After Installation Thunderbird cannot create any e-mailaccount in Windows 8.1

Dear friends,
I have installed Thunderbird on my recently installed Win 8.1 system. TB installes, opens, but then I cannot create anything else but a Newsgroupaccount. The wizard for creating a new, or importing existing e-mailaccounts does not appear at all. The column for Accounts, the list with the Messages shows up, but remains completely blanc not showing anything at all but a Grey field. I've tried copying my Profile folder from my 'old' Linux machine, and the addressbook has been copied allright. But I cannot write any message, as no single e-mailaccount has been created, cannot be created, no matter how i approach this menu.
I have de-installed and removed everything, also in registry, and installed again. No changes. Same problem.
is it possible that my Win 8.1 sytem might be the culprit?
Sincerely, Rudi

Perhaps I should add a screendump of what my Thunderbird 31.2.0 look like. . .

  • Cannot create any PDF docs with Acrobat Pro 7.0

I have Adobe Acrobat Pro 7.0 running on Microsoft XP.  All of a sudden, I cannot
convert any documents into PDFs.  I have tried converting Microsoft Word
docs and those from other applications.  It is important to stress that I
have managed to do this many times in the past, but for some reason Acrobat
has suffenly stopped doing this.  I have tried 'printing' to PDF and
'converting' to PDF.  Each time I get the following error message on a
    'Notepad':
"%%[ Error: undefined; OffendingCommand: setdistillerparams; ErrorInfo:
    CalCMYKProfile U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2 ]%%
%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
Error accessing color profile: U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%"
I have clicked on 'Detect & Repair' under the 'Help' menu button in Adobe
Acrobat and this supposedly did some form of reinstalling/fixing (without
the need for a CD to be inserted into the computer) and asked me to turn off
my computer & then turn it back on.
Having done this, I still cannot get docs to convert to PDF.
I have not added any particular hardware or software to my computer in
recent times.  Apart from the PDF conversion, everything else in Adobe
Acrobat Pro seems to run fine.  I can read all documents etc.
    Can you help me?
    Thanks,
    Alan

OK, I've got everything to work - so long as I 'Print' docs to PDF rather than clicking on the PDF conversion icons (if I click on these icons, I just get an error).
But if I print to PDF, everything now works - I've even managed to solve the Word problem - I think it was a faulty Word doc for some reason.  I found a useful document which told me how to set up all the settings for Acrobat Distiller (http://mydocs.epri.com/docs/CorporateDocuments/WorkingWithEPRI/CreatingAcrobatPDFs.pdf).
If you know how to make the PDF conversion icons work (it must be something simple) that'll save me having to print each time, it would be great, but I can survive without this.

  • After update, I cannot launch any browsers[SOLVED]

    Hello,
I've updated today my kde 4 desktop and now, I cannot launch any of my browsers.
Command line launch gives me this message:
    [mak@myhost ~]$ firefox

    [mak@myhost ~]$
When I try to launch chromium, I get this message:
    [mak@myhost ~]$ chromium-browser
    /usr/bin/chromium-browser: line 4:  1833 Bus error               ./chrome --enable-greasemonkey --enable-user-scripts "$@"
    [mak@myhost ~]$
    Any idea fixing this error?
Oh, and one more thing, when I try to restart the system hangs. I had to use the reset button.
    Proc: 2.6 gig
    Desktop kde 4.3 64bit
    Mem: 6 gig

On a separate partition, I also run the exact same system but with xfce. The update doesn't seem to be effected the that desktop.
    Thanks,

  • Cannot Add Any Music to iTunes Windows 8

I just got a brand new computer with Windows 8. I moved everything that was on my previous laptop to this one, including all of my music, books, and videos. I just downloaded the newest version of iTunes, and it will not add any music to my library. My library is always empty and has the buttons to go the the iTunes Store and/or Scan For Music. I cannot add any files to the library. After I click on the file that I want to add, nothing happens. I can't even transfer my previously purchased music from my iPad to my library. Again, nothing happens. The only thing I have been able to transfer were my books that were on my iPad. No music, no apps, no videos. This is my second day working on this problem. I have used iTunes for years and have always been able to find a solution. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes twice, selected myself as administrator on the computer, troubleshooted compatibility issues, and tried multiple diagnostic runs. If someone could help me find a way to fix this, I would be very grateful.
    Thanks in advance.

Use Windows to go to your folders and find one of the problem files.  Right-click it, and choose Open With > iTunes.  If the file is compatible with iTunes, it will be added to the library and start playing.  If nothing happens, the file is incompatible.

