After OS X update,my mac takes forever to startup.

After last update OS X version 10.10.2 , my macbook takes forever to start up. It got really slow when browsing safari or opening apps. And overtime i have to turn it off, i have to press and hold the start button, while before this update i just had to press on the start button and the options (restart, sleep, shut down) will appear.

Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
    b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
4. Reinstall Yosemite: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall OS X from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.
5. Reinstall Yosemite from Scratch:
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
How to Clean Install OS X Yosemite
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • After the last update on Mac os 10.9.2 end of April - I

After the last update on Mac os 10.9.2 end of April - I opened Pagemaker and my whole system crashed after talkign with Apple, I had to erase everything on my hard drive.  I finally got it fixed and re-installed pagemaker cs5 and a few other program that I HAD to have while I was on vacation.  When I got home, I tried installing CC and various programs (pagemaker, indesign, photoshop etc. Had to erase all of the other adobe programs and start from scratch.  Every time I open ANY adobe products all of my "white space" is pink and white vertical striped in EVERY program. Apple mail, contacts etc.  If I completely shut down the computer and then restart everything is fine until I open an adobe product again.  I can't seem to get any help out of Adobe, does any one have any suggestions before I cancel my subscription entirely?
    Thank you in advance,
    Janie

You may need to ask for help in the individual program forums
This forum is about the Cloud as a delivery process, not about using individual programs
If you start at the Forums Index https://forums.adobe.com/welcome

  • After security update 2013 it takes forever to get internet. What happened?

After the 2013 security update on iMac it takes forever for internet access and for Parallels 7 to complete launching. How can this be fixed?

I would also report this to Lenovo since posting the issue on the forum is not the same as contacting them directly.
You've not indicated which machine, configuration you have.  I would boot and go into the bios since it may have changed something. Save and reboot seeing how it is then.

  • CS5 crashing after Java 9 update to Mac

The Apple forum today is full of problems experienced by people who just updated to new Java 9, Safari 5.0.4 and iTunes 10.2.1.1. None of my CS5 programs (Bridge, Photoshop, InDesign etc) are responding since I did these updates. I suspect that Java is causing the problem. Is anyone else experiencing loss of CS5? Any suggestions on how to fix will be appreciated!

    Hi,
I'm sorry you're running into this problem after performing your updates.  Unfortunately, you've reached the AIR forum and I think you'll find better expertise over on the Mac Creative Suite forums.  Would you mind reposting this over there?
    Thanks,

  • Update downloaded but takes forever long to apply. why?

    clicked HELP, ABOUT FIREFOX
    update downloaded, about 2-4 Mb
    asked to apply.
    Click apply.
The update takes runs but takes forever long. I never wait till it finishes.Don't know how long I should wait.

If it is progressing I would let it finish.  Otherwise I would terminate and try here before "erasing" ( I assume you mean placing in recovery mode) and then restoring.

  • After Bios Update through thinkvantage, takes forever for PC to be active

    Hi ,
I just wanted to say after lenovo update's very useful update, my pc now takes a good minute after boot-up for it to be responsive. Now, after boot, the connecting to internet circle just spins and stops. during this time, nothing else can be opened. when i click on itunes, the win 7 icon shows that it is active and then it goes dim again as if it was closed again. nothing works until the network is connected.
    thanks for the update...not
any suggestions to reverse this other than reinstalling win 7? or do i just have to deal with this inconvinence since lenovo doesnt realize their update actually messes up their systems?

  • Trying to update MacBook Pro, OS X. Yosemite from 10.10.2 to 10.10.3 (Recovery Update 1.0). After downloading the update, the Mac flips to automatically restarts and launches "Software UpdateLauncher." The Mac doesn't respond to any command.

Once I download the update (OS X Yosemite, 10.10.3, Recovery Update 1.0), after the system automatically restarts, the launch page is "Software Update Launcher." Looks like a typical menu bar, and the rest of the screen is blank. None of the commands work, though. Even trying to shut down via the menu doesn't work, and the only way to get past the page is a hard shutdown and restart. Once restarting, everything works as it should EXCEPT the update did not install.
This same thing happened with the previous Yosemite update, and I wound up taking the laptop to the Genius bar where no one was familiar with the error. After running virtually every diagnostic, removing a suspected out of date security application (Intego), the decision was to restore the Mac to factory pristine state. OUCH.
We have a MacBook Air, which has the same OS version and security and other third party software as the Pro, and it has not experienced this problem.
I've made another appointment at the Genius Bar, but I sure as heck don't relish the idea of having to wipe my Pro clean again and having to start all over. Time Machine backups are great, but they don't restore my system as though nothing happened.
    Any suggestions or proven remedies??
    Thanks.

