After iTunes upgrade, iTunes not playing music in Windows 8.

I just upgraded to the latest version of iTunes (ver. 1.1.2.31) on Windows 8.1. The prior version of iTunes worked fine, but after this upgrade, it won't play music. No error message, and it will play music videos. It says it's playing, and I can click from play to pause, but no sound comes out, and the bar doesn't scroll (so it's not advancing beyond 0:00 on the time of the song). Sound is fine on my computer, and I've even reinstalled iTunes. I also tried changing it to run as if on Windows 7. Nothing works. Any ideas?

Not sure why this worked, but I dragged my old iTunes Library file and iTunes Music Library.xml from the old computer into the new one, and it automatically worked. Weird fix, but I'm happy nonetheless.

I have traced the problem to a corrupted profile.  When I captured the images in question, I also used Color Cherckr to create a profile for processing.  When I apply that profile to the adjustments I make, I can no longer "Edit In".  If I use another profile, even one that I created using Color Checkr at a different point in time, I don't have the issue.  Something seems to have corrupted the new profile.  I will re-create the profile and see if the issue is resolved.

I'm searching for an answer to almost the same exact problem, using almost the same exact hardware and software. Has an answer been found?
The files that I'm trying to burn come from eMusic, and they are formatted mp3. Recently, (after the iTunes update to 9.2.3?,) they would not drag and drop from iTunes into Toast. From several different discussions I've tried working around this by dragging to the desktop first then dragging and dropping to Toast, going to Toast from a programmer's homemade help window, " iToons," and today, after talking with Apple support, going directly to Toast from my eMusic folder. Alas, all recordings do not perform like they use to. Sometimes they play and sometimes not. There is one I managed, that is listenable, but sometimes I have to put it in my car stereo over and over again as it gets ejected with an error code, sometimes, finally it takes it... Some of the recordings on other disks I've burned are not clean - they have white-noise sounds creeping in... I use to have none of these problems. One time as I was listening to a CD that managed to play, and it just stopped playing... Is there an answer out there to get back to how it use to be? Thanks for you help.

  • ITunes 11.4 not playing music

Songs do not play at all. When clicking on a song it doesn't play at all. No sound. Grey bar does not move at all. Help!

    I am not an expert but HAVE had many issues with my downloading CD's into iTunes on my iPhone.     I DO know that for music purchased from iTunes (that wasn't showing or allowing me to play on my iPhone); my iTunes match was not 'on' on my cell but was on my mac.  HOWEVER my struggle and unresolved problem is when I successfully download a Music CD to my iTunes library.  After I download a music CD into iTunes; it does 1 of 2 things (NEITHER is conducive to enjoying the music);
#1   It will transfer the CD to my iPhone but the entire playlist is 'Gray'd out' so clicking on it produces nothing.
#2   after 4-5 days AFTER i have performed the transfer of CD to my iTunes and synced to my iPhone, it will only ALLOW me to click on 4 or so songs.
I have been on the phone with Apple support supervisor and searched and spent hours playing with settings to figure out this problem.
My main issue with this is that I am a Fitness trainer so the Music itself is CRUCIAL to my business..  I don't understand how many can experience this problem and APPLE doesn't have a resolution clearly written on their support page (listed under iTunes, match, iCloud)    If you search these forums, you will see that there are many people experiencing the problem and for some an easy fix but for the life of me; no matter what I try; nothing allows me to 'ungray' the music.
This problem began with iTunes MATCH AND the new iCloud (i am a former MobileMe user and seriously i think that may be the problem).

  • Itunes 5 will not play music purchased from itunes music sto

Just transferred myself from my flat panel imac to a new powerbook & Tiger - updated to 10.4.2. In itunes, all seemed to be working fine till I noticed that music I purchased in the Apple itunes music store would not play! I get a dialogue box saying "This computer is not authorized to play "xxxx". and asks me if I want to authorize it. I do so using my AOL screenname and password and then I am told "Machine authorization was successful. You have authorized this for 1 computer. You have a maximum of 5". I click OK but nothing happens. If I try to play the just-authorized song, I get the same screen ansking me to go thru the authorization process again - to no avail. So strange that this just happens with the music sitting right there in the "Purchased" folder. itunes 5 rejecting its own children. What to do?

    Mike, Hi
Thanks for yoursuggestions. I did see that article, tried correcting the permissions, looked at a few of the other things, but this doesn't make sense. This would only be the second computer that had these purchased songs on them. SO the 5 computer limit should have nothing to do with it.
The weird thing is how the computer tells me that it's not authorized to play the purchased songs and gives me the opportunity to put in either an AOL code or an Apple ID code to authorize this computer to play the song. I do it. I get a message that, congratulations, the computer has been successfully authorized to play the song. But then it simply does not play and when you try to play it it just recycles right back to the original message saying that the computer is not authorized.

  • ITunes 7.7 not playing music

I have just upgraded from iTunes 7.6 to 7.7, everything worked fine under 7.6 but now in 7.7 my music won't play. I double-click on a song, it has the little speaker beside the song to say it's playing but the progress time doesn't move and no song.
    Anyone else have this?

