After itunes is closed i get warning saying data execution protection closed itunes
after I exit itunes I get a warning saying data execution protection cloesed itunes, this is after it has already shut down. I tried to exclude itunes from DEP but did not work. Thanks
I don't have a solution for you, but it seems that if you visit the iTunes Store at some point while iTunes is open then you don't get that error when it closes.

DEP Data Execution Protection prevents itunes from working?
Hi
I'm hoping for some help as DEP on Windows XP keeps closing itunes despite the changing the settings on DEP in the windows control panel (i.e. whether itunes is ticked or unticked in the appropriate panel). I do not think I have any quicktime programmes installed which seems to have related issues. Advice much appreciated, Thank you in advance.Doublechecking. If you install the latest version of the QuickTime Player, does that clear up the iTunes DEP?

I forgot the backup encryption password in iTunes how can I get my backup data back?
I forgot the backup encryption password in iTunes how can I get my backup data back?
You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; this can be done by clicking here and picking a method, or if your country isn't listed, filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

I need to reinstall itunes as I have a message saying that this copy of itunes is corrupted or not installed correctly. Is there a link to reinstall without losing all my music stored? Thanks.
Just reinstall iTunes. I done the same thing without losing my iTunes library.
BUT if you did lose your music follow through these:
Downloading past purchases from App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store.

In the near future, check through these (if nessessary):

When downloading itunes 10.7, I get asked to either repair or remove itunes, which is correct?

It means you have already installed iTunes on your computer. If your iTunes' version is lowere than 10.7, you need to click on "Repair" so it installs the newer version. -
Itunes with Vista, Data Execution Protection settings closes Itunes.
I star-up Itunes. It launches correctly. Once the Itunes window is open and my music librairy appears, Microsoft closes Itunes. The final message says its the Data Execution Protection settings that forced it to close. I try and change the settings by turning the DEP off for Itunes, but it says that it can't run without it and refuses to disable it for Itunes.
Called Apple, they say it's a Microsoft problem...
Called Microsoft, they say it's an incompatibility problem with Apple and pointed me here.
Any suggestions? After seeing Bill-Taylor's response, I decided to try alexloise's suggestion to see if it would solve the relatively minor Vista/DEP on iTunes shutdown issue. The short answer seems to be "no," at least in my case. The Microsoft link that turingtest2 posted gave me a big headache, but did not show me how to disable AutoRun for the CD/DVD drive. (If I understand correctly, other types of AutoRun should already be disabled if all Important and Recommended Windows updates have been installed.) So I tried the registry edit suggested in this article: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2254345,00.asp. Only then did I see the iTunes notification mentioned by alexloise:
Unfortunately, I continue to see the familiar DEP notifications when exiting iTunes 11.4. -
HT201413 Why does Data Execution Protection or lack thereof keep shutting down iTunes
Why does Data Execution Protection or lack thereof keep shutting down iTunes?
Sounds like you have a battry issue but don't want to believe it.
If a car was running fine on one tank of gas, then you filled it up with another tank of gas and it began to run funny, one might suspect that tank of gas. But let's just say coincidence blew a valve-- would you think the new tank of gas was the culprit?
BUT WAIT!! It just might have been! The gas could have been of higher octane and put more more strain on the valves; you know, like going from 87 octane (OS6) to 93 octane (OS7) and showing you the engine was on the edge of compromise.
Sometimes you have to go with common sense. If everything else is ruled out, it must be the battery. And if it runs fine one moment in OS6 but immediately ***** in OS7, I'd believe my battery was suspect-- though comfy-- in OS6 but the OS7 showed its true power.
Moreover, if you had the answer-- or didn't want to believe someone's more competent advice-- why did you even call? You've already shown that you don't know much when you asked if you could go backwards after setting up the new OS as a new phone.
Additonally, if you're such the know-it-all, but yourself the $29 battery and put it in yourself. It's a piece of cake.

Data Execution Prevention preventing iTunes from working
I have iTunes 8.0.2.20 running on Windows Server 2008 SP1. Whenever I plug in my iPod Nano, Data Execution Prevention (DEP) shuts down iTunes. I can't create an exception for iTunes in DEP since it gives the following error message:
+"This program must run with data execution protection (DEP) enabled. You cannot turn off DEP for this program."+
Any ideas on what might be causing this issue? No, i do not have quickTime player.
I have tried to close dep off for iTunes but failed to do so as i got a msg that iTunes can't work without Dep in execution data prevention. -

After downloading the 64-bit version of iTunes on my Windows 7 machine I get the "Congratulations, you've successfully installed iTunes" message. However, when I plug in my iPhone I get an error message that says, in part, "...the required software is not installed. Run the installer to remove iTunes, then install the 64-bit version of iTunes". I've been at this for hours, carefully deleting all Apple software (Apple Mobile Support, Quicktime, etc. and before each attempt to install the 64-bit version from Apple ( no third parties). Same result each time!!! Any ideas????
Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, does your device connect without that message now? -
HI,
I HAVE AN IPHONE4, I CHANGED MY PASSCODE BUT FORGOT WHAT IT WAS THE NEXT DAY, AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO UNLOCK MY PHONE BECAM DISABLED AND SAYING IPHONE DISABLED CONNECT TO ITUNES, HOWEVER MY PHONE ISNT SYNCED TO ITUNES NOR A COMPUTER, PLEASE TELL ME WHAT DO I DO AND HOW TO REGAIN ACCESS TO MY PHONE?You will have to put your phone into recovery mode and restore the phone as new. Since you don't have a back up, you will lose all the data on your phone but you will be able to use it again.
