After losing and restoring datebook files in ver 6.2.2 thoughts

If the Datebook.mdb.bak is a backup file couldn’t we rename it and since it has 1336 kb instead of approx 3000 like the others maybe it would be the correct info from before my crash 3 days ago without all the dupes .If that is correct can I copy it to palm desktop backup data and import it into calendar via import or change the extension to what is the correct extension for the caledar to use it as its active file )if you know for certain) *** I am strictly guessing but I think the file named plain “datebook “ with no extensions is the active file being viewed in the desktop because it is the most recent (yesterday at 1126 PM) and the file type is Data Base File .db .Is it possible that , that is the way ver 6.2.2 by access files in conjunction with Vista

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

There are two different resets. The reset you did involved holding the sleep/wake & home button.
The other reset will do exactly what it says. That reset is located in Settings - General - Reset.

Mail Repeatedly Crashes after Initialize and Restore 10.6.4

After the suggestion by a Mac Specialist over the phone over a months time with issues about all of my iLife apps quitting. A initialize and restore was suggested. I did it and now I have a new a problem with MAIL.
Now MAIL repeatedly crashes and quits. Help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks, Kappy. I did upgrade to 10.6.5 and decided to go ahead and extract the CUPS file from the 10.6.4 updater using Pacifist. The file was indeed in the 10.6.4 combo updater, which I had no trouble downloading (with your reassurance), although it took quite a while to download. I actually used instructions given by MacFixit (which had alerted me to the printing problem in the first place) to do the extraction. All now seems to be working fine with printing in 10.6.5.

IPod 4th Gen has white screen after replacement, and restore

Okay. Here's the problem. A while ago, I dropped my iPod, and it's screen cracked. I've been living with it ever since perfectly, but just with a cracked screen. Now, I ordered a new screen, and I begin to replace it. I knew how, and like an easy job, I did it pretty quick compared to others. After both ribbon cables where in, I pressed the lock button, and my iPod had a white screen. I was a little worried about that, so, I tried to reattach the screen. Now it was just black, after even using the home and lock button restart method. Eventually I got it back up and to the white screen by draining the battery and recharging, and there I was again, stuck. I looked at some forums on the internet to try to see if anyone had my problem. After clicking on the first link, it turns out, alot of people had this problem as well as me. The solution they said was pressing the home button and lock button for about 10 or so seconds, and then it goes to the apple screen and is all better again. I tried it, and my home button broke. Great. So, now I had to use the little button that the home button was pressing down to try the solution. Tried it, and, nothing. Still the blank, plain, white screen. Looked some more and saw that pressing the home and lock buttons along with the volume up button worked for some people too. Tried it, worked just as good as the previous one. Nothing. I even tried some person's idea of doing home, then volume up, then lock, in different timed stages. Nothing. I also saw people begging for them not to restore their iPods and begging for a solution. I was fine with a restore, I just had games that I played on my iPhone as well. So, I went with it, and restored it, without any backups, just going to factory mode. Afterwards I heard my iPod make the iOS "plugged in" sound, and anxiously tried the lock button. Still had the white screen. STILL. Now, I'm here, begging for a solution like others, with an iPod that won't function properly. Can someone please help me?

No nothing like that happened, I'm sure, but I actually spent the day looking for a fix. Luckily, I had the idea of taping the spring down because I though the screen didn't touch it. Turns out I was right, but however, I found out that the screen I ordered was broken in a way, because it still had the white screen after the taping. Just to make sure, I tried the other screen to clarify if the taping worked or not. I did the home and lock button restart, and up popped the apple logo. So, that means that the screen I got from the seller was either a rip-off, or was just broken somehow in process of making, or delivering in some matter. Unfortunately, I think I can't ship it back unless for alot of money because the person I got it from comes from China. I live in the USA. So that's gonna be a matter to work with myself. My coworkers and I have been running into an issue when we use documents that have multiple artboards. After we do ouer work, we save and close the file. When we go to reopen the file, all but the first artboard have disappeared. Looking in the Artboard panel, the original artboard counts up after every save.
For example, say I were to create a new file and add a couple artboards. After saving, closing, and reopening the file, the additional artboards would be gone, the artwork on those boards would still be there, and the original artboard would be labeled as "Artboard 2". If I were to add the missing artboards again, the same issue would occur and reopening the file would have the first artboards labeled now as "Artboard 3".
I am using Illustrator CS6 and saving the files as an .ai with the default settings.

