After installing leopard cannot find saved mail

I installed Leopard yesterday and now cannot find saved email from tiger, Also when I create a save mail box it says I have one but it does not appear in the mailbox list??? Also how do I enlarge the text names of mailboxes like inbox, junk,trash.etc??// jim_joh

I had tiger and winxp on my 20 duo intel so I inserted leopard disk and followed instructions on both mac & pc side. The mailboxes I am talking about was on tiger. They must be hidden somewhere because when I try to create a save mailbox the message appears saying I already have a save mailbox in library, mail, mailboxes but I cannot find them???? jim_joh

  • After installing Leopard 10.5.3 Mail no longer works in SSL

After installing Leopard 10.5.3 Mail no longer supports SSL (Port 993) with password authentication. Setting it back to Port 143 seems to be fine. While this is not a problem at home when I am on the road it is a definite problem. Are other users finding similar problems? What are the work arounds (besides changing mail programs)?

    No, all certificates are fine.
Three months on 10.5.3? Really? It seems to me that we had 10.5.2 three months ago.
Anyway, it seems that the mail problem may have been a coincidence with the release of 10.5.3 -- mail servers seem to be back up and mail, both SSL and non-SSL seem to be working as if 0730 EDT.
This then becomes more of an Apple problem of letting the community know that mail is down -- and that problems are most likely not related to the update of Leopard. This would be particularly helpful since many of us (very many, I suspect) have the auto update configuration for doing system updates turned on.

  • Problem installing Leopard - Cannot find 10.4.

Hi there, I purchased my Macbook Pro in Nov 2007 and inside the box was an upgrade disc to Leopard. I've been getting on fine with 10.4.11, but got Call of Duty 4 for Christmas and am now having to upgrade to Leopard. The Installation disc restarts my machine, I select "English" as my preferred language, then it says it cannot find 10.4 on my machine.
Can anyone shed any light on this?
Thanks in advance, and Merry Christmas!

    Hi KI4KWF;
Adding your question to the bottom of another question that is marked as solved is not the best way to get it noticed. I would suggest that you start your own thread for your question.

  • Mistakenly canceled import of old mail after installing Leopard

The first time I opened Mail after installing Leopard, it began automatically populating with my old emails. I mistakenly hit cancel and now cannot figure out how to continue the process or find the old emails. I only see new mail and mailboxes in home/library/mail. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
I agree that this could be the issue. But the problem is, Mail will not let me do anything about it. It gives me the dialog over and over because it is trying to do some background IMAP task (that it is unable to do) but does not stop trying to do it long enough for me to, say go into the preferences to change my account settings.
I can access the IMAP account from my web mail so this issue is something corrupted in Mail that it thinks it should be able to access but can't. If you catch my meaning.
    Cheers,
    Dan

  • Finder not working after installing Leopard!!!

    Hi everyone.
I'm getting a strange Finder behavior on my Intel iMac (not the newest version) after installing Leopard. The thing is, after instalation, when I start the computer, the top bar on the screen starts blinking, and there's no way to open a Finder window. And it stays like that forever! I tried to open Finder from the Dock, but the blue dot of the active programs blinks 3 or 4 times and then disapears. Plus, the only way to access the Apple logo on the corner to switch the computer off or restart it, is by opening one other program from the dock (in this case I have Safari running), because this way the top bar stops blinking.
So, I thought I should try to update Leopard to 10.5.1, and this could solve the problem. But no. It searches for new software updates, tells me that there are new updates, but I cannot see them nor install them!
This is really weird and annoying!
Anyone had this problem? Please, help me.
P.S.: Yes, I've tryed a second install of Leopard. Same thing!

Do NOT install any updates until you resolve the problem, which is unrelated to any updates. Updating a computer that is not working correctly will only make the problems worse, never better.
If this is the second install, was it on an erased HD or did you import your previous programs, etc?
It sounds like you might have some errant 3rd party software running.
Did you run a disk check and file permission verify/repair before installing?
Check your startup program window and remove everything there. Write them down so you can put them back later.

