After Lion upgrade Mail can't move messages to trash or send new ones.

Since upgrading to Lion my mail programs have behaved oddly. In Entourage, the search mechanism does not find any messages. Switching to Mail, it is unable to delete messages or send new ones, though I can read mail.
Also I have tried sending docx attachments which the recipients are unable to open even though they normally can open docx. Did something change with Lion?

It will even sync to whatever you do on your computer online, for ex: I created a save folder for my emails and moved several emails from my inbox to my save folder online via PC. Any changes I made reflected on the iPhone as well and vice versa... I'm still having trouble with Gmail though, I even deleted my account and entered it back in. I also noticed that even if my emails are marked as read online, they still appear as new emails on the iPhone. Again only problems are with Gmail.

After 1.1.1 can't move messages

After the 1.1.1 update, any message I try to move to another mailbox (move from trash to inbox etc.) just disappears! I've already done a complete restore through iTunes to no avail. Every other aspect of Mail, or the iPhone for that matter works fine.
Am I the only one? Please help.

After firmware "upgrade" I can't move apps tp SD card on Ellipsis 8

The tablet doesn't have very much memory for apps so I put in a 64GB SD card and mioved a lot of apps there. I recently "upgraded" the firmware/software to version 4.4.2, and now I can't move apps anymore. Not to SD card, SIM card, or anywhere. There isn't enough memory to install the apps I used to have working just fine. How can I get apps to move to the SD card again? Has Verizon taken a bad idea and made it worse?

Can't move messages to trash on iPhone 5

I created a new IMAP email account on my iPhone 5. When I try to delete a message, I get a message saying ?Unable to Move Message. The message could not be moved to the mailbox Trash."
I've had an IMAP account on this phone from a previous hosting service, no problem to delete messages. I have no problem deleting from the same account on my laptop and tower. I'm wondering what the issue might be.

Recently, I adjust my settings because of the error message.
Here's the guide:
How-to fix this error
1. Press the Home button on your iPhone and choose Settings.
2. Scroll down and click “Mail, Contacts, Calendars” from the list.
3. Click your email account – it should have an arrow to the right of the email address displayed.
4. Scroll to the end on the settings and click Advanced.
5. Scroll down and tap the empty IMAP Path Prefix.
6. Enter INBOX in capitals, then click ‘Accounts’ at the top left and click ‘Done’ at the top right twice to close the settings.
7. Press the Home button and then re-open Mail.
8. You will now be able to delete or move your emails on your iPhone without the error message appearing!

hi thanks for help with this its Brawney just a follow up i easily upgraded my hp desktop machine with ssd. i used the data migration software that comes along with the samsung magician software with 840 evo 250 drive.
basically the instructions in samsungs ssd drive box show pictures in instructions that make you think you need to have a usb adaptor that attaches drive from outside to do this on desktop. I didnt need this adaptor on my desktop. What you do need is a sata 3 cable to attach drive to motherboard when you open it up. Also inside my hp desktop there was a place to put my ssd that fit its size 2.5 but you need 2 screws to attach drive which the drive didnt come with. you could probably just rig it in there with a small piece of electrical tape lol. So all i did was back up my favorites from browser and files on my machine i thought were important just to be safe . Next i installed disc that came with samsung ssd with data migration software and samsung magician. Next i opened up case with everything turned off with power cord unplugged from case and attached drive to motherboard with sata 3 cable. next i turned machine back on . then in win 8.1 i right clicked start button and selected computer management then said yes to pop up then selected storage and then clicked on disk magementment to see if new ssd could be seen inside there. I believe i right clicked on area where ssd drive was to be and created new simple volume and said yes or next to all defaults that popped up. This made drive be seen. i think another way to double check if drive can be seen is to open samsung magician real quick to see if it sees the new ssd. here is a good youtube video that is good for if you want to learn how to make drive be seen(partitioned/initialized) and if you still wanna use hard drive that came with hp as a second drive https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qMo8krAJd5Q this video also talks about going into bios and switching boot order so new ssd is first in boot order which is somethin you do after you do data migration. Now that your ssd drive is seen just open up data migration software and hit start to move your operating system and all data on it over to new ssd . after this finishes you need to turn machine off then turn it on and then hit f10 to get into bios on hp machine watch you tube video if you need help you just need ssd first in boot order now so you boot to new ssd Once this is done you can open samsung magician software and check drive performance and click sections to optimize new ssd to run best.. I was gonna buy win 7 and do clean install but screw it i saved money i cloned os over and it runs quicker In the magician software im getting 531 mb on sequential read and 495 on sequential write and i did not use rapid mode its good If anyone wants to ad anything to this if i missed anything please do to help others Niccii helped me so i thought i would help also