Another thing that is probably relevant now that I think of it:
I forgot that the xcode_3.2.6_and_ios_sdk_4.3.dmg file would not open on it's own. It would get all the way through the verification process and then display "invalid checksum". I had selected Skip to bypass the verification process in the hopes that it would install anyways. Just ejected it and tried to verify it again, same "invalid checksum" error.
I've looked for solutions online and everybody just says to keep downloading it/have a wired connection and to use Safari... I've downloaded the thing 5 times now meeting both of those requirements and the exact same issue occurs every time.

  • Why is my iMac so slow now?  Ever since I did the latest system update yesterday everything takes forever.

Ever since doing the recommended system update yesterday, my iMac has been e-x-t-r-e-m-e-l-y s-l-o-w.  I get a spinning beachball with every mouse click, even just clicking on a red dot to close a window.  Any suggestions?

    Try Applejack.
    Download:
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/applejack/
    Article on using:
    http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-10334620-263.html?tag=mfiredir
It runs in single user mode. After installing (you won't see it in the Applications Folder) hold CMD-S at startup. You will get a black screen with MS-DOS like text. Just follow the prompts: type in "applejack AUTO" and it will run through the following:
    Correct any Disk problems.
    Repair Permissions.
    Clear out Cache Files.
    Repair/check several plist files.
Dump the VM files for a fresh start.
    Trash old Log files.
You can also run tasks selectively and for specific users by typing in "applejack." After running in "AUTO,"  you can go back and run it again as "applejack," steps 3 & 4 only, for your user.
The first reboot will take much longer than usual, as it rebuilds caches. It may take several restarts to see the benefits. Because of the deep cache cleaning in AUTO mode some applications may tell you they are being opened for the first time.

  • No audio after latest security update on mac mini

it seems that my audio out from my mac mini into my tv stopped working after i updated the last security install. is anyone else having this problem?

I have the same problem.  Yes, a restart brings back the HDMI audio (the internal speaker was always working too), but it only lasts until it goes to sleep for a long period...usually overnight...then same no audio issue.  I took it in to an Apple store and after 2 days they told me "no hardware issues".  No kidding, hardware problems are rarely solved by a restart!!!  Some software update is causing this...and Apple needs to fix it!!

  • Bluetooth stops working after OS X update on mac mini

Just installed the OS X 10.8.5 on my Mac Mini late 2012 model and after the restart the bluetooth was not available. I had to find a USB Keyboard and mouse to be able to log on to my computer and use it. Does anyone know how to repair this. This must be a fault from Apples update and Apple should find a solution or bring out a fix on this update. Any ideas

  • After atempting to update my Mac OS X 10.4.11 I have no brower at all , I am sending this message from anther computer

when updated I clicked replace the old version , the new version won't work , now I have neither

Hello guyalden, you can not directly... just download the dmg file and save it in a usb and transfer the file to your 10.4.11 pc. then Trash the current Firefox application(if you have it) to do a clean install and install the 3.6.28 version.

Try moving the existing backup file to a new location so iTunes has to create an entire new file.  That file is located here.  You may have to have show hidden file turned on. It location is given here:

  • Dreamweaver CS6 Mac takes forever to launch

It's currently taking about 3 full minutes to start up DW CS6 on Mac OS X 10.7.5. The only thing I have to compare it too is when I last used Dreamweaver several years ago when it would take the normal amount of time to start up. Any ideas?

I'd suggest restoring preferences Restore preferences | Dreamweaver CS6, Dreamweaver CC
See if you have Java SE6 installed  on your computer.
If that does not work, try a clean uninstall Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6 and reinstall the application.

We're facing the same trouble, we have a very similar stack trace and the error occurs only with Safari v 3.2.1; no firewalls and no domains, the issue is related with this snippet of java applet code compiled against jdk v 1.4.12:
