After kernel 2.6.27, X does not start
Hi guys!
Since I made the much awaited (and sometimes dreaded) pacman -Syu, the latest kernel was installed. Then, I updated ndiswrapper to the latest version (1.53) and catalyst (I actually downgraded that one from 8.9 to 8.8). I then rebooted and did the usual login at the shell and then I issued the command
startx
As stated in the title, X would not start. At first, it would say that the DRI module could not be loaded. I reinstalled catalyst and added
Section "DRI"
Mode 0666
EndSection
to xorg.conf and the message stopped appearing. Still no X, however. Is there a known issue with this kernel with catalyst? Will there be a new catalyst release for the new kernel?
Anyway, I reinstalled kernel 2.6.26, catalyst 8.9 and ndiswrapper 1.52 and I'm up and running, but I would like any information.
thanks!
EDIT 1 : Oh, ndiswrapper won't work even with kernel 2.6.26...
EDIT 2 : Up and running, with this link http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=54224

I guess the problem lies, again, in the ATI drivers. It seems to me that I had much less trouble on my desktops (which were all equipped with nVidia cards...
Anyway, I'll stick with the old config for now, hoping that one day my problems will be solved...
Now, don't get mad at me and say that Arch Linux is not for newbies and that I should try to solve these myself, but I am not a developer and being a student I don't have much time to learn to code .

After downloading mountain lion the internet does not start automatically after start or restart but if I use diagnostics it starts is there a simpler solution?
Extensions can sometimes be the cause of problems. If the problem does not occur in Safe Mode, then you can disable your extensions one-by-one until you find out which one is causing the problem. See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]

Hi Everyone,
My app has been rejected, with error code 2.2 that it exibits bugs namely "After purchasing the subscription the magazine does not start to download.".
When I've gone back to test my app on the ipad, I've realised that it doesn't say 'purchased' after confirming the subscription, and instead it still says 'buy' and the subscribe button is still enabled.
I've followed the instructions in this article: http://helpx.adobe.com/digital-publishing-suite/kb/subscription-fail-ios-renditions.html, I've set all published dates to the 29th of October 2012 both in the Folio Producer Organiser and in itunes connect (Newsstand, in-app purchase section) and it still doesn't work. I've entered the secret code in the administration area also. The subscription product ID is identical in itunes connect and the Viewer builder. I've deleted the app and re-downloaded it multiple times on the ipad, updated the folio in the folio producer many times...
Can anyone see what I might be doing wrong? Is there something I have missed?
I appreciate your help.@FLTAron, were you able to resolve your issue, 'cause I am facing exactly same issue

Hi everybody,
I installed the CS 5.5 Trial on Windows 7. Everything was ok, so I started InDesign and said accept to the License Agreement. But the program does not start, the license window always opens again after clicking accept. Can anybody help me?
Thanks!Make sure to run with full administrative privileges the first time you launch the progrrams. Otherwise the licensing stuff will not be able to kick in and verify our trial period.

After extraction of the file, firefox does not start on my computer.
the file says it is extracting and then nothing happens. when i manually try to click open the file, it just tries to extract the program again.
Try to disable your anti-virus software temporarily as it may be blocking the Firefox installer.

Server Does not start after backup complition
Dear All,
We are facing following problem some times after backup completion.
Our Setup is : SAP ECC 6, Oracle 10g, HP-UX 11.31.
We are scheduling the whole database offline + archive log backup during night.
After completion of backup the SAP does not start. I have checked the following things.
1. Database is started : OK.
2. SAP related services at O/S level : OK
3. Listener is OK
4. No startup log generated related to SAP
But I am not able to connect to SAP thru SAP GUI.
If I tried to start SAP using startsap it will not respond for long time. Even I have tried to startsap after shutting down database, kill all SAP related services at O/S level. But startsap doesn't respond.
When I restart the server, after that I am able to start SAP.
Is there any memory fragmentation related problem ?
Before some time same thing is happened with our production server, but at that time I have deleted Archivelog files manually before tacking backup. In this case if I take backup "whole database offline + archive log " then server doesn't start. At that time also I have to restart the server. So the Problem is identified.
But in this case i.e on our Quality Server not able to trace out problem.
Thanks in Advance,
NiravHi,
Yes the problem is related to memory. I think during the backup memory is allocated but not release after completion of database backup.
in case of archive log backup what option your are using means are you using save and delete option or other.
In the case of the production server archive log backup you to use to the option save and delete.
Please also check wheather core file getting gernerated should be deleted frquently from work folder.
Thanks & Regards,

WebAnalysis does not start after workspace is set on Windows Authentication
I've used [doc Hyperion System 9.3.x Configuring the BI+ Workspace for Single Sign-On (SSO) with Internet Information Services (IIS) [ID 1100096.1] to configure SSO for workspace users. It works fine. Though since then the WA service does not start anymore. The error message which is raised sounds very very familar but still I am not able to tackle it. The message in the log or the analysis console is "[WARN] [STANDBY] ExecuteThread: '1' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default (self-tuning)' com.hyperion.analyzer.utils.general.HYAUtil - Wait for workspace [
[WARN] Timer-2 com.hyperion.analyzer.utils.general.HYAUtil - ."
I am very sure it had something to do with rights/ permissions, but also after playing around with IIS and ntfs permissions for hours I can't get SSO en WA both working at the same time.
As soon as I set my workspace aplication in IIS on windows integrated, the SSO is working but as soon as a I restart the WA service it fails to start. When I set the workspace application IIS on anonymous the WA service start fine but then the SSO is not working anymore.
It drives me crazy.
Hopefully its a small matter for you to solve!
Thanks in advance.Dont know exactly whats happened but I presume something went wrong during the update procedure.
If you will be not able to start the notebook in the safe mode or to boot the notebook then user the Toshiba recovery CD to gets the notebook working! -

59I always recommend migration rather than upgrade installation, for any server when moving across major versions.
That said, please post relevant error messages from your server logs (system and mail),
which you can easily view via the "Console" utility (in Applications/Utilities on the server itself). -
After upgrade to 2.6.28, vmware workstation does not start
After upgrading to the 2.6.28 kernel, vmware does not start. It complains with:
Could not open /dev/vmmon: No such file or directory.
Please make sure that the kernel module `vmmon' is loaded.
I have found that I can run the following command to load the modules:
vmware-modconfig --console --install-all
But after a reboot, the modules aren't loaded again.
Not sure how to get the modules to autoload properly. You need to go to the wiki under Installing VMware.
Search until you find 2. Start and stop script
Create the script in /etc/rc.d directory and make sure you chmod 755 the file.
Add mkvmdev to the rc.conf file under daemons.
This should now work properly.
I was able to get it working using Vmplayer. -
I have a MacBook Pro early 2011. Does not start. After the apple show, a blank screen appear. The service said that the problem is with the video plaquue in the logic board. Need to change. Cost lmmost the same than a new MacBook Pro. Somebody has the same problem? What we can do?
I hate to break this to you, but life isn't fair. If your job is that critically in need of a computer, then you should have a spare to use for just this kind of situation or have your employer provide you with a computer to use.
Computers break down, just like cars. If your car breaks down do you curse the car maker or get it fixed? Surely, you paid more for your car than the computer.
This is reality. Best get used to it because it won't get any better. -

Same thing happens when i click restart.
No difference when i run it in Safe mode. And it won't let me create a new profile either. Is there anyway else i can extract my bookmarks? This is driving me crazy!Did the crash reporter send any crash reports?<br />
You can see the crash reports in this folder:
"C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports"
See: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Breakpad
See also [[Firefox crashes when you open it]]
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.<br /><br />
See [[Basic Troubleshooting#Make_a_new_profile|Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile]]<br /><br />
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins"<br /><br />
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)<br /><br />
See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox<br /><br />
If that still causes the same problem then do a clean reinstall and remove the Firefox program folder.
* Download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
* Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
* Don't remove personal data when uninstalling.
* It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

After upgrading to Lion, Image Capture does not work, even though it is intel software. Gives error 9931. What gives?
Ouch, if it is indeed damaged, then sadly you need to restore the whole danged huge OS!
Didn't used to be this way before Lion/10.7.
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
If that doesn't help Reinstall the OS.