Probably the most straightforward way to get iTunes onto your second computer is to network it with the first one and copy your iTunes folder across. Start by consolidating your library. When you consolidate, any songs in the iTunes Library that are not in the iTunes Music Folder are copied to the Music Folder and the Library is updated to point to those new files. Files already in the iTunes Music Folder have no changes made to them: Copying all your iTunes files to one location - Windows
Copying the whole folder brings with it the iTunes Music folder and also the iTunes Library (iTunes Library.itl in Windows) database file which holds all the information about your songs (Playlists, Ratings, Play Counts, Last Played, Date Added, etc). You'll get more information including the Folder/File structure in this article: What are the iTunes library files?
When you copy the iTunes folder make sure you put it into the default location on the new computer. On a PC this is \Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\My Music\ (or C:\Username\Music\ in Vista). You should also use the same version of iTunes on both computers.
You can also use this method with an external hard drive, you drag the folder from the first computer to the external drive and then from the drive to the second computer.

Can I Move apps from my acc to new one

I have an ipad 1 and have just won a new ipad. I was going to give my old ipad to my daughter but wondered if I can transfer her apps, movies, books etc to another account so that she cannot read, delete, move any of my stuff that may download to the old ipad?
Or can I just create another id for future use and then on itunes turn off what I dont want downloaded from my account?

Apps cannot be transfered between accounts. As for simly continuing to use the same AppleID on both, you can turn automatic updates off for the iPad. And I suspect you would want to restrict the ability to make app and in app purchases on it as well.

I bought a Sandisk Connect Media Drive, downloaded the app from iTunes. Before iOS 8, movies played fine. After iOS upgrade I can no longer play movies downloaded from iTunes to the media drive. Anyone else have a similar issue?

I checked with SanDisk's own online support and they indicate that they have notified Apple of the issue.
According to SanDisk, the problem lies with Apple not having the iOS 8 version of the Safari browser having DRM decoding enabled that the Media Drive relies upon to decode and play iTunes DRM titles. Non DRM encoded videos will play in the browser.
DRM audio is not effected as this is handled by the native iOS music app.
As of the date of this post SanDisk have not been given a timeframe by Apple for this issue to be resolved.
I hope that Apple resolves this issue quickly as I have a large collection of DRM video titles on a 128Mb memory card installed in the Media Drive that I am unable to view.

After installing Mavericks my email isn't allowing me to draft a new message. I can see my messages, but cannot create a new message or reply to any messages. When I try nothing happens, then Mail freezes all together.

I was able to get into my Mail settings and everything looks ok as far as I can tell.
Has anyone else seen this? My software is completely up to date now (unfortunately).

Do a backup.
Quit Mail.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Go to Library/Containers/com.apple.mail. Move the folder com.apple.mail to your desktop. You must move the entire folder, not just the contents.
Restart, re-launch Mail and test. If the problem is solved, recreate any required Mail settings and import any emails you want to save from the folder on the desktop. You can then put the folder in the Trash. If the problem remains, return the folder to where you got it replacing the one that is there.

Time Machine lost all backups after Lion upgrade

After Lion upgrade TM asked me to perform a 13 hours backup; I've agreed but now the oldest backup is 3 days ago. What is happened?

I can't help here, but before I upgraded my old G5 (OS 10.5.8) TM popped up a message saying that old files had just been deleted. That was what TM does when its HD is getting full. But this was strange because I knew that I had lots of TM space, and since the last use of the conputer (about 2 hours before) I certainly had not saved to the internal HD several GB of files. To my astonishment, all but the last 4 weeks of files had been deleted, back to Jan 2010! GetInfo said that the space left was about the same as before the incident, whereas it should have shown a huge amount of free space.
I deleted all the remaining backup files and started again. It shook my confidence in TM's ability ot provide a reliable backup system. Now I regard it as a useful source of recovering old versions of files (eg., text, images etc.), rather than as a means to restore the system hard drive. Fortunately, I have been using Carbon Copy Cloner for years to make bootable backups of the whole system HD which can then be used, by simply cloning back to the system HD, to get back to work using the state of the HD when I last cloned. Alternately, the clone on the backup disc can be simply examined in the Finder to recover individual files.