  • After installing Leopard I cannot connect onto company server

After installing Leopard I am unable to connect to our company server. I was able to see the server when I was on tiger. I tried to connect the server manually but it seems I can't even do that. What to do next ? Server connects both PCs and Mac in the office.
I went into finder preference and click connect to server. I don't see any of our three servers that I saw on tiger. Not sure what to do next.
    I get the message
The server does not exist or it is not operational at this time. Check the server name or IP address and your network connection and try again.

I wish I was writing with an answer, but all I can really offer is that "I feel your pain". In my case, after upgrading to Leopard, I can see many, but nowhere near all, computers on our network, and there's no obvious explanation for who appears and who doesn't. Worse, I can see the one I most need to see (my administrative assistant) but there is no option to file share through drop boxes or any other mechanism we've found (despite enabling those options in preferences) and the only option listed is to "share screen" -- which is interesting since my assistant's computer is running Tiger, and selecting it on my end fails every time!
What gives!?! It's tough being the local mac evangelical when s**t like this goes down!

  • Problems connecting to internet after installing Leopard

I have been having problems connecting to the internet after installing Leopard. I have a G5 at my office and use safari and AOL, using a cable modem and router. Everything worked perfect until I installed Leopard. About 3 days after installing Leopard on my G5 I started having problems connecting to the internet. When opening "network" in preferences it tells me I am connected, but I cannot connect. So I have to restart my computer every time in order to connect. Then to top it off, often in the middle of the day I am able to get and send e-mail with AOL, but my Safari does not connect. And even more bizare, if I am connected and sign off my AOL, I lose Safari as well. Brought the G5 into the Mac store and after trying some stuff they told me "it should work now" but ....same problems. So last Monday, I installed Leopard on my Macbookpro which I use at home wirelessly, everything worked well until yesterday when the same issue with my G5 is happening with the macbookpro. No connection, it tells me I am connected, signal is strong, but nothing.....so restart and keep going. What is going on? Anyone else having same problem? Any solutions
    Roberto

    Roberto,
Is the install of Leopard on the G5 and MacBook Pro an upgrade install or a clean install?
Try some simple maintenance to see if this resolves it:
    1. Run Repair Disk Permissions (Disk Utility)
    2. Go to Network Utility and go to Ping enter in www.cnn.com and see if the packets are received/sent. This is just to see if you can get to the outside so to speak
    3. See if your cable modem manfacturer has a leopard upgrade. Sometimes hardware companies need to upgrade their firmware when new Operating systems come out

  • After installing Leopard, my G4 will no longer boot in OS 9.22. (Classic still works, but I need it to boot in OS 9.)  Any clues about what the Leopard installer might have done to my machine that rendered OS 9 boot unusable? What can I do to fix it?

