After iOS 5.1 update on iPhone 4, some of my pictures in the camera roll become pixelated after a crop edit?
I will elaborate. Lets say I save an image from a website. Then I go to the camera roll and edit crop it to make the image a tad bit smaller. Suddenly the images becomes pixelated and blocky. When I return to the image and tap the edit button, it becomes clear again and I can see the original picture. When I tap cancel, it goes back to beign pixelated/blocky. I tired restoring my phone to factory setting and losing all my data. That didn't work. As soon as I tested it, the same thing happened. I tried some weird method from www.iphoneincanada.ca an that didn't work either.
This is very annoying!
I have more info. I am using a program to look at the files on my iPhone. I did some testing and I came up with this. When a photo is edited ( in my case cropping) an image is created in the Metadata folder. The metadata folder is contained in a folder called PhotoData. For some reason, the cropped JPG is put within this metadata folder. The DCIM folder contains the "actual image" you saved from the internet or wherever. When a photo is edited in camer roll, a .XMP file is created for that image (Sometimes) and it's about 1kb. Coincidentally, the image that is pixelated DOES NOT have an .XMP file associated with it in the DCIM folder.
To conclude, it seems that the pictures that have a .XMP file associated with it in the DCIM folder does not come out as pixelated.
If there is a .XMP file then the photo in the Metadata folder become pixelated.

I have tried to watch the videos and see the pictures from my iPhone's camera roll on a televison but it is not working. It is like nothing is connected to the T.V. set. How do i save a picture to the camera roll from a text message in ios 7
I am attempting to save a picture from a text message to my camera roll. However when i hold the picture the options are "copy/More" More gives the options to delete or forward via text message. And if i press copy it only copies it to be pasted. In the past i was given several options to send the pic via email/text/save to camera roll/drop box etc.
Please advise as to how i can save pictures from my text to the camera roll.
Thank you!If you receive a picture via email or text message in ios 7 and when you press the action icon to save the picture and you do not get the option to save to your camera roll. Press and hold on the the image and you will get an overlay pop up to save the image. I have no idea why some attachments don't have option in action menu to save in the camera roll but by experimentation and earned frustration I found the above to work in certain situations.

Photos is an app for creating albums of photos that are ON YOUR COMPUTER. The Camera Roll is photos taken with the iPhone. You cannot transfer photos from the Camera Roll to the Photos app directly; you must copy them to your computer using a photo management app on the computer. After they are on the computer you can sync them to the Photo app.

I do not use the Camera Roll for long term storage of photos on my iPad or iPhone. I use PhotoStream to transfer photos to my MacBook Pro. Once they are there I archive the best photos and discard those I do not want.
The best photos are then organized into albums. In my case that means using iPhoto on the MacBook Pro. Keep in mind that I also have backup copies of my best photos on two other hard drives.
Once the photos are organized in iPhoto I can sync those albums that I want on my iPhone. After I sync I'll delete the redundant photos from the Camera Roll on my iPhone.
Having too many photos in the Camera Roll makes that album hard to got through to find the photo I might be looking for. When they are organized into albums after a sync I can usually find the one I want fairly quickly.
I know you can copy a photo from the Camera Roll into another album directly on your iPhone. But that still leaves the original in the Camera Roll. Deleting that original from the Camera Roll will delete the copied versions. Leaving all the original photos in the Camera Roll makes the Camera Roll album with too many photos for me to easily find one. So I use the workflow described above. -
Duplicated pictures when sync camera roll from iPhone to iTunes

2 issues:
1. When I sync my iPhone to iTunes and iPhoto opens (if there are pictures on the camera roll not yet imported), the non-imported pictures appear to be duplicated.
It is obviously quite annoying as I have to go through and delete the second image manually. Does anyone know how to sort this? I don't have HDR switched on. I have tried un-clicking sync iPhone over wifi, syncing and then clicking it back on again and syncing. Both these issues only started when I upgraded to my iPhone 6.
2. My iPhone refuses to sync over wifi. Occasionally the icon of the iPhone appears in iTunes, but that is very sporadic when it choses to and not. When it appears to be in iTunes I click sync and it says an error message of sync not possible and then the iPhone disappears from iTunes and I have to plug it in with cable.
I have spent in excess of 12 hours discussing this with various Senior technical support teams members at Apple who display enthusiasm about trying to help me until the point in which they go home for the day and then thy do not bother keeping to their ringback appointment so it all has to start again from scratch with a different person.
Suggestions made: Replace handset: Done. Try connecting your computer to router via cable: Hilarious, but done. Restore iPhone: Done. Technical data sent to apple: Done, but never got called back at agreed appointment to discuss results.
So I am throwing this issue out to the community.

All of a sudden now when I sync my iphone and then look at photo's the "albums" banner is covering the camera roll selector making it unable to be accessed. So then I have to reset the phone and go through all of my settings and reset them to where they were before the reset. I'm not sure what's causing this, but the only thing that was different was that I had over 100 pictures in the camera roll. Has anyone experienced anything like this?
ThanksThis seems to be a common problem. The only fix I know of is to double-tap the home button to bring up the recently used apps bar. Find the Photos app. Tap and hold until a red x appears. Tap the X to close the app. Then tap the home button again. The Photos app should work normally when you next use it.

i solved my problem. i refer my iphone 5 to a local distributor. a repairman checked my iphone and i described my problem. he checked my battery. it was fine! then after an hour excavation around hardware solution he told me that the charging kit crashed because of heavy mobility usage!
yes. i did not covered my phone with any cover. the cpu pressure by ios update crashed the kit! now my phone get back after the kit changed and work finally. i restored my phone to ios 8.2 now.
i'm going to buy new iphone. but i'm really confused if such this issue really happened for iphone 6 too!!!!!

The problem Apps may need to be updated. Or maybe your iTunes account needs to just update itself on your iPhone. To do this, install a free App from the App Store on your iPhone. Tap App Store app on iPhone, select and install a free App. When that is done try the problem Apps to see if they work OK again.

I backed up my iPhone to my computer before I did the ios 8 update and now when i go t restore it it tells me there isnt enough space on the iphone. I lost half of my pictures in my camera roll. Is there anyway i can get these back?
You did import these important photos over to an alternative storage medium, just like you would with any digital camera, right?

Once the Device is asking to be Restored with iTunes... it is too late to save anything...
To minimise loss... Connect to iTunes on the computer you Usually Sync with and Restore from the most recent Backup...