In Snow Leopard it was an option to send pics from Preview to iPhoto, but now it is greyed out if I right-click on the pic. I have searced and tried everything, but I cannot fix it, so does anyone have a fix for it? Please :-)

I can offer no help but would also like to see this issue resolved. Firstly, it would be useful to know if this problem is seen by everyone. When viewing photos in Preview, with thumbnails in the sidebar, right-clicking on any of the thumbnails results in this:

Back up all data before making any changes. Please take each of the following steps until the problem is resolved.
Step 1
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, and the problem is just that you can't print PDF's displayed in Safari, you may be able to print by moving the cursor to the the bottom edge of the page, somewhere near the middle. A black toolbar may appear under the cursor. Click the printer icon.
Step 2
There should be a setting in its preferences of the Adobe application such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected.
Step 3
If you get a message such as ""Adobe Reader blocked for this website," then from the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
and check the box marked
Allow Plug-ins
Then click
Manage Website Settings...
and make any required changes to the security settings for the Adobe PDF plugin.
Step 4
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:

The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others — I don't have a complete list. Don't remove Silverlight if you use the "Netflix" video-streaming service.
Step 6
Do as in Step 4 with this line:
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari.

I DVD Soft Frame template issue after Lion upgrade.

Hello, I've just updated my os to Lion but the Soft Frame template in iDVD, (7.1.2) is no longer working correctly. The light coloured background which covers the right hand side of the frame is missing and has been replaced with black. This issue effects sub menus as well. Existiting and new projects using Soft Frame suffer from this problem... Any ideas would be gratefully received! I have tried re installing iDVD but this had no effect.

OK I fixed it, sort of. The .tif file which provides the background image had disappeared. Even deleting IDVD and its themes and re-installing didn't work. So here's what I did:
1) Make a new background. This can be any graduated colour field which you can make on any paint programme such as GIMP. However I grabbed the background from the `Forever' theme which is beige and adjusted the hue to turn it from brown to the blue which was close to the old 'Soft Frame' backing.
Here's how to find the 'Forever' background:
Go to your hard disk and look for Library/Application Support/iDVD/Themes/iDVD7/Forever-Main.theme
CTRL click on it and select `Show Package Contents'
Expand the contents folder and then the resources folder and look for the .tif file marked Forever-Background.tif
Drag this into your photo editing programme and change the colour to what you want.
Save the new file as tpt.tif on your desktop (there is a reason for this filename)
2) Replace the defective backgounds in the `Soft Frame' themes
Go to your hard disk and look for Library/Application Support/iDVD/Themes/iDVD7/Softframe-Chapters.theme
CTRL click on it and select `Show Package Contents'
Expand the contents folder then the resources folder and look for the file marked tpt.tif and delete it
Drag the tpt.tif file you saved to your desktop into the Resources folder
Now do the same thing in Library/Application Support/iDVD/Themes/iDVD7/Softframe-Extras.theme
And do the same thing in Library/Application Support/iDVD/Themes/iDVD7/Softframe-Main.theme
Next time you launch iDVD it will pick up the new backgrounds.
It took me about 10 minutes.
Now I've found where the backgrounds are stored (if you select Project...project info in the iDVD menu the media pane lists the full path) I realise it is easy to put your own backgrounds into any of the existing projects.

Garbled Audio After Lion Upgrade

I've scanned the forums, but the only audio bug I can find seems related, but not identical to mine. I just installed OS X Lion on my Mac Pro (2x2.66 GHz Dual-Score Zeon with 4GB Ram). Now all of a suddenly all my audio sounds garbled, almost inverted. Some musical elements are strong, but human voice is indecipherable. This is completely strange.
I've tried messing with preferences, and the Audio MIDI Setup like some others have suggested, but to no avail.

Putting the computer to sleep and waking it works for a time, but it eventually returns.
A quicker fix which likely does the same thing is to send a kill -9 signal in Terminal.app to the "coreaudiod" process and force it to restart.

You are on Windows 2000, you do not have a "Firefox" button, and should consider yourself to be fortunate in that you still have menus and don't have to do anything to get the menus back instead of the "Firefox" button. (The same applies to Windows XP users).
Use the "File" menu to get to Import. You are not on Windows 7 or Vista, and don't have to put up with the nonsense added for Aero.
If you want the "Firefox" button you can get it with View -> toolbars -> (uncheck) Menu Bar. The menu bar and the "Firefox" button were supposed to be mutually exclusive (which is impossible in some cases without being incompatible).
Once you are using the "Firefox" button ...
Use the "Alt" key to view the menu bar (temporarily) containing File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, and Help. On Windows 7 and Vista, the menu bar was hidden by default in Firefox 4 and above. These menu items are more or less available under the "Firefox" button which has the most used of the built-in Firefox menu items available in a different format.
To get back to having menus again. "Firefox" button -> Options (second column) -> (check) Menu Bar
