After ios 5 update cannot connect to home wifi

it worked just before i installed ios 5 and now I cannot connect to my wifi. iphone still connects

Same for me.
I have to reset my comcast modem to get the iphone to submit the password.
Otherwise i just get a message "unable to connect to HOMExxxx"
After I reset the modem then I get the password request.
Password should be retained in the iPhone.
Got the iPhone connected on Sunday night and then Monday morning had to go through the whole routine again.
Comcast password is many characters so this is problematic.

Thank you for your help so far though. Seems like so many people are having the same problems :(

  • IOS 6 update - cannot connect to wifi with proxy

    We have 300 IPad 2's to configure and they cant connect to our wifi.  Since the upgrade we can no longer connect our proxy network as we did before.  We use an explicit proxy where we manually enter the proxy address.  WPA2 Security.  We contacted Apple support and after an hour they said they didn’t know how to resolve the issue and needed to research.  This was 5 days ago so im reaching out to the Apple community.  We contacted our proxy support BlueCoat and they have escalated the issue to their top level support.  After the iOS 6 update we are basically dead in the water.  
    We select DHCP under our network settings and select Manual under the http Proxy settings.  After filling in the Server, port, authentication info and try to connect, it immediately brings up a safari page that states "Error Opening Page - Hotspot login cannot open the page because it could not connect to the server".
    The other issue we have even with iOS 5 is we could not connect to https sites.

    Our school is having a similar problem with the iPads that were updated to iOS6. We don't use a proxy but we have a Sonicwall and the user has to login to the Sonicwall before the device can have Internet access.
    Here is what I have found and maybe it will help you. The problem (for us) is that immediately after the iPad is connected to our Wifi it tries to contact the Apple servers in California. This connection is blocked by the firewall because the user has not had the opportunity to login to the firewall. The iPad opens a screen that is not part of Safari to allow the user to log into the firewall but they can't because a pop-up window is needed and this application has no settings to allow pop-ups. Under normal circumstances the user would open Safari and login but if we try to switch to Safari it cancels the connection attempt and disconnects from the Wifi. Obviously, this means we no longer have a connection to our Sonicwall. 
    The trick I am using to make it work is this. (Keep in mind, we don't normally use proxy settings). I set the http proxy setting for the particular network to AUTO. This causes enough confusion in the iPad that, if I am quick enough, I can open Safari and log into the firewall real quick. Once that is done it will work fine....until the user goes to a different access point.

    As my subject mentioned, after the ios 8 update, i cannot install or update app.  I have done everything like calling the tech support, follow their instructions etc.. Some of the things i had done were
    Soft reset ipad
    Hard reset ipad
    logout of itune store and login
    delete everything on ipad and restore from itunes.
    All these doesn't work and the problem keeps coming back again.  This is frustrating that Apple would release an update like this that would break my ipad air. On top of that, quite a lot of app are not working eg zinio, evernote.  My ipad air has been in this mode eversince the update release and i had mostly given up to resolve it.  For all other ipad owners, if you want to avoid this anguish don't update to ios 8.

    If you have the WSJ app installed, delete it and see if that fixes things. It immediately fixed it for me, but not for all people with the problem.

  • IOS 6 update, cannot connect to wifi.

    Prior to the update, everything was working fine. I'm trying to connect to the same router as before and it connects for a second, then a pop-up of the apple site comes up and says "Hmm, the pages you're looking for can't be found." I hit cancel, and the wifi is not connected. Essentially, it won't let me connect to wi-fi for some reason.
    I've restarted my phone. also, if I go to passbook and hit appstore, it will say "Cannot connect to app store." I have iPhone 4S, data plan and everything.
    Hope this will get sorted out.

    i went to settings, clicked the blue arrow next to my home network, then selected forget network.
    I got full connection straight away.

  • After 10.6 update, cannot connect to remote speakers

    After I updated itunes on my windows 7 (64 bit) machine to version 10.6.1.7, itunes does not show my remote speakers connected through an airport express.  My windows XP machine with itunes version 10.5.3.3 does show my remote speakers and can stream music to them through the airport express.  Both machines are on the same network behined the same firewall.  Furthermore all other "i" products in the house can stream through the airport express to the remote speakers (2 iphones & 2 ipads).  Nothing has changes except for the Win 7 itunes upgrade to 10.6.1.7.  Is there a way to roll back the itunes upgrade?  Or is there a fix for 10.6.1.7?

  • HT6065 Cannot connect to home wifi automatically despite upgrading to OS X Mavericks v10.9.1 Update

    My MacBook Pro is unable to connect to my home wifi although there were no problems in the past.  I realized that the problem was intermittent and then it became permanent.  Each time I have to manually connect to my home wifi.  This is despite having upgraded to the latest OS version Maverick v 0.9.1.