How to retrieve original RAW image after cropping and opening RAW file?

I have a Canon EOS 350D camera and now have PSE 9. I have taken some RAW images & imported them into PSE 9 OK. I know the original RAW image is retained after editing. However, after cropping a RAW image in the Editor and then "Opening" and "Saving as" a PSD or JPEG, I then close the image in Editor and the cropped image appears in the Organiser. That is as it should be, I think. If I then wish to start again from scratch on the original RAW image, it seems to me that I have to manually delete the edited version and the .xmp file in Windows Explorer, and then double click the original RAW file in Windows Explorer, which then opens correctly in PSE 9 Editor. Can this be done from PSE 9?

When you open the original camera raw image, go to the flyout menu
and choose Camera Raw Defaults, that resets everything but the crop, straighten,
and rotatate settings.
To get rid of the crop and/or straighten settings, click and hold on the crop tool and choose Clear Crop.
To reset the Image rotation settings, you have manually rotate back using the image rotate buttons.

Show and Restore Hidden Files From The TM Interface.

Hello All,
Just wondering if anyone knew how to restore hidden files and folders from the Time Machine interface. For example how to navigate to ~/.bash_login or ~/.profile or get to /etc and restore with TM. Do not think there is a command line interface for TM but that would be very cool. If anyone knows and solutions to this issue, thank you in advance for your help.

Thank you V.K. the menue -> go worked for me and no I do not see the private etc tmp or other in / in finder, always navigated there in terminal.
The reason I was asking was that I corrupted my sudoers files by editing with TextMate and not vi but fixed now, thanks to your help. Restored, edited with visudo and works great. As far as editing files in /etc there are many that sometimes need to be edited by hand but sure that there are other ways of doing so, just not aware, such as ssh_config, sshd_config, hosts, httpd, apache2, bashrc, and others. All pervious edits have been fine using TextMate -w but seems that sudoers is a different animal.

how old is the phone? was this the first time you are putting your sim in the iphone? if it is it might be locked to a previous carrier...if not, try to do a restore again and see if it picks up the sim card after. do the restore while the sim card is intact, and then not intact. otherwise, you'll might have to take it to an apple store to get it looked at.

I have a third generation iPod Touch that I have been having problems with the cover art not displaying by the correct artists and the volume automatically adjusting after spell check has corrected a word. I backed up and restored the device and reinstalled the operating system, which fixed the bug I experienced with the album art not displaying next to the correct artists. Since that has happened, my computer no longer recognizes my iPod. How can I get it to recognize the iPod Touch again?

Make sure you have the laters version of iTunes. The latest is 11.1

After effects and premiere linked file problems

Premiere won't open after effects linked files, keeps crashing. (I haven't moved the files)
When premiere opens all the ae files are offline, I try to re-link them and premiere crashes everytime.
I have tried importig the ae files into pp without dynamic link, still crashing.
I am new to premiere from fcp.
Using imac, 10.7.5, 16gb, i7.

Are you getting an error message? If not, what is the last thing that the startup screen says?
It may be a problem with something in the preferences folder being corrupt. Try deleting the entire preferences folder and restarting. See this page for the location of the preferences folder.
It also may be that you have something running in your admin account that is blocking a port that is needed for internal communication for After Effects and Premiere Pro. See this page for more detail about that possibility.

After effects and Premiere Render files?!?

I recently rendered quite a bit of video in both after effects and premiere and now 30gbs are gone from my hard drive. I know they are not in the final video file, but where might I find these temporary render files so I can delete them? Thanks!
