After MAc Book Pro update NO Camera on SKype

Updated my MAc Book Pro to OS Yosemite 10.10.2 and updated skype to latest version and since then NO camera. I can see the person I call they can only see a black/gray screen although my camera on my screen is shining green.

I have checked photo booth and that tells me my camera is off.
The green light on my screen is working.
I have checked the USB header on the system profiler but cannot find it in utilities.
I ahve switched the computer off and have had it off for a longer period of time.
All sstill no camera. It seems that everything points to that the camera is there but does not want to funtion in relataion to anything.
What to do or try?
As I am heading for China end of the week, it would really be great to have this skype working so I can check in with my kids whilst I am gone.
Appreciate and am grateful fo any help that can get it to work.

    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
Upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mavericks
To upgrade to Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8, Lion, or Mountain Lion installed. Purchase and download Mavericks (Free) from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
         OS X Mavericks- System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mavericks
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) —
                 Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
    Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table — RoaringApps.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.

  • Mac book pro update - blank screen - still going or not?

    Hi,
I (extremely stupidly) set my Mac book pro to go ahead with about 4GB worth of system updates without backing up the machine first. It's about 1.5 hrs in, the screen has been black for the entire time but the fans are still going.
I'm not sure what to do - leave it go and see what happens?  Is there a way to cancel it and pretend I didn't push 'go'?

Anyone? Please, I'm stressing a bit. Probably deserve it. Silly!  Can anyone suggest if its maybe still doing its thing?

  • Mac Book Pro update stuck on loader bar

Last night I choose to update my MacBook Pro to the latest OS. I left it running overnight. 12 hours later and its only at 50% on the progress bar of the installing software update screen and it appears to have made no progress in the last serveral hours.
What should I do? How much longer should I wait?

Press and hold down the Power button until the computer turns off. The update is frozen. Check to see if you can restart the computer.

  • Using existing backups after Mac Book Pro replacement?

I have been using Time Machine backups for several months and now much swap out my MBP. I plan to basically clone my user directory onto the replacement MBP. Is there a way to continue to take advantage of the backup history I have in place from time machine?

There's a much better, easier way. When you start up your new Mac, the +Setup Assistant+ will ask if you already have a Mac, and want to transfer your settings, users, apps, and/or data from it. There's a brief video towards the end of the Time Machine Tutorial
Is there a way to continue to take advantage of the backup history I have in place from time machine?
Yes, assuming your new Mac is running Snow Leopard. Go into TM Preferences, and select the old Leopard TM backups as your TM drive. When your first backup starts, you'll get a prompt asking if you want to "re-use" the backup or start a new one. Take the "Re-use" option.
Your first backup will, of course, be fairly large and lengthy (the new version of OSX at a minimum). In addition, Time Machine may very well do a new, full backup of everything, or, as a few folks have reported, say it will, and delete a lot of old backups, and take a very long time, but end up only backing-up the new version of OSX and a few other things. We haven't figured out yet just why it sometimes does one thing, sometimes another.

  • Itunes will not launch after upgrading to 11.1.5 with my 10.6.8 mac book pro

as soon as I upgraded to the new itunes, when clicking on the icon in the dock I noticed the icon bounced up and down once but itunes never opened up. Tried it latter in the day and it still would not open. My operating system is 10.6.8and I have the current apple updates installed up to this date today. the funny thing is I waited on the itunes update, and then decided to go ahaead and upgrade and soon as I did, well you know what happened. If I could ask a second question, what if I just went back to the original software version when I bought this computer, would I have less problems. I tried this earlier because of problems with flash and my nikon software needed the apple upgrades to work (they no longer make the older version). BUt when I worked it on the original software everything worked great (no nikon) but I could not see the videos on youtube, and other internet content on various sites. So my question is, if I decide to cut and run back to my old home, how could I solve the the flash problem or could I just get an earlier version of flash? My mac book pro I beleive came with 10.6.4, or what ever they had about three years ago around November. But this itunes thing is really bothering me and if I can fix this then I will avoid any further iupgrades even if someone puts a gun to my head. Just kidding. Thank you again for your help

My MBP (15", early 2009 model, 8GB RAM, 1TB internal drive) showed in Software Update as not needing any other updates, and I downloaded from Apple's site directly and installed iTunes 11.1.5 rather than doing it via Software Update (I've had some glitches with the 'direct' install from SU in the past, so I manually download updates from Apple's support website instead).
Hoping Apple will figure out what's wrong with this version under 10.6.8...

  • How many Mp is the Mac Book Pro laptop camera?

