AFTER MOVING, I NO LONGER HAVE SOUND AND IT NO LONGER RECOGNISES USB DEVICES
After moving, my usb devices are no longer registering and mac pro believes it has no speakers. I have installed all updates, switched on and off and checked system preferences for sound. Any suggestions?
yeah-a few. repair permissions, do a SMU reset, click on the sound on the top of your screen while holding down the option key. that should bring up a list of all sound inputs and outputs . Also, mess around with Audio MIDI (it's there somewhere). Something might have gotten messed up or set incorrectly.

Some of my apps on both my iPad and iPod Touch no longer have sound. Others still do. I checked general settings. Any other ideas of how to fix this?
If you lose sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds may have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.

I have a number of apps on my ipad2 tha no longer have sound. I have checked the ipad settings and the apps that have settings and all sound and volume are ok. Do I have a virus? Pandora sound is ok. It seems mostly to be games...angry birds, tap tap, and educational games for little ones. Any suggestions?
There aren't any viruses for iOS devices. Have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the iPod and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound.
Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. I have upgraded to Photoshop Elements 13 running as a trial from Photoshop Elements 11 and mts videos no longer have sound. They still play perfectly with sound in 11 but have no sound in 13.

I no longer have sound when playing my clips through adobe premiere elements 12. How to I correct this problem? I have checked all audio levels and there is no mute on etc. I updated to 12.1, but still no sound in any clips. Even not on old files which used to work.

What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 12/12.1 running on? Can we assume that this audio plays back OK
on the same computer when you are using a computer player independent of Premiere Elements?
What are the properties of these clips that worked before but do not know with regard to sound
For now, I will assume that you are working on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit.
Have you checked the Edit Menu/Preferences/Audio Hardware ASIO settings? Do you have any 3rd party audio devices incorporated in your computer environment?
Please delete the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file and, if that does not work, then the whole 12.0 Folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists. The Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit path is

and, in the 12.0 Folder, is the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file that you delete. If that does not work, then delete the whole 12.0 Folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists. Make sure that you are working with Folder Option "Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives" active so that you can see the complete path cited.
Do you have installation files or installation disc with the purchased serial number in case we need to resort to uninstall/reinstall?

After installing Lion on my mini, I no longer get a "recognition sound" when I plug in a usb device. Is this normal?
I am not sure any Mac every had a sound for plugging/unplugging USB devices.
You may be right. It's only on Windows that the sound is created and heard.
I know that since Tiger on this MBP, when I plug in my external scanner, I never heard anything.
And plugging in my Blu-Ray recorder also does not make any sounds.
I cannot speak for anything but my Mac laptops, however. Desktop Macs might make a sound. -

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time when you had the problem. Select the messages logged after the boot, during the time something abnormal was happening. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
For example, if the problem is a slow startup taking three minutes, post the messages timestamped within three minutes after the boot time, not before. Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the beginning of the log extract.
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the entire contents of the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful. -
My zombie game and angry bird game no longer have sound on the ipad. The itunes works fine. I reset, but still no change.
The switch being talked about is next to the volume switch. It used to be the screen orientation lock but with iOS 4.2.1 it has been changed to a "silent" switch. When in the position where the red dot shows (closest to the volume up/down switch) it mutes system and game sounds but not music. Change the position of that switch and see what happens.

Hello. The Youtube videos I placed in a site made in Muse, don't have sound and don't auto play in my Android phone. Can anyone tell me why? The same video has no problems when I watch it at the youtube site on my phone. It has sound on an iphone, but doesn't auto play either. Thanks!

Mac mini 2.4GHz iTunes or Frontrow have sound and no picture.
I have had a mac mini 2.4Ghz since February and keep having the following problems:
1 - Every time I turn it on all videos through iTunes or Front Row have sound and no picture. If I reset it this resolves the problem but this is getting annoying.
2 - Occasionally the desktop background losses all my setting and diverts back to the standard setting. It done this today and now won't go back to my preferences.

I have tried the suggestion to delete Front Row Playlists and tried it with the screensaver turned off, no success.Hi there and thanks for the response... I can push the disc so it's almost entirely in the drive, but the drive still won't 'accept' and take it in.
It's a moot point now, being less than 14 days since the purchase I qualify for a replacement so I've taken the mini back. Here's hoping the next one works 100%!

I have an IPhone 3; when i checked my messages earlier some had been deleted. Upon looking at the settings i noticed my message settings have changed! I no longer have the option of how long to keep my SMS messages etc. Can anyone help?
The iOS settings for the iPhone 3 never had an option to determine how long you wanted to save messages. That settings is new to iOS8. As far as some being deleted, there is nothing about the phone that should delete messages without some user intervention. Try a reset on the phone, this will not affect your data. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The phone will reboot.

I have a new iMac 27" and just plugged in a Apple USB superdrive and get message, "Because a USB device was drawing too much power from your computer, one or more of your USB devices have been disabled." I am trying to load Office mac2011 what to do?
If you just bought the iMac and the Sjuperdrive take the superdrive back and get a refund. The by any other brand external DVD drive that connects by USB and try that. Most come with a Y USB cable to allow you to connect to 2 USB ports to supply enogh power to the drive IF Needed.
Or take both back and get a refund on both, you have 14 days to return it no questions asked, and buy another iMac and some other brand external DVD drive. -
Windows XP does not recognise USB devices after installing itunes 7.2
After downloading itunes 7.2 my PC no longer recognises my ipod nano (2G, 2Gig). Uninstalling itunes 7.2 and reverting to a previous version makes no difference.
On top of this my PC no longer recognises my external USB 2.0 HDD.
Uninstalling and allowing windows to rediscover USB devices \ hubs etc as per MS recomendations has not resolved my problem
Both devices function with no issues when plugged into my laptop.
Any suggestions on how to resolve this will be greatly received!

Justdoit2.Power down and wait... does not solve the "USB Device Not Recognized" problem in my desktop running XP Professional.
All five USB Root Hubs are stucked. I tried uninstalled them all and let XP to find new devices but afterwards the problem still remains.
By the way, I have a thousand songs stored in the iPod Nano (2nd generation). Will iPod reset erase all my songs?

USB drive with install image is showing in Startup Manager on a Mac Pro, but wont boot. Showing circle with cross strip, and shut down automatically. USB device are made and work on two different MacBook Pro, but used on Mac Pro. Any help?
OS X installers have always been fairly specific, hardware-wise. I haven't read anything reflecting that situation with the Recovery HD, so it may be that the Recovery HD created for the MacBook Pro does not have the necessary drivers for the Mac Pro. Obviously, nothing definitive here, but a possibility.
