After loading Itunes gift card...thrown away months ago...now need verification code again....
Hi All! My son received an itunes gift card for his birthday a few months ago. He loaded the gift card onto his ipad and it worked a few times when he made some small purchases. Now, months later (itunes card discarded) he wanted to buy a game to find that it requires payment verification (using the verification code on the back of the gift card which is gone). His account shows a balance but evidently he cannot use it with the code. Is there a way around this?
Under Account Settings....
it says "Your credit card is about to expire. Please update your payment method." It has the last 4 digits of a credit card that we don't recognize so we are assuming it must be the iTunes card he loaded last April. It's asking for the "Security Code". The expiration date month is also in red with the number 2 next to it (meaning February) and the Year is masked with the four dots.

Check your account's purchase history : See your purchase history in the iTunes Store - Apple Support
If nothing shows then try logging out and back into your account on the computer/device that you are using.
Neither updating your account id and/or password, nor deauthorising your account, nor deleting content from a device or computer's iTunes library will affect your balance -
I have remaining credit at the iTunes Store, but will not let me use without entering 'your Gift Card or Download Code' which, of course, was thrown away months ago, when I first put the code in! Originally it was put into my computer, now I'm trying to redeem on my iPhone. Anybody have any ideas....I mean it IS my money! Thanks Ruthie
What you are saying does not make sense. You redeem a card once, that's it. It doesn't matter what device you are using, as long as it's using the same account, you will get the reminder of your store credits.

Hey. I have received an iTunes gift card, so I was all excited, punching the code into the "redeem" option on iTunes on my iPad2; however, I kept on getting the alert, "This is not recognised as a valid code". It is very legible, though. How come?
The obvious answer I think is that maybe you are not entering the letters and numbers correctly. I almost never get it right the first time when I use a gift card.
Try entering the code again - slowly and methodically. If it still doesn't work - look here for help.

One final thought - if you are using a gift card that was purchased in another country - say like you have a Canada gift card and you live in the U.S. - that card will not work in the U.S. iTunes store. -

I think I had a similar problem the other day. I purchased an app with a cc that had been canceled by my bank with out me knowing it had been. Once I realized the cc was no longet active I added an itunes giftcard thinking that would allow me to purchase items. Well everytime I tried to ourchase somrthing with the new gift card it kept telling me that I had no funds. So someone in the apple store told me that until the app purchase with the old expired cc cleared on that cc then i would not be able to use any other form of payment. So I had to call my bank and asked them to reactivate my old cc for a couple seconds while I repurchased the app with my bank on the phone. Once that purchae cleared then it allowed me to use apple gift cards. Sorry for long answer but I think this might help you.

I changed my AppleID password this morning and now I can't load gift card numbers into iTunes to download music. The system takes me to the account settings screen to verify those and when I click on DONE, it takes me back to the password screen and I start over. This becomes an endless loop. What now.

After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help with gift card issues. It contains a number of troubleshooting steps and helpful advice for the issue you are experiencing:
If you can't redeem your iTunes Gift Card or code
Contact iTunes Store Support
If the code is completely scratched off or you still can't redeem your gift card, contact iTunes Support:
Go to the iTunes Store support page and choose your country.
From the menu on the left, choose Contact Support.
Click Contact iTunes Store Support.
Follow the instructions.
iTunes Store Support might ask you to send these things:
Image of the full front and back of your gift card
Sales receipt showing when your card was purchased
Serial number from your gift card

iTunes Store: Invalid, inactive, or illegible codes -
Redeeming credit from gift card for itunes. System asking for securitity code and gift card is thrown away.
On the main iTunes store screen, click on Redeem on the right side.
Put in the card number.
It will ask to *Create new account* or *Use existing account*.
If you do not have an account, select *Create new account*.
You don't have to enter in a CC number. You cna if you want but it's not required. -
My itunes had 50$ on it now it only has like 4.16$ on it , I didn't spend any money what the heck???
Go to iTunes, view your account, view your purchase history. If you see things you did not purchase yourself, or anyone else sharing your account, change your password immediately and call ITunes support. Your account may have been hacked.

All iTunes gift cards are country-specific, you will need to be in the US with a US iTunes account and billing address to be able to use a US gift card.

Are you able to take it back to the store that you bought it from and ask them to activate it properly ?