After installing Leopard, my G4 will no longer boot in OS 9.22.
(Classic still works, but I need it to boot in OS 9.)
Any clues about what the Leopard installer might have done to my machine that rendered OS 9 boot unusable? (And what can I do to fix it?)
    Details:
    G4 Gigabit Ethernet
    Boot ROM version: 4.2.8fl
    Accelerator card added: 1.6 MHz
    1.5 Gig Ram
I have erased the partition that had Leopard installed on it.
    I zapped the pram.
In Open Firmware, I "reset-nvram", and then "reset-all"
I tried to reinstall G4 FW Update 4.2.8, but that must be done when booted from OS 9, and of course, that's the problem: it won't boot into 9.
I tried restarting from 9.2.1 DVD.
I tried restarting from an external firewire drive containing OS 9.2.2.
I tried moving a fresh OS 9.2.2 system folder into an empty partition on an internal hard drive. (Partition was created WITH OS 9 drivers installed.)
All attempts to boot into OS 9 give me the same results - grey screen - no spinning beach ball, no icons or logos - just a blank grey screen.
This machine still works fine in OS 10.3 and 10.4, and it worked fine for many years booting into OS 9, until I installed Leopard, and I haven't been able to boot into OS 9 since then, although I have done considerable research online and tried many things.
I have since learned that this machine does not support Leopard - 10.5. Fine, but how did it break 9.2.2?
    Any help greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for checking in, BDAQua.
    Problem solved.
In the docs that came with my Powerlogix accelerator card, I found this sentence buried:
"If you reset the PRAM, the NVRAM code for OS9 compatibility is cleared, so you will have to boot from the Firmawre Update CD and perform this process again in order to boot in OS9."
The "process" it's referring to is the process of setting up the NVRAM for booting into OS9 from the CD.
Fortunately, I was able to find the disk, and it worked as expected. I can now, once again boot into OS9.
Conclusion: My (unadvised) attempt to load Leopard on this old machine apparently reset the PRAM on the accelerator card and cleared the NVRAM code for OS9 boot. Although I did attempt to reset the NVRAM via Open Firmware, it did not reset it on the accelerator card.
So, thank you BDAQua, for your "Ah yes" . . . that's all I needed to steer me in the right direction.
    Gratefully,
    tupester

  • Mac mini G4 won't mount music CD after installing Leopard

My Mac mini G4 has some issues mounting music CDs after installing Leopard. I did an "archive and install", everything seems to be working fine, except the CD issue. I have also applied all the relevant updates. I didn't have any issue with CDs in Tiger on this system.
Just after booting, the CD does mount. However, I can't eject it by dragging it to the trash can. I can unmount it only by hitting the eject button on the keyboard.
If I insert the CD again it won't appear on the desktop anymore. It doesn't appear in iTunes either, no matter how often I try.
I noticed someone else in these forums had the exact same problem. The problem was marked as solved, but in fact it wasn't. No information is available in the forum on how to solve it.

This EXACT scenario happens to me. It started the day I upgraded from 10.4.x to Leopard. My workaround is to go into Disk Utility, find the CD (which shows up as unmounted). Click on the CD. Then click the "Mount" button at the top. It works, but I'd like a real solution.

  • After installing Leopard went 2 install life 08 computer will not accept DV

I, actually, have two issues occurring since my install but I will list them separately. After installing Leopard on my G4 Powerbook, which was running tiger fine, I went to install iLife 08 which I purchased at the same time and when I put the DVD in the drive it asks me to choose an option to open CD/DVD...usually install disks just pop up and you start the process...any way I chose "finder" and it pulled the iLife install disk up as a blank CD/DVD with options to burn if I wanted. Any idea what setting may have been altered by the Leopard install and how I might be able to fix it? I appreciate any advice any of you may have...oh, I, also, just had a new memory module added at the genius bar yesterday to upgrade my system, so I could install this software.

Starting in safe mode fixed this issue if anyone is having the same issue or related issues. It appears starting is safe mode clears many things up pertaining to Leopard.

  • UNABLE TO OPEN FCP 6.02 PROJECT FILES AFTER INSTALLING LEOPARD!

**Unable to open FCP 6.02 project files after installing Leopard**. Tested and found that the files can be opened on another computer with OS 10.4.10, but not OS 10.5. Spoke to apple support many times, and have tried reinstalling FCP, but it didn't work.
Apple is now saying to erase my HD and reinstall from scratch. This presents a problem since i have software installed but no disc due to a move, (they are deep in offsite storage).
Anyone have this problem? Anyone know a fix?

