum Mac USB keyboard no longer responds.  Disconnecting the shuffle returns the keyboard to normal function.
    I have Snow Leopard (10.6.8), iTunes 10.6.1(7).
Is this a limitation of the Mac mini? Do some of the USB ports "share" power, and will isolating the Shuffle to an unshared port resolve this? (I don't know which might be shared...)
    thanks,

I locked my MacBook Pro From my iphone But when i try to open it it show the apple logo then it shutdown (without showing where to put the pin code) When I use opetion when booting it it ask for the password I put it right so I have the bootcamp (windows work) but when I choose Mac or recovery it show the logo then shutdown , Any help !?? :'(
    I have the OS X 10.9
    And Windows 8.1 on BootCamp

I don't know if this would work when you are dealing with a Filevault startup, but this outside thread contains the following suggestion. You would need an external USB keyboard and mouse:
Operate the MBP the same way as you would in "Clamshell" mode. The external display will automatically become the primary. I operate my MacBook that way when at home. I keep the lid shut on the MacBook, have an external USB keyboard and USB mouse attached. Turn on the MacBook, immediately shut the lid and the video will automatically go to my large external monitor.
You must be on AC power for this to work. Will not work on battery only.

  • Hey,  I don´t know why or what but while I was using my mac, the icloud locked my mac and now asking for a PIN lock with 4 numbers that I never set up before... What a need to do to fix it??

Hey I just want to use my mac but I can´t sign up it because asking me for a PIN LOCK that I don´t have any idea...

If your Mac was locked with Find My Mac, you'll have to take it to an Apple store or authorized service provider to have it unlocked.  You will need to bring the necessary paperwork to prove that it is yours.  From http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4006:
"Only Apple retail stores or Apple Authorized Service Providers can unlock computers protected by a firmware password, such as passwords set with Find My Mac.
If you cannot remember the firmware password for your computer, schedule a service appointment with either an Apple Retail Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider. If you plan to visit an Apple Retail store, make areservation at the Genius Bar (only available in some countries)."

  • Keyboard non-responsive on Enter Passcode Screen

    Hi,
When I attempt to unlock my phone from the Enter Passcode screen the keyboard responds to my touch, but doesn't register in the form for the passcode, i.e. the numbers and letters typed don't show up on the screen and the cursor remains in place blinking.  The Emergency Call icon is also unresponsive, outside of it flashing when touched.  I can get to the numbers and symbols screens.  Of course my power button has decided not to work so I can't simply power the phone off to remedy the issue.  This happened about a week ago and I solved the problem by upating the firmware.  I've searched some threads on here and Googled a bit, but no luck finding out the root cause of this particular error.  Anyone know anything about this issue and if there's a permanent fix or particular cause?  I had a 3GS 8GB previous to this 16GB and never encountered this issue...
    Thanks,

    Hi there Andy,
Tough to tell, but might be time to replace the PRAM Battery, 4 years is close to their lifespan, far less if ever without AC power, & can cause strange startup problems...

  • Keyboard non-responsive

Every few weeks, my MacBook Pro's keyboard becomes unresponsive in the Finder. Keyboard shortcuts don't work, and I can't type anything. This occurs ONLY in the finder, the keyboard works in all other applications. A single restart does not solve the problem, but restarting four or more times seems to get things working again.
My machine is the newest version of the 15" MBP, running the latest version of Leopard.
    Any ideas?

Happens to me at least once a day. no solution yet.... only thing I do is go to a different application and force quit (restart) the finder.

  • HT1941 Bluetooth keyboard setup has locked up keyboard, it's looking for a wireless keyboard, none of the keys on the keyboard are functioning, I can get out of the screen, or shut down my Mac, ... anyone??

The bluetooth keyboard setup has locked my keyboard, none of the keys are functioning, holding down the power button does nothing, I don't know how I got into wireless keyboard setup, and I don't know how to get out. Anyone?