I installed 7.7 this morning. As soon as it finished, I played a song, then a podcast to make sure everything worked. They both played just fine. I thought that was that and logged off.
So now I log back in and now I'm having a number of problems. Now, neither my music or podcasts will play back. When I synced my iPod, it locked everything my system up and I had to re-boot.
When I reloaded iTunes, the same thing happened. No music or podcast playback. Everything was just fine with the previous version; I didn't have any problems with it at all. Now this.

  • ITunes will not play music on Windows

I haven't listened to my music on the PC in a while, and today I tried. None of my songs will play. The little diamond doesn't even move, so it's not the volume. I did what the iTunes support site suggested: checked to see that the compatibility box was deselected in Windows; it was already deselected, so that must not be the problem. I can't seem to get any more help off of this website. Any suggestions???? Or, how do I get someone from Apple to help me?
    Thanks!

i think i just had to update itunes and it worked again. . .go figure!

  • ITunes 11 will not play music or video. Stuck at 0:00

Randomly, when I try to play either music or video in iTunes 11.0.5, the status of the interface goes to 'playing', but nothing ever plays - both video and music are stuck at 0:00.  Starting and stopping doesnt help and now my 87Gb of m4a lossless encoding is useless.
Any ideas how to kick start iTunes into playing?
Its also affecting quick-view in the Finder... perhaps a Mac OS X bug too??? Im running 10.8.4 on a MBP.
    Regards,
    Andy

This could be a problem with iTunes or QuickTime Player plug-ins, try testing with iTunes in Safe Mode by holding Option and Command while launching iTunes.

  • HT1349 My iPad will not play music or videos in iTunes or my music app what do I need to do to fix this?

My iPad will not play music or videos in iTunes or my music app what do I need to do to fix this?

Music plays in the Music app - not iTunes. Videos play in the Videos App - not in the Music App. Is that what you are doing? If you are using the correct apps for the appropriate content - quit the apps and restart.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

  • HT1349 most song in itunes library is not playing.reason?

most songs in itunes library are not playing. Reason?

    I have a similar problem.
I just bought 2 albums (Pirates of the Caribean III and Linkin Park - Mintues to midnight) and every time I want to play one of the songs it asks me for my account password. After entering it, it says this computer was activated. But it still doesn't work!!
If I want to sync I get the same message:
"Some of the items in the iTunes library were not copied to the iPod because they cannot be played on this iPod"
I've also bought a iPod-Game (Mahjong) and have the same problem...
    I have a 80GB video iPod.

  • ITunes Library.itl not valid music library file

"iTunes Library.itl not valid music library file" I get this error almost everytime I restart my computer. When itunes makes the new ".itl" file, not all of my music is listed in the library. I have read through a large amount of the forum posts on this topic and have not found a solution that works for me yet.
How can I stop iTunes from doing this everytime I restart my computer?
Is there a way to "repair" the damaged ".itl" so that I do not have to keep remaking my playlists?
    iTunes 6.0.1.3   Windows XP

It seems like the ITL file is not being properly written after iTunes closes. Then when you re-open iTunes, it cannot load the ITL file and creates a new one. Forcing you to recreate your Library manually, again and again.
    Several things to check:
-Double check to see that the ITL file or the folder it resides in is not read-only.
-Using Windows Explorer, right-click on the file (or folder) name, go to Properties.
-If it is, then close iTunes, change it, and reopen iTunes.
See this thread to reset the iTunes preferences: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=1216090#1216090
And see this post to use TweakUI to check the location and validity of your My Music 'Special Folder': http://discussions.apple.com/click.jspa?searchID=487067&messageID=1197027
Once the main cause of the inability to save the ITL file is corrected, you'll need to recreate your Library one last time to finally save it. No way to resurrect the original one, unless you had backup copies of the ITL file.

  • HT202213 Homesharing. I had my iTunes set up to play music through my receiver & speakers upstairs. I have airport with RCA plug ins to my receiver auxiliary jacks. Homesharing is on & everything checks out but it no longer works. Any suggestions?

I had my iTunes set up to play music through my receiver & speakers upstairs. I have airport with RCA plug ins to my receiver auxiliary jacks. Homesharing is on & everything checks out but it no longer works. Any suggestions? I have no firewall & I have removed Smith clean program to fix this issue. I am running OS 10.8.2

I called AppleCare this morning and Sean helped me out in a huge way. In all of my attempts, I had not done a factory-default reset on the main base station and apparently some sort of endless loop had occurred between those two stations. Sean was very helpful and patient with me, but now the system is working as promised. Moral of this story is if a factory default rest doesn't help on the "problem" base station, try resetting all of the units.

  • Itunes 11.3 not playing Film trailers or Purchased TV movies

Itunes 11.3 not playing Film trailers or Purchased TV movies, will only play music video trailers! Plays songs fine! Running Mavericks 10.9.4 on iMac mid 2014. Have 8gb ram and 1.4ghz processor with turbo boost to 2.4ghz. So it is not a power issue. Is this a bug in the newest version of iTunes?