Cause allot of my friends say the camera is not really Hd.
And i tell them yes it is HD and better then windows to...
But when i buy a Apple Mac Book Pro Is the Camera HD and does not lagg when people chat on Skype?
How many MP is the camera aka Mega Pixels ?

Different MacBook Pros have different resolution.
My mid-2009 13" is 0̸.3 MP (640x480 pixels). This does NOT qualify as "HD".
However, my early 2011 15" MBP is 1.2 MP (1398x874 pixels)
which DOES qualiffy it for the "HD" 720p standard.
Your retailer should be able to tell you the specifics for the particular MBP you are considering.
If you want to test a Mac for yourself, how I do the test is here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread/2620732
Use as much light as possible and a fast internet connection for best possible Skype picture.  BTW, broadband speed matters at BOTH ends, so you use something like http://speedtest.net/ to test both ends of your video connections.

  • How can I buy black rubber feet for my mac book pro mid 2009

MY 2009 Mid Mac Book Pro bottom pad came off.  Very very poor design.  These should last forever.  I noticed that this was a design or product failure.  Thus I need the part number to order them.  Cant seem to get any assistance.

I have located the pads on Ebay.  I biggest issue is the design for removal and install.  Yes nothing last forever!! If you look at the message boards they are failing on new product also.  Poor design any way you look at it!!

  • G4 vs New MAC BOOK PRO

I have G4 tower but Im thinking of buying one of the new Mac Book Pros they just came out with. I have heard how the towers are better then the Mac Book Pros for logic. But I was wondering if the Mac Book Pros are bigger and faster then my G4 wouldnt logic run better on the Mac Book Pro?

Just for comparisons sake. A buddy of mine just bought a mac book (not pro) the generation just before the current models and it runs the same performance or a bit higher performance than my dual 2.0 G5 PPC. Until the track count get up there you can run the logic sessions of the internal.
So it will seem like you G4 is standing still compared to the new intel laptops.
The macbook for the money is a kickin machine.
There apple videos for Logic show a guy working on a remix he's running the whole session (a pretty big one) from his mac book pro's internal drive.

  • I have a new mac book pro with osx 10.8.1 and it will not upgrade to 10.2

my new mac book pro retina 13" came with os mountain lion 10.8.1 and it will not let the app store upgrade it to 10.2 and will not let applications for 10.2 upgrade either.  it keeps saying that mountain lion is not compatable with this device.

Your computer needs a special OS X version that it hasn't been launched. Wait until Apple releases it

  • Got the mic working in Skype w/Windows 7 RC 64 bit on Mac Book Pro

I managed to get the mic working in Skype running Windows 7 RC 64 bit on my Mac Book Pro.
It's a Skype problem. The program automatically selects the DIGITAL input. You need to change it to the RealTex internal microphone.
From Skype, go into Tools -> Options -> Audio Settings and make sure the microphone is selected instead of the digital input.
    Works for me.

You may need to modify the installer script that may block anything beyond certain build; or install drivers individually.
Boot Camp 2.1 is now over a year old. There ARE newer drivers on newer later copies of OS X, both retail (10.5.6) and OEM, and in order to be "compatible" those are still 2.0.xxx versions. People have run into trouble installing their newer BC only to have BC 2.1 corrupt their install.
Snow Leopard includes later drivers and part of BC 3.0.
I bought Leopard (10.5.0) before I needed or wanted really to - I felt it would need six months to work out the kinks, but I also wanted 'new' Boot Camp, too. Well, it had 2.0 all right, but same drivers as Boot Camp 1.4 beta from Sept '07 and earlier.
Windows 7 is pretty good about finding what is missing or needed, but there are some motherboard specific drivers it may not provide. Some news sites have said that later builds than 7100 have support for Nvidia logicboards and others that were missing or problematic... but I'd hold off and avoid leaked builds.
If you can tolerate or live with limited functionality or source drivers and patch things, even the Apple installer and drivers, you may be okay.
I'm impressed, Windows installer, update, ability to rollback, check points, and how well it runs. Much more reliable and stable and problem free. One thing I would do is make sure you have enough room, and allow 20GB / 24% free space just so you have a couple restore check points in case you need to. It is all too easy to use 10-15GB for those and come in handy.
Any vendor that writes API and drivers has found they have their work cut out, and that of course includes Kaspersky and others.
The first and only time I attempted to install Apple Setup Windows put up an alert "Known Incompatible" known to cause stability issues or something. And I was and generally do use the Windows 7 Compatibility Mode for installing drivers (control click).
