After installing Firefox v 22, AppleWorks runs slow and hangs up. Can I unintall v 22 and revert back to Forefox v 21?

I work on a iMac Intel Core 2 Duo - OSX 10.6.8 I rely on using AppleWorks v 6+ (Classic mode -Rosetta) I have over 3000 records in an AppleWorks data base and do not want to lose these records.
Also, I run two Operating Systems on my computer - one (OSX 10.6.8) in my internal HD, another from a 2TB external HD (also OSX 10.6.8). Although I do not recall doing so, I must have downloaded and installed Firefox v 22 on my "internal" HD. Since doing so, AppleWorks hangs up and sometimes requires me to Force Quit the App. However, when using my external HD (which still runs Firefox v 21) when I launch AppleWorks (from my Applications folder on my "Internal HD) I do not experience any problems with AppleWorks. The problem with AppleWorks hanging up or not responding, began only after installing Firefox v 22 on my internal HD. I have no idea why but Firefox v 22 is definitely causing problems with AppleWorks v 6+
Is it possible to revert back to Firefox v 21 (if I uninstall v 22)?

I 'm facing the same problem but I don't want to uninstall better to Roll back to my previous version . 'cause many plug-in ( which is most usefull and important to me ) not supported with my present version V22. like easy youtube .
I want to know what is the benefit if I don't get any better opportunity from upgrade version and also lose my previous version's facility !

• After installing lion, my computer is running slower and having delays connecting to network

please help me resolve my problem. after installing lion my system was running great for about a week. suddenly it is having trouble connecting to the internet, running slow and the history pages are appearing without asking for them.. unable to get my homepage when opening up, just get a white screen. if i go to the history, i can get the homepage. Only able to access my homepage by waiting for ever or getting it from the history.
please help

Peter, thank you for responding. No, I am not referring to the initial start up. I downloaded Yosemite over a week ago and feel it is running very slow when switching websites. Also, I have experienced numerous hangups causing me to force quite much more than before.
I just cleared my Safari history (I am guessing that is what you meant by "clean the old internet-caches" and restarted Safari. I will see how it goes.
I uses a file called "Desktop" from my IPhoto library for my desktop pictures. It contains about 20 pictures. I configured it that way in Preferences, but it seems whenever I shut down and restart my computer it reverts to the generic picture of Yosemite. As for the question mark and "Update Needed" showing on my startup log in screen, I think I fixed that by changing my password in Preferences.
No that I have cleared the Safari history, I will see how things go.

• After installing Mountain Lion iMac i5 runs slow and hard to wake up

After installing OS X10.8 (Mountian Lion) my iMac i5 with 4GB RAM seems to run slower. It also is hard to wake up after sleep mode. Sometimes it even just freezes and when I force quit all the apps the apps can never be launched without a hard reboot.

Open Disk Utility (Application - Utilities - Disk Utility) Repair Disk Permissisons 2-3x. If that doesn't work then restart in Safe Mode to clear some caches and then restart normally. If it still has problems then your install is corrupt and you need to re-download and re-install Mountain Lion from the Mac App Store.

• After installing Firefox 4 Beta 9, using Manual Proxy Configuration fails to connect to the internet and also fails with corporate intranet. Has anything changed?

Initially, Firefox 4 Beta 8 is installed. Manual Proxy Configuration was used, and worked fine.
After installing Beta 9 using the built-in updater, connecting to internet and intranet fails instantly with Page Not Found error. Restarting Firefox does not fix the problem.
Clean install of Beta 9 also exhibits the same problems.

I have this problem too...

• After installing Yosemite my computer is running slower

I installed Yosemite and noticed a big difference in the speed of my MacBook Pro. A speed test indicates in am getting 25 down and 6 up, yet when changing websites I find response is much slower.
Also, after shutting down and restarting the login screen no longer shows the picture I use and instead has a question mark with "Update Needed". Further, my Desktop setting is changed to that picture from Yosemite.

• After installing Firefox 13, there's been a change in fonts in my AOL email inbox, and in several other sites: how do I fix this?

What used to be Arial is now Courier bold.

Do you set Firefox to override the fonts used in the page?
This might have been suggested in another thread, but just in case: When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
Save any work you're doing in your email first, then:
1. Clear Firefox's Cache
Firefox > Preferences > Advanced Network mini-tab
Under Offline Storage, click "Clear Now". This might take a couple of minutes if you have a large hard drive.
2. If needed, delete the AOL cookies here
While viewing a page on the site, Tools > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

• After installing Firefox 5, why, after closing and reopening the programme, do I seem to have lost most of the new features?

After installing Firefox 5, replacing my previous version (4.5), I could see the new features. However, having closed and reopened Firefox, it seems as though it has reverted to the previous version, even though 'Help - About' says I'm running on version 5.0.
I had to download 5.0 from the Mozilla website, as I tried to update via the update tool in 4.5, but it claimed I was fully up to date, even though I have 5.0 on another machine (which works perfectly).

Can you please describe the "new features" that you saw first time you opened Firefox 5?
Thank you.

• Must restart after installing firefox and kde...WHY????

