After opening Firefox, how do I stop every new window I open from having old tabs?

Whenever I start Firefox, it opens a window with tabs I used from a previous session, which is what I want since I set it on Tools > Options > When Firefox starts. However, whenever I open new windows after I have opened Firefox, it always opens four tabs along with my homepage. I tried deleting the four tabs from history then opening a new window again, but it still opens five tabs in the new window. This started around last week. And I don't think I did anything different. I was just surfing the net as usual.

How can I get a new window to open in Front of the current window?

There seems to be a related setting for new Tabs, but not for new windows. I fail to see why many people would want to open a new window, but then not want to use it right away. It seems the default should be open the new one in front.

Is that hard drive usable at all? Like as an external disk in a USB hard drive enclosure?

When you quit firefox with tabs and windows open it "remembers". When you start Firefox it tries to restore the tabs and windows you had open.

How do i stop a new tab opening to a product advertising everytime i click on an item in an exisiting tab?

i was in a Mango Online tab. when clicked on a product for further details, a new tab eg: alibaba.com opens up automatically. this issue occured when i installed the Microsoft software update. Opening the Windows Task Manager and killing the PSE process is not a solution!
(Context: I want to start PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe from another program with an image filename as command line argument. This other program waits in background until PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe has finished and pops up again after that. Since PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe continues to run silently in background, the other program will never come back.)
