After iTunes 10.5 and Aperture 3.2 updates, Aperture will not recognize photos in iPhone attached to iTunes.

Any clues to getting images off iPhone now? Worked fine previous. Thanks.

I had the same issue after the updates and using iOS5. I disconnected my iPhone from the Mac, quit iTunes and reconnected my iPhone. Seemed to work. Only can't access the WHOLE camera roll.
Hope this helps someone. If I work out how to get the rest of the roll I'll post back.

  • Aperture will not recognize photos after failed import?

    Hi, I'm running a 13.3" MacBook Pro circa fall 2010 with 10.6.8.
I was uploading photos from an SD card I use with my camera.  I accidentally pressed "import all", and Aperture began to import everything on the card.  I did not want this, so I stopped it.  A pop-up appeared, something about "if I want to finish the import first," I think.  I pressed "no."  It eventually all stopped after canceling it 1 or 2 more times.
After this happened, I can no longer see the photos on the SD card when trying to import them in Aperture.  It just shows a grey background with "Loading Assetts..." at the bottom and the spinning wheel.
Why won't Aperture recognize these photos after this failed import?  And how do I fix it!
    Thank you, very much.
    -P.W.

When you are seeing Aperture stuck on "Loading Assets", try to select that line in the Activity window. If possible, press "Cancel task".
Can you now access the option in the "Import" window and check the setting? Make sure, that "Do not import duplicates" is disabled, and that the "Import Settings" do not exclude any filetypes.
Check the "File Types" brick and the "Raw&Jpeg" pairs brick. Can you now see again the images on the card?
In any case, repair your Aperture library after the force quit. Aperture 3 User Manual: Repairing and Rebuilding Your Aperture Library
Your Aperture library may have become corrupted, so that the Import dialog cannot access the database files inside.

  • Itunes will not recognize either my iphone or ipad any more since I've downloaded their latest update. I'm working with a Windows 8.1 computer. Can someone help please?

Itunes will not recognize either my iphone 5 or my ipad since I have downloaded the new Itunes upgrade on my Windows 8.1 system. I've uninstalled and reinstalled and none of that works. Can someone help with this?

I've uninstalled and reinstalled and none of that works.
Doublechecking. Have you also tried a complete uninstall of both iTunes and all the other related software components and then a reinstall? If not, try the instructions from the following document:

I have version 4.4.1 on my computer now, which is functioning properly - but does not read the .ARW files. When I download the link you sent and try to open it, it pops up as version 5 and I get this image (attached). This is my first time in one of these threads, not sure if i have to reply to each of you individually?
DdeGannes, could you please tell me how to recover the serial number from my operating system?

I can pair my iPhone 4 with my MacBook and my Macbook Pro but they will not connect. My iPhone keeps telling me it does not support this even with bluetooth turned on.The devices section keeps searching all the time. Is this an antenna problem? Or something else ?

Your iphone is right, it is not supported. The iphone's bluetooth protocols do not include file transfer, but are intendes only for headsets, stereo headphones, cars, and keyboards.

  • My USB ports will not recognize any devices, iPhone or external drives. Keyboard and printer work, any suggestions?

My USB ports will not recognize any devices, iPhone or external drives. Keyboard and printer work, any suggestions?

I'd start by looking in system profiler.
the blue Apple icon > About this Mac > More info...
goto the hardware section. Scroll down and click on  USB
See what happens when you have the device plugged in & not plugged in.
Move keyboard & mouse around to verify that ports work. Plug device in a port that worked with keyboar or mouse.  Keyboard usb ports are rather low power.
Perhaps device is taking too much power.  Are devices power or unpowered?  Try connecting devices to a usb hub.

  • Aperture will not recognize my camera

I am having two issues with Aperture that just started happening.
First... I use to store all my photos on my external HDD. Now, I've disconnected that HDD and am storing my master aperture library on my internal HDD. I've changed my library preferences. That's the only change I've made recently.
#1 problem. Aperture is taking forever to start running. When I click on the icon it easily takes a few minutes for Aperture to load.
#2. When I select File>import it easily takes 2-3 minutes for aperture to bring up the import window and when the import window does load it will not recognize my Nikon D70 slr at all. However, after being connect for, maybe, 10 minutes all the sudden aperture will recognize my camera.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

I have been using a Nikon 5700 camera for the last five or six years. Aperture couldn't recognixe the RAW files. I have been fiddling around trying to figure out what to do, bought software to convert files, copying, altering preference files, etc. What a pain. I just installed Lightroom and saw my entire photo library for the first time since I got my MAC

  • I Installed Aperture update today and Aperture will not open.

I am running OSX 10.8.2 and installed a new Aperture update today. Now when I try to open it says my libraray has to be modified.. I modified my current libraray and now when I attempt to open Aperture it crashes and lets me send a report to Apple but will not open up... I also updated iPhoto at the same time and it to says I must modify my library to run this update...I don't care about iPhoto at the moment... I am a serious photographer and want to get to my photos in Aperture and am unable to open it... Any one out there that can help me..?