    See if anything here helps - no guarantees, but sometimes any one of the suggestions has been known to work:
    WiFi Problems:
    Wifi problems seem to crop up a lot on here and unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a 'one fix' solution.
    However, sometimes any one of the following can help although, unfortunately, not always. In no particular order:
    Check wifi security - if it's WEP change it to WPA or WPA2 (preferably, as it's more secure)
    Change the wifi channel on the router
    Create a new Network Location: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5289
    Reboot the router

    Getting WiFi to automatically join the correct network:
    System Preferences>Network>WiFi>Advanced Button
    Delete all networks you don’t want to join
    Tick the box ‘Remember networks this computer has joined’
    Tick the box ‘Change networks’ under ‘Require administrator authorisation to…’
    OK the changes
    Tick the box ‘Ask to join new networks’
    Apply the changes

  • IPhone 4S (iOS 6.1.3) connects to home Wifi, but not O2 or the_Cloud hotspots

    Hello.
    I have been having some issues connecting to hotspot wifi.
    I can connect to my home and office wifi without a problem, but my phone will not automatically connect to wifi hotspots. When I try to connect manually, the phone hangs on the login screen before giving the message below. The phone is set up on O2 wifi and Sky wifi, but the issue is common to them both.
    I have been told th eissue is due to the ports and Apple servers and there is currently no fix other than turning off wifi, then turning off cell data, then turning wifi back on - each time I want to connect to a wifi hotsport......
    Has anyone with this version of iOS solved it and if so, can they post a link to the solution?

    By way of an update, I downloaded 6.1.3 via iTunes and then reinstalled my Apps and set-up mail using new settings.  It was a bit of a pain, but at least it made me review the Apps I have.  I re-sync'd with iTunes to put the music and podcasts back.  I did not restore from a backup.
    I tried connecting to The_Cloud and O2 WIFI hotspots and it works fine (without having to turn cellular data off)!

    IMy iphone does not see my home wifi.  Nothing has changed, even after IOS 6.  My Ipad and iMAC see and connect just fine.  I reset everything on the modem and computers and again everything connects except the 4S.  I have verified and or reset all settings including no security.  It sees all the other netowrks in the area too.  Any suggestion.

    If there is no problem with the iPhone seeing any other available wi-fi networks or connecting with any other wi-fi network your iPhone has access to, not sure how it can't be a problem with your wireless router or network regardless if the iPad and iMac have no problem.
    No change after resetting network settings on the iPhone and/or after restoring the iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from the backup.

    I have the iphone 4S and I'm really getting tired of not being able to connect to my home wifi. My husband has the Samsung Galaxy S3 and has no problems whatsoever. I bought this phone for that specific reason amongst others but this is getting ridiulous. I'm about to take it to the Apple store and tell them they can have it back.     There are a few posters with that problem, Angie...this can be either an incompatibility with the router or a problem with the iPhone or iDevice.  Start with the Troubleshooting iOS WiFi article, see if that helps.  If you are having issues with the WiFi block on the iPhone being greyed out, see this article.
    Are you having problems only with the home WiFi or all WiFi?
    You might also try a reboot of the iPhone by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears and it restarts, ignoring the red slider if that appears.

    I own and run a small business with about 10 cell phones on contract. Two are iPhones, and the rest are Android.
    I have an iPhone 4s user who still cannot connect to Wifi despite trying EVERYTHING including factory reset.
    I have therefore had an online chat with Apple about this. They demurred from admitting that the problem exists, but did under pressure admit that it was a "sensitive issue". They offered a callback from a manager, and I have asked them to e-mail me instead as it's going home time in the UK.
    They are risking severe reputational damage by refusing to fess up to the unexpected consequences of matching an increasingly desperate series of software upgrades with substandard components. The problem is of their making, and until they admit it and take steps, they will lose customers.
    No cosolation to the wifi-less and bluetooth-less customers, of course. Great news for the manufacturers and owners of Android phones, though. The Android users have had no problems.....

    Probably because the DHCP daemon in the router has quit. Try rebooting the router by turning it off for about 15 seconds.

  • After 4.2 update cannot connect to internet

    Having just updated my Airport Express with the latest update 4.2 I now seem unable to connect to the internet. Yet when I the Ethernet cable directly into my powerbook, no problems. I've run the assistant countless times, Ethernet cable connected, unconnected, completed a hard reset and re-started everything. When I check the Airport Admin Utilty, all the information for my ISP has been detected by the unit and is visable and the second Express unit with printer and speakers seems unaffected. Is there a glitch in the update???

    Downloaded "Binary File" (see link) to desk top and uploaded using the Airport Admin Utility. This puts Airport back to it's 'box like' state. Did a hard reset on both units, run the Assistant and I am delighted to say...It's all systems go!!! So a big Thanks to Nigel!!!