  • Cannot create any computer to my domain

    Hi,
I've had a good look and i can't find anything on this topic. If i have missed something please feel free to send me a link and i apoligise for wasting your time.
I'm currently setting up my workplace with a server, we opted for Server 2012.
I'm trying to get other office computers to join the domain in order for the user to login straight from the start up screen instead of remote desktop connection.
I have set up the server as a domain controller (i hope) and i have also given it a static ip address (again i hope).
I'm unable to connected any computer to the domain, Both Windows 7 & Windows 8.1 Pro. When i put in my domain name i'm prompted for a username and password (leads me to believe it can see the domain name). I enter the administrator username and password.
It will load and i'll get a ping back saying
"... does not exist or cannot be contacted"(Windows 8)
"An attempt to resolve the DNS name of a domain controller in the domain being joined has failed...." (Windows 7)
I'm able to connect to the user accounts i created via remote desktop connection which is okay, but not idea for our database system.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. If you need me to send over any config setting please feel free to ask.

I do remember doing that. It's just if i've done it correctly. I followed a guide so it should be correct.

  • Java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: cannot create any more threads

    Server: AIX
    OS Level: 4.3.3
    JDK 1.1.8
I have an application that creates a lot of worker Threads. For each widget, a new Thread is created. If there are 431 widgets, the program displays the OutOfMemory error and exits. If I reduce the number of widgets by 9 and only create 422 Threads everything works fine. I print out the TotalMemory() and the FreeMemory() just before it dies and there seems to be plenty of memory left. I have tried setting the following settings "-ms50m" and "-mx400m", but it seemed to make no difference. Any ideas?
    Total Memory: 10211320
    Free Memory: 1461640

Noting that you are using a IBM vm and a rather old one at that...
Threads take java memory. Normally the solution is to increase the maximum java heap. Doing that depends on the memory that the system supports and the maximum that the VM allows and the default that it uses.
You might want to verify the command line options you are using. You might want to also find out what happens if you use a larger number or smaller one.
And if all else fails you can use a thread pool rather than trying to create seperate threads.

  • Setup Assistant Freezes after installation.. cannot complete setup

Hi - I recently installed an Apple DVD RAM drive in my 450Mhz B&W G3. As far as I know it meets the system requirements - it has 640MB RAM and built in firewire.
Anyway, I was upgrading from OS 10.2.8 and I kept getting an error. So I ran the disk utility and sure enough, there was an error - and one that it couldn't fix. So I backed up all my files and decided to clean install, and it worked perfectly.
Installation had no problems, and it got completely through to the setup assistant. Except, now it got to the "select keyboard language: English, Canadian or "view all languages" - when I select English and click "continue" it freezes. Sometimes I get the spinning colorful wheel, and othertimes, it just stays frozen. After about 10 minutes, it comes back to where I can click "continue again" When I do, the continue button goes grey and it just sits there idling again.
Anyone know what the problem is or how to fix it? Thanks!
    Tim

never mind, it simply needed more time - I left it for a few hours and came back and it finally made it to the next screen! Weird.

  • CTIOS: Supervisor after first intercept, cannot perform any other supervisor actions

We are working on a custom CTIOS agent desktop and are experiencing an issue, and we were wondering if anyone else has seen the same problem and knows a work-around.
A supervisor barges in on a call for one of the agents in her team and then leaves the barge-in. For as long as that supervisor is logged in, they cannot silent monitor, barge in, or intercept calls.
We have tested this both with our custom code, but also with the out of the box version of CTIOS.

Did you ever find a resolution to this?  We may be experiencing the same problem.  Also, what version of CTIOS are/were you running?

  • Just after Installation Adobe cannot be started. Error "......Adobe not found"

I have installed Adobe 10 und Adobe 11.  I have Win 7 64 Bit. Just after Installtion when I start Adobe there ist always a long error :
".......Adobe Reader can nit be found...."
I have no explanation for it. I am seeking for help.

You shouldn't have two versions of Adobe Reader installed.
I suggest you remove both versions using http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
then download and install the latest Reader from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

  • Managed File Transfer - Cannot create any artifacts

    Hi
I have issues creating anything in MFT. When I am in the Design tab, the create icon is grey.
I have installed Fusion Middleware Infrastructure and Managed File Transfer and made alle necessary configurations.
Can anyone tell me what might be wrong?
    Br
    Andy