There are so many threads here which contain the solution.  Have a read :-)

  • Aperture unable to recognize photos on iPhone

Recently I noticed that Aperture can not see or import photos from my wife's or my iPhone.  It first started over 6 months ago when it would give me an error saying video from my iPhone was an "unsupported format."  Every other app could read it but not Aperture for some reason.  Now recently when I plug in my phone to import my pictures the window is blank.  However if I launch image capture it shows the photos and videos that are on my phone to import.  I wasn't sure if anyone else has had this problem or knows how to fix it.  I've tried a lot of things, even completely wiping my machine and reinstall from scratch but Aperture seems to be getting worse and worse.
    Thanks!

The "File Types" brick in the Import Settings, as shown in your screenshot is looking incomplete:
    - it should look like this and show more options.
Try to exclude "file Types" from the Import Settings dropdown menu and add it again. If that does not help, remove the Aperture Preferences file and restart the Mac.  To remove the Preferences see:  Get help with Aperture 3 - Apple Support Trouble Shooting Basics
To reset your Aperture user preference settings to their original state, do the following:
    Quit Aperture.
In the Finder choose "Go to folder" from the Go menu.
Type ~/Library/Preferences in the "Go to the folder" field. Press the Go button.
Remove the "com.apple.Aperture.plist" file from the Preferences folder.
Restart your computer if you're using OS X Mavericks or later.
The locations of your Aperture libraries are stored in the preference file listed above. If you have stored your library outside the default location of  ~/Pictures/Aperture Library, make a note of where the library is before deleting the Aperture preferences file. If you have more than one library, you can bring up a dialog to choose which one to load by pressing Option immediately after you open Aperture.

  • ITunes will not recognize my new iPhone 4

I just got an iPhone 4 from Best Buy today. Everything has worked fine throughout the day until I tried adding my music on to my phone. I have an iPod Nano that has worked fine with my computer in the past, always synced smoothly when needed. When I try syncing and adding music from my iTunes to my iPhone, iTunes does not recognize my iPhone at all. It does not show up under 'Devices' in iTunes. My 'Computer' (Windows 7) recognizes the iPhone as a device, but nothing in iTunes. I've updated my iPhone software, uninstalled all Apple programs, and reinstalled all of them back on to my computer, with no luck.

  • Aperture will not add photos to existing Facebook Albums

    I am currently using Aperture 3.4.5 ..
I have a host of over 50 existing albums on my facebook and I regularly add content to them without any issues what-so-ever, however, two days ago, I tried to add 4 photos to an existing alblum using the normal method of: highlight photos, Share/Facebook, pick the album name from drop down menu, publish.  Normally at this stage, at the bottom of the Aperture window, it'd say something like publish or sync with Faceboon ... but not this time.
I then go to check in my Facebook tab under Web, click into the album and found that the photos which I wanted to add are showing a tick on them, suggesting that the photos are already uploaded onto facebook but the photo count does not match, for example, the album had 8 photos in and i tried to add 4 more, .. the photo count still shows 8 but inside the ablum, all 12 photos have ticks onto of them.

What is the source and details of the format of the photo that will not sync?
    Additional Information
Verify that photos are in a compatible format. On a Mac, these file formats will sync from your iPhoto Library to your device: JPG, JPEG, TIFF, PICT, GIF, PNG, JPG2000 or JP2, PSD, SGI, and BMP.
On Windows, these file formats will sync to your device: JPG , JPEG, BMP, GIF, TIF, TIFF, PSD, SGI, and PNG.
Photos without extensions may not appear on your device.

  • After full Time Machine restore, Aperture will not start

Aperture is the only application that won't run after a full restore from Time Machine. Any suggested fix?
I don't remember every using any Aperture CD's. It came installed on the machine and I've upgraded with downloads ever since. If re-installation is the answer, where do I get the download files?
    Thanks,
    Tom

Hi, you are not the only one to have this problem it happened to me the same thing. It was easy for me to fix because i had the disks i just installed over the top that was it. Without the cd key you are stuck you can try downloading the demo version again but i dont think that will work it may find your key and just install, download at http://www.apple.com/aperture/trial/ . Apart from that you say it was installed what on a new Mac ? if so contact apple and see they should have records of your purchase and help you out.

  • I just updated itunes and now it will not recognize that my iphone is even pluged in! What do I do??

I just downloaded the new itunes and now it wont recognize my iphone! I really need to update it! is there a way to make it show up?

  • IPhoto (and Aperture) will not start up when iCloud is activated.  Programme stalls and have to force quit.  If iCloud sharing and streaming deactivated, programmes load OK

IPhoto started locking up on loading having worked fine previously.  If I disable iCloud streaming and sharing programme starts up with no problem and works perfectly.  If I attempt to start iPhoto with streaming/sharing active the programme locks but if I then disable sharing and streaming it will then continue to load.  There are no other iCloud problems with other programmes as far as I can see.

Try this fix discovered by User photosb189:
From Finder, hold down the option key on your keyboard and click on the Go menu at the top of the screen
Select Library from the drop down menu
Then navigate to Application Support > iLifeAssetManagement > assets
Right click on the 'sub' folder and choose Compress
Drag the resulting zip file to your Desktop (as a backup)
Go to your System Preferences and choose iCloud
Turn OFF the iCloud Photos option
Go back to Library > Application Support and DELETE the iLifeAssetManagement folder
Now, in System Preferences, turn the iCloud Photos option ON
iPhoto should now be able to launch. Give it enough time to re-download your Photo Stream content. if you are missing any of your My Photo Stream photos (more than 30 days old), unzip the sub folder on your desktop and drag that into iPhoto.
    Back up first, of course.
