After iOS 5 update, where is Ping in the Music app?
Hi all. Before the iOS 5 update, when I was listening to a song with my Music app (previously called iPod), when I touched on the display to see the details of the song playing, there were 3 icons: Repeat, Ping and Random.
The Repeat and Random icons are still there after iOS 5 update, but where is the Ping icon? You know, the one with the "thumb-up" that, once you tapped on it, it turned on blue to say that you liked that song. That icon has disappeared.

I have Ping turned off in iTunes, thus will not appear on my phone. There is no separate app, Ping gets transferred to your phone if turned on in iTunes on your computer.

Had the same issue with my Nissan Rogue 2011.
This listed below will fix it...
Go to General > Restrictions > CarPlay -- Make sure Carplay is DISABLED. (The new IOS 8 enables this on default)
Go to General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
The Nissan Rogue radio system was never designed to work with CarPlay. By default, CarPlay feature comes enabled when you install IOS 8. Suckz, right?

Unfortunately, unless you know the Apple ID, there is absolutely nothing that can be done, you cannot use your mobile device. You may be able to find your Apple ID at Look up your old and forgotten Apple ID -

Mine either! It won't use my cellular or download with wifi! I also can't check my email, Internet is either slow or says server down, will not connect to icloud but will iTunes! And there is a few other things it's doing! NOT happy!

After loading IOS 7 i note that there is no longer a choice of how you want albums displayed in the MUSIC App!
I used to find it useful to display them all as a matrix and then choose by touching the relevant album cover!
This app now lists the albums as a list alphabetically which means I have to scroll thru the list to find the album I want.Can we have this facility back?

This is all about the experience and accessibility. I don't even mind if the new desing is beautiful or not, but if I find myself, like you, avoiding looking for my music, my experience becomes frustrating. I have about 35 albums of a single artist and I used to love going over them and choose the right thing for me, especially being on the road a lot, and now I have to think twice about even entering his name.
I really hope Apple will take those kind of things into consideration when they issue updates for ios 7, and maybe also give us back the goole search which was embeded into the spotlight search (which is really not that big of a request).
And for your 4s - get the new iphone, it's MUCH better -
Where did my ringtones go after iOS 6 update
After updating to iOS 6 my ringtones are gone on my iPhone 4? Anyone else have this issue? I can honestly say that I regret upgrading to iOS 6. First my music wasn't synching and I had to manually fix that myself, thanks to a post I found on here and now my ringtones are gone. The iOS 5 update was a pain in the rear, but this one is really making me consider a change.
When I connect my phone to my MAC and click on the phone in iTunes and then click on Tones only one of my ringtones show up. I had 5 or 6. When I go into my iPhone settings for sounds/ringtones the only tones that show up are the default crappy iPhone tones. Very frustrating that everytime I do an update I have to manually go in a fix some screw up. Steve Jobs passing will be the end of Apple.Strange that they don't show up in itunes. Where did you get these ringtones from?

After seven ios updates, why is iBooks still the only app that won't synch between iphone & ipad?!?

Thanks for the reply. I did think that could be the case but then other books would also show up as apps on phone but not counted as an app. Maybe book apps downloaded from the app store work in this way whereas books bought from the ibooks app show in ibooks and not as apps.
I guess that would make sense, it must be because they are books but downloaded from the app store rather than the book store so they are visible as an app but don't actually get counted as an app.
Would you think that's the case too?

Try a Reboot pess & hold power button & menu button hold both down until you see Apple Logo you will not lose any data This may help but the ipad 2 is a bit under powered for iOS 8 If you can a very good buy now is the iPad Air 32G Since they brought the new one out the price for this model Has come down by £120.00 That's the one I am using and it works great on iOS 8.1 Bsydd uk

Similar problem too with iPad 2. After updating it just continues to search and won't connect to 3G (verizon). I spent 5 hours at the local apple store and they couldn't solve the problem. There was another person there too with the exact same problem with an iPad 2 and they couldn't fix it either.
After all of this time they had no solution except to buy a new iPad ....... unbelievable. The issue is not a coincidence and it is obviously due to the software update. Apple's arrogance to openly address and fix the issue is astounding. Very poor customer service for a company that is supposed to be so progressive. -
Touch Screen unresponsive after iOS 8 update
My 1 year old 64GB iPhone 5 touch screen started to become unresponsive after iOS 8 update
It's not consistent. Touch screen functionality will seize whilst phone is being used for either answering calls, typing messges, surfing, gaming etc and won't become responsive until it is turned off and on again (via power button). Home button is functioning with no problems.
As the phone is now out of its warranty period I want to verify if it's the OS that's causing this or do I actually have a hardware issue.I have the same issue. iPhone 5, 1 year-old, not even a scratch.
Sometimes my touch screen works, sometimes not. When it works, it is just for some seconds, then some phantom touches start to happen all over the screen, but specially, when i'm typing, it types z or m, when I try to type something in, and it receives it, it will act as z or m again....
If I switch off my screen and switch on again... sometimes it will work, sometimes it wont... veeery unstable.
I considered downgrading to 7.1.2 but since I heard it is ilegal I decided to wait for a new iOS release.... any suggestions? (already wiped it and the issue continued...)
Is it really not recommended to downgrade it and have my phone funcionalities back? -

My iPod 5th gen is not turning on after iOS 8 update! Before this all happened, I noticed that my apps crashed unexpectedly, it was laggy, and it decides to reset on its own at times. I CAN'T charge or plug it into my computer. Also, my home button is sunk in but my sleep/wake button at the top is most definitely not. I know my iPod was not running out of battery and I did not even power it off. I am very disappointed but I really need it to turn on =/

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
Ignore the reset and when it says place the iPod in recovery mode
Place the iPod in recovery mode using one of these programs:

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

if you go to settings-General
You can select between using the side switch to lock rotation or mute. If you select one mute, then the lock rotation icon will show up in the control center. If you select lock rotation, then the mute will show up. THe side switch is then used for the other option.
