After Mountain Lion install, my iMac powers off instead of just going to sleep. Help? Thanks.

After I installed Mountain Lion on my 2009 iMac, it will power off after I don't use it a while. It used to just go to sleep, I'd shake the mouse, and it would come back up. Now it powers off and I have to power it back up every time.
My Macbook has NOT had this problem since Mountain Lion install. It is fine.

Do these resets to clear errant commands:
SMC RESET
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and ALL peripherals.
Wait 15 seconds.
Attach the computers power cable.
Wait another 5 seconds and press the power button to turn on the computer.
The 5 second timing is important to a successful reset.
PRAM RESET
Zap the PRAM
Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.

  • Calendar not syncing after mountain lion install on iMac

Installed mountain lion on my imac.  entered calendar event on my iphone and have never had problems with imac and iphone syncing.  now, when i did a hard sync from iphone to imac, calendar event didn't transfer.  I tried to trouble shoot and did the reverse way - imac to iphone with a dummy calendar event - that didn't transfer either.
please advise what might be going on...
    thanks

  • Problem with mail after mountain lion install

Mail has become sluggish to locking up after Mountain Lion install.  I get the color wheel each time I start typing in an address to send an email.  I also get the wheel when i am typing an address or name in any web page in Safari.  Is this a Mail Problem or an Address Book problem?

It sounds like your computer needs to be cleaned up. Have your repaired permissions or cleared caches since you got the computer. Often times when upgrading operating systems permissions get screwed up and it causes issues.  Go to disk utility in your "other" folder in applications.  Select disk utility, then on the left hand side choose Mac HD then click REPAIR permissions in the center section. Wait for it to finish, restart your computer, then test.

  • External Hard Drive lost after Mountain Lion install

Recently, I installed Mountain Lion on my iMac, which had a Fantom Technologies Green Drive (2 tb) drive attached to it.  I had partioned the drive as one 500GB partition for backup of my iMAC (using Time Machine), and the second partition for media storage.  The drive was working fine under Lion.   When I open DiskUtility, the drive doesn't show up.  I've tried using different USB cables, different ports on the back of the iMac, powering off the drive, resetting the computer, nothing works.  Can anyone help me get my drive working again?

sorry I found the other thread, I had searched with Rockfish and not ROCKETFISH....

  • Trackpad issues after mountain lion install

Since my Mountain Lion install, the trackpad on my 15" MBP will track, but won't select anything.  Hot corners aren't working, the dock won't appear, etc.  Anyone have any suggestions?

Got similar issues, no notifications and no switching between full screen apps (4fingerswipe). Some swipe features work, no secondary click in bottsom corners...Trackpad operational under Mountain Lion a total nuisance compared to Snow Leopard...PLease Apple, show some respect again to your faithfull customers and show some response!

  • IMac not working after mountain lion install

Upon re-starting my iMac instead of going to log in page it went to re-install mountain lion, reset permissions etc etc page. After re-installing mountain lion I receive error message upon logging in and while using guest account the App Store, iMessage nor iCloud recognize my credentials. I read it may have something to do with moving my home folder off the SSD start up disk and onto the 2TB drive which I did months ago and have had no problems. My question is W.T.F is going on, I've never had problems with my Mac and all of a sudden I can't log in. Can anyone point me towards the solution to the problem ?

    A  couple of questions:
    1. What system version did you upgrade from (Snow Leopard, Lion etc)
    2. Did you use Migration Assistant?
    3. Do you have Time Machine or any other kind of backup?

  • I have iMac 27.  After Mountain Lion install, my trackpad freezes partially after deep sleep and need to restart to get it working again.  anyone with same issue?

I have an iMac 27 and installed Mountain Lion last week.  Since then, after a deep overnight sleep, certain of my trackpad functions are frozen after i wake the Mac.  i need to restart the computer in order to get the trackpad fully functional.  Anyone with same issue or ideas?

I'm having the exact same issue with Mountain Lion on my 2008 17" MacBook Pro. I've just tried the SMC reset, so we'll see how that does. The problem was intermittent, occuring not after every wake--from-sleep, but every few.
Interestingly, my 2007 17" MacBook Pro is also running Mountain Lion (the oldest MacBook Pro than can!), and hasn't had this problem at all.

  • After Mountain Lion installed, 27" late 2009 iMac won't sleep

    As the title says.....
Worked fine since new, but with Mountain Lion, it won't auto sleep. I have a numbe of iProducts, but only this one isn't working. Energy saver settings are fine.
Desired behavior is after a few minutes the screen goes dark, then spool down after 15min, but it never happens. It will sleep if I hit the power button.

  • After mountain lion install, lost some of mail.

after installing mountain lion, my mail lost most of its folders,  i went to time machine backup and nothing showes up before the install. can i get them back?

Then you need to purchase a copy of Snow Leopard. You cannot install Leopard, Lion, or Mountain Lion without first erasing the hard drive if you don't have Snow Leopard installed. You cannot reinstall Snow Leopard without a Snow Leopard DVD.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
If you need to purchase Snow Leopard you can still purchase a copy from Apple's online store's telesales agents.[1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753) or Customer Service and Sales Support at 1-800-676-2775.] Ask for a Sales Representative.
Third-party sources for Snow Leopard are:
    Snow Leopard from Amazon.com
    Snow Leopard from eBay
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store.
If you need to purchase Lion call 1-800-692-7753 or 1-800-676-2775. Ask for a Sales Representative. They will check your Apple ID, and email you a code and instructions.  The cost is $29.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download.
Be sure your computer meets the minimum requirements:
Apple - OS X Mountain Lion - Read the technical specifications.
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
    iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)

Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
    Are my applications compatible?

  • Messages won't work with iMessage after Mountain Lion install

I previously had Messages Beta installed on both my Macbook and iMac and they worked great.  Now I upgraded to Mountain Lion and Messages works fine on my iMac, but not on my Macbook.  It defaults to Bonjour and when I enter the Apple ID info I get a message "Your Apple ID "[email protected]" can't be used to set up iMessage at this time.", and it says to contact customer support.  What is causing this and does anyone know how to fix it?

    HI,
I must admit to not having two computers to try this on.
The one I do have is an iMac and updated from Lion to Mountain Lion with Messages Beta still active in the Lion build and I did not have any problems.
I can see that the iMessages servers could be getting confused as you are trying to use the same Apple ID on the MacBook as is in use on the iMac.
Try going to the preferences in Messages on the iMac and Disabling the iMessage Account whilst you set up the nmame in a MacBook

  • Mac Mini crash after Mountain Lion install!

I just tried to update my wife's MacMini to Mountain Lion and when it went through the first restart, it never came back up. I checked to see if it was the monitor after searching here for a while, I am using a Samsung TV coming off the HDMI port. I plugged in a regular monitor to the mini display port and still nothing. I tried to do a hard restart after letting it sit for about 10 min and now it sounds like the hard drive is barely spinning up. Anybody have any ideas?

Oh. You are so in jail.
Plug the mini straight into the wall power supply.
You do have 4 - 8GB memory installed, right?
Disconnect everything but power and the display port to regular monitor connection. Make sure that external monitor is switched to the type of connection: DVI, HDMI, VGA. Wrong setting and your mini could be booted up sneering at you from behind a dark screen.
    Boot mini.
    Any change?