    Lynne,
There is a section in the manual on the migration tool... I don't have my machine fired up right now so can't direct you to the exact page. I think a search for migration or migrate should do it.
    Two other things to try:
    1. There have been numerous reports that Quicktime 7.3 is what is killing older projects. According to one of the third party program makers Apple re-wrote Quicktime changing the null value to Zero from minus-one. I'm not a code junkie so can't vouch for this but the upshot would be, go back to Quicktime 7.1 or 7.2 not 7.3
    2. There is a Quicktime plugin called "Perian". For lots of people it has caused numerous problems.
Look for Perian on your machine and if you find it, drag the app to the trash... re boot and try again.
Of course the ultimate solution would be to reinstall Tiger, Final Cut Studio 2 and Quicktime 7.2. So far the most stable combined setup for me and lots of others on G5 machines.
36 degrees and thunderstorms with sleet here this afternoon. The door on my storage unit is staying closed.

  • After installing Leopard, the app store icon disappeared

    Hi,
After installing Leopard, the app store icon disappeared; how do I access it to download Lion? There is no trace of any App store in the Finder.
    Thank you

You need to update to 10.6.6 (at least) to have the App Store.

  • After installing Leopard I cant

After installing Leopard I cant upload pictures through myspace I have even tryed firefox and it doesnt work I also you safari . I called apple and they said something about a plug in issue. Has anyone else had this problem.
    Just wondering?

I had installed Snow Leopard on my iMac 24" 2.4GHZ Intel machine. Previously everything had been working fine prior to my install. Coincidence being what it is, after I installed SL from DVD my menu bar items in the top right were not showing up and then my CD/DVD drive was not working. Would say that it can't read the inserted disc and my options were to choose ignore and eject.
I chose Ignore and went to Disk Utility and it could see the blank DVD I had inserted. But I could not burn the disc.
*Due to me having two issues at the same time, this complicates my ability to pinpoint what the solution was, but here's what I did and now everything is fine*
Before everything granular, I tried installing from SL disc again, in case that had been an issue...when that didn't work then...
First I removed a series of suggested .plist files that pertain to the menu bar, finder, clock, etc... That was for my menu bar issue (which didn't fix it by the way)
I then used disk utility from the SL DVD using that as start up disc, yes it loads fine. Verified and Repaired Disc permissions and drive. No issues.
I ran software update and installed 10.6.1 (still no fix to either problem)
I ran firmware update using the hold power button process during startup
(still no fix to either problem)
I reset the PRAM using boot up key sequence...still appeared to be no fix.
Then one more complete shut down and reboot...VOILA! *EVERYTHING REPAIRED*!!!
So I have no idea WHAT did it, or WHY. However, that process now has me burning DVDs successfully and I have all my menu items back.
I know it's not the most helpful response, but I can tell you everything works fine now.

  • Sites I visit most often won't work immediately after installing Leopard

Immediately after installing Leopard the three sites I visit most often won't pull up at all. They just show an error as if the MacBook isn't connected to the internet.
    Other sites pull up fine.
These three sites I am trying to visit pull up fine on other computers.
These three sites won't work regardless of what wireless network I'm on.
The problem is exactly the same between Firefox and Safair.
What suggestions do you have or where can I start?
    Thanks a ton guys

Figured it out. I have a program called SelfControl that helps block sites that you find yourself killing a lot of time on. Well after the update it appears that it was somehow activated and thus wouldn't allow those sites to come through. Unique problem.
    All fixed now.

  • "Import Mailbox" not available after installing Leopard - no email

The first time I opened Mail after installing Leopard. It found my accounts and folders but nothing was in them. Everything I've read says to "Import Mailboxes" from the Library, however that option isn't available to me. (it is in shadow). Should I re-install Leopard? Is there a way to re-install just the "mail" rather than the whole operating system?

Restarting the MBPr a second time after the update resolved the issue for me. I was updating from 10.10.2.
Prior to resolving this, the symptoms I experienced were a loss of the Bluetooth icon in System Preferences, and no option to search for Bluetooth devices in both the Mouse and Keyboard menus. The Bluetooth icon in the top menu bar also had a squiggly line going through it, and when clicked reported Bluetooth not available.