    Hi:
I wish my suggestion had gotten you further.
I do suggest you try to connect the keyboard again.  The request for a number is a step in it trying to pair.  If it gets by the number, it sometimes takes a little while to get connected.  If you are unable to get it connected and want a new one, I have been using Apple Bluetooth keyboards for years - and I like them. The one I have (the newest model) only uses two batteries and is very thin.
Speaking of batteries, if you are not already doing so, you might consider rechargeables.  I have a drawer full of them and use a 15 minute charger.  I go tired of buying batteries and rechargeables are environmentally friendly to boot. At the moment, I use 2450 mAh Energizers and a 15 minute Energizer charger (all purchased new on eBay at a very reasonable price).
I am far from an iPad "expert," although I have one.  If my suggestion below does not help, post your question in a separate thread in the iPad forum.
I had a terrible time syncing my iCal on my Mac with my iPad iCal (confusing - hopefully it makes sense).  I quit using iCloud as that added to the confusion. There is a facility to one-time sync items.  When you connect your computer to your iPad, iTunes opens.  The system begins a process (automatic backup and so on). After it finishes, you can click on "info."  At the bottom of the screen, there is an advanced section.  You can select any of the items and then force it to sync. The iCal information from your computer would be deposited on the iPad.
After all that, I do not use a Google calendar so the information may be worthless to you.
If you want to reset the iPad to factory settings, you can do that when it is connected to iTunes (one of the options).  Me being me, I try never to erase anything.

During update, error occured and Itunes became non-responsive and shut down.  My Itouch is now locked in the itunes update screen and is no longer identified by my computer.  How do I fix this problem?

    Try this:

    DFU Mode
Open iTunes and Connect the iPhone to your Mac
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time
After 10 Seconds release the Sleep/Wake Button until iTunes tells you it has Detected an iPhone in Recovery Mode...
The Phone Screen will remain Black... Now Restore.

  • My ipod touch is locked up and non-responsive

I have tried to reset by holding lock and power buttons at the same time with no success. I have a white screen and the ipod is non-responsive to anything.

    - If you can turn it off try placing the iPod in Recovery mode and then restoring via iTunes.
    - Otherwise let the battery fully drain. After charging for at least an hour try a reset (both buttons) and a restore.
    - If screen is still white then time for an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple stoe.

  • Can Applecare reset a iCloud locked mac?

    Hi All,
Long story cut short, around 5 months ago I bought a mid 2011 27" iMac. Now the previous owner had claimed he was first owner (shared with his brother) when in actual fact it turned out this was less than true. Now, when I was fiddling with the machine one day and setting up my iCloud account, the machine asked if I wanted to deactive the previous owner, so I clicked yes.
What happened next was a case of the machine locking down, applying icloud lock on OSX and a firmware password. After battling for weeks I managed to get the Exeter Apple Store to remove the firmware password (proved I bought the machine etc) but they forgot to remove the iCloud lock.
Now exeter is a good 50 miles from me, and both times I had to pay my own money to get a lift there, whilst lugging 14kg of mac around. Is there anyway I can get this icloud lock removed remotely by applecare, or alternatively does anyone have any other solutions?
Ive been told installing Snow Leopard would work, but I have no such media for it.
    Thanks in advance!

  • Non-responsive keys on keyboard.

    Hi guys,
I hope someone can help me out figuring out my problem. I have MacBook Pro 13-inch, Late 2011, Processor  2,8 GHz Intel Core i7 Serial Number  C02HG0WKDV14 Software  OS X 10.9.5 (13F34).
One day I turned my mac on and it had "M" key stuck, it just kept typing this key. I tried resetting SMC, PRAM and all advices on-line with no success so decided to open it and clean it all up.
During the clean up I accidentally pealed off the black foil on the backlit which I thought caused the following issue of various random keys being non-responsive. So I bought new backlit which in the end did not fix it at all.
Bellow are highlighted the non-responsive keys
One thing I noticed that all keys started to work when was on the plane, probably the pressurized cabin made it work.
Do you by any chance have any ideas what is the problem? How can it be fixed? I just can't live airborne
    Thank you for your help

The best thing to do would be take it to an Apple store genius bar and have the techs check it out and see what is wrong with the key switches.
By the way, the "pressurized cabin" of a commercial airliner is actually at reduced atmospheric pressure, only about 80% of the pressure at sea level.  That should not have a physical affect, but have the techs check out the keyboard.