Every time I set up an arch box, when I install firefox or kde (probably others) I must restart the computer before I can even execute them. This is mighty inconvenient and un-linux-like, I noticed that during the bootup, the Updating Shared Library Links takes a little longer after installing firefox or kde, is there a command I can run that does this after installing firefox or kde that dosen't require me to restart?

I wish pacman or the .install files would check to see if /opt/foo, the path that the package was just installed to, is in $PATH and automatically source /etc/profile if it's not. I swear this is a top 10 question from users and rightfully so, they shouldn't have to deal with this. In my humble opinion.
I'm pretty sure most do - however, that only sources it for root, not the user running - I have no idea, off the top of my head, if this works correctly under sudo.
However, the important part is that your WM/DE is running under a totally different environment setup, and the 'export' stuff does not reach it.
I can't really think of a good way to get around it - I know it's rather irritating to some people. I wonder if adding something like "/opt/*/bin" to the PATH by default would work... I don't think it globs properly though...

• Certain websites media player wont work after installing Firefox V4

After installing Firefox Version 4 the media player of certain website fails to start and stream normally. I have updated all the needed plugins and add ons and still have the same issue. I have created a Mozilla account and downloaded Spark and my Spark says invalid username or password when trying to login to Spark to start a chat session

Thanks for the step-by-step. However, I'm having time-out
issues when trying to download (step #1) anything from that server.
The "file download" window opens, but the progress is so slow - it
ends up timing out. Is anyone able to download any of those
files?

• After installing maverick my computer is very slow

after installing maverick my computer is very slow, what can I do?

First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
Step 1
This diagnostic procedure will query the log for messages that may indicate a system issue. It changes nothing, and therefore will not, in itself, solve your problem.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
syslog -k Sender kernel -k Message CReq 'GPU |hfs: Ru|I/O e|find tok|n Cause: -|NVDA\(|timed? ?o' | tail | open -ef
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key.
The command may take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear.
A TextEdit window will open with the output of the command. Normally the command will produce no output, and the window will be empty. If the TextEdit window (not the Terminal window) has anything in it, stop here and post it — the text, please, not a screenshot. The title of the TextEdit window doesn't matter, and you don't need to post that.
Step 2
There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
Reset the System Management Controller.
Run Software Update. If there's a firmware update, install it.
If you're booting from an aftermarket SSD, see whether there's a firmware update for it.
If you have a portable computer, check the cycle count of the battery. It may be due for replacement.
If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane. See whether there's any change.
Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.
Boot into Recovery mode, launch Disk Utility, and run Repair Disk.
If you have a MacBook Pro with dual graphics, disable automatic graphics switching in the Energy Saverpreference pane for better performance at the cost of shorter battery life.
Step 3
When you notice the problem, launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the icon grid.
Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
Select All Processes from the View menu or the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for User, System, and Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the Memory tab. What value is shown in the bottom part of the window for Swap used?
Next, select the Disk tab. Post the approximate values shown for Reads in/sec and Writes out/sec (not Reads in andWrites out.)
Step 4
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combinationcommand-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. That should be easy to do if your extract is not too long.

• Everytime i try to open my Firefox i get a window that pops up asking me which browser i want to use to open it. After choosing Firefox it asks to run a C:/Program Files (x86)/Mozilla Firefox/firefox.exe.

Every time i try to open my Firefox i get a window that pops up asking me which browser i want to use to open it. After choosing Firefox it asks to run a C:/Program Files (x86)/Mozilla Firefox/firefox.exe. But my search bar says file:///C:/Program Files (x86)/Mozilla Firefox/firefox.exe. Never seen anything like this, half tempted to stop using Mozilla for this sole fact. PLEASE someone help me.

Same error message, I disabled tab mix and made sure I only have the newest version of Java, restarted firefox, now it seems to be fine no error yet on Pogo games or pictures upload to ebay which were the biggest problems besides hanging. I had also had disabled AVG secure search yesterday but that did not solve the issue. Now I will try to add back in AVG search...I have very few adds ons, also the note embedded about re- installing a toolbar went away, my old one did not work with FF4, so I installed Yahoo toolbar but the message still did not go away until I applied this fix. Hopes this helps someone..

• After installing firefox 27 "save link as" is not working

after installing firefox 27 "save link as" is not working started a few days ago use to work fine before v27 was installed. please help.

Hello hansram, '''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode|Firefox Safe Mode]] is a troubleshooting mode that turns off some settings and disables most add-ons (extensions and themes).
''(If you're using an added theme, switch to the Default theme.)''
If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu by clicking on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item:

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:
* On Windows: Hold the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* On Mac: Hold the '''option''' key while starting Firefox.
* On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run ''firefox -safe-mode''
(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]] article to find the cause.
''To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.
Thank you.

I'm having this issue as well only with a little different twist I guess. I'm transferring the iWorks applications from my Macbook Pro 3,1 with Lion to a new MBP 10,1 running Mountain Lion. I transferred the apps over using DropCopy since the older MBP doesn't have AirPlay. Applications show up but crash upon opening. This is the first install so there are no previous plist, versions or such to delete. All three crashed upon opening every time until I just had to have Keynote and purchased again - although Apple agreed to refund that purchase since my previous version quit working. Any ideas since I don't have any previous plist/versions to delete? Thanks in adavnce for any help you can offer.
