After pacman update I am unable to sync to repos [SOLVED]

With the current pacman I cant sync or install gpg master keys.
I recieve this error code:  " :: Synchronizing package databases...
error: failed retrieving file 'core.db' from mirrors.kernel.org : Connection time-out
error: failed retrieving file 'core.db' from archlinux.c3sl.ufpr.br : Connection time-out"
And for the keyservers:  "gpg: keyserver timed out
gpg: keyserver receive failed: keyserver error
==> Updating trust database...
gpg: no need for a trustdb check"
I can however install local packages with pacman.
Help.

I did install the new config
As well as this, have you run
pacman-key --init
as specified by the pacman output when it was updated? More information on that here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pacman-key
Can you try different mirrors and a different keyserver to see if that solves your problem? If not, when it happens again, can you test that your internet connection is ok, and verify that it's only pacman that is having connection issues?
Regarding your udevd errors, take a look at this forum thread and see if it's relevant to you.

  • KDEMod 3.5: problems after pacman update

I did a pacman update of KDEMod 3.5, and now, several things don't work anymore:
-there's no desktop background, it's just black
-there's no icons on the desktop: as mentioned above, it's just black (so I think the component that displays wallpaper and icons doesn't work)
-when just starting KDE, there's a "report crash" window (I don't know which the thing that crashes is, it just shows the crash window and I can click it away)
-when choosing "lock session" in the start menu, nothing happens. It used to show screensaver and require password to continue, now it does nothing at all
-maybe some other things I didn't discover yet are also broken...
How can I fix all this? I'd like my system to work properly, like it used to. KDEMod 3.5 appears to have some difficulties after pacman updates these days...
    Thanks.

Hmm, I just realized that the wallpaper is a jpeg, and it could be related to the fix I did in my previous post: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=78076
Are they going to fix those jpeg issues soon? I think this is something vital.
    EDIT: FYI: this fixed it: tar -C / -zxvf /var/cache/pacman/pkg/libjpeg-6b-6-i686.pkg.tar.gz usr/lib/libjpeg.so.62 usr/lib/libjpeg.so.62.0.0

  • After 4.2.1 update I am unable to sync bookmarks via Mobile Me

After the update all my bookmarks had vanished, though they should be synced via Mobile Me. I tired a Restore, and a then restored from a backup, but I still can't sync any bookmarks to the iphone.
    Anyone else experiencing this?

I spoke (wrote) too soon. Though the calendar is showing all the events, an event I just added on the iphone has not shown up on other devices. I created an event on my Ipad too, which also didn't show up on other devices.
I logged in to Mobile Me, which reports all services running OK, but something seems to be wrong

  • [SOLVED - sort of] display resolution woes after pacman update

When doing a recent pacman -Syu, I was asked if I wanted to change from mga-dri to libgl video. I (foolishly) chose the default (Y) and was informed mga-dri had been removed. After the rest of the update, I was unable to start X. Did some reading, configuring, and cussing - all to no avail.
Well, actually the cussing felt good, but the neighbors were less than pleased...
"heftig" and "falconindy" in #archlinux were kind enough to enlighten me that support for mga-dri had been dropped, and that I was probably stuck with vesa for my older video card and monitor: Matrox G400/500 and Dell M781p, respectively.
After a fashion, I was able to configure up an xorg.conf to restore X, however all I seem to be able to muster up is 800x600 resolution, which sucks, as both the card and monitor support 1024x768 and ran that with the old mga-dri.
Is it possible to return to the old mga-dri set up? If so, how?
If not, is it possible to get 1024x768 video with the present vesa driver?
FYI, I do no gaming or fancy-schmancy video stuff, though would like to be able to watch videos with either mplayer or smplayer.

I found the previous version of xf86-video-mga on http://schlunix.org/archlinux/, though I'm more than a bit apprehensive to just blindly retrograde to the previous version. Reason being, a number of X related items were updated, too, with the March 13th debacle. To wit:

Should I just "shotgun" this retrograde by rolling back all of those or just the mga driver?
P.S. I'm cursing my promiscuous "pacman -Sc" ritual...

  • [SOLVED] RT2870 drops connection after pacman update

Since last pacman upgrade my USB wireless works for just a few seconds while used; while watching transfer speed I see at first full speed and then going slower and slower and in a few secs totally stopped, without being disconnected. I have to reboot to get it working again (worked sometimes by ip link set wlan 0 down & up)
No difference using Wicd or networkmanager.
I have never had any issues earlier even since Kernel 3.0.

certainly didn't expect this... turned off power saving
    iwconfig wlan0 power off
and all is well again. Surely doesn't explain why it started after kernel update. But it works...

    Hi,

How can I fix this? I already tried installen cloog with pacman but that doesn't help.

    I'm using multilib.
    @Allan
more fully than pacman -Syu? Or is my mirror not up to date?

  • [SOLVED] Compiz crashes Gnome after pacman update

Hardware: Nvidia NVS 3100M, latest drivers 260.19.36
    Software: latest pacman -Suy
On startup, right after the login, X (or Gnome?) crashes and I see the login screen again.
After I disable compiz, I am able to use Gnome desktop.
When I start compiz via fusion-icon, it crashes everything again.
    Has anyone seen this?
    Any clues?
    ==== Update =====
I solved this by re-installing the same nvidia driver I had. During install it detected that the original installation "has been altered".

That's a scary thought: what if I'm the only one with this problem... :-)
Let me answer your questions guys (and thank you for replying).
First of all, I don't have anything monitor-related in my xorg.conf.d directory. Here is what I have there:
    t510 ~: ll /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/
    total 20K
    -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1.1K Aug 24 06:45 10-evdev.conf
    -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 377 Jun 21 2010 10-quirks.conf
    -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 443 Nov 13 10:36 10-synaptics.conf
    -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 267 Nov 19 03:48 10-synaptics.conf.pacnew
    -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 107 Sep 2 19:39 20-nouveau.conf
Second, I do pacman updates maybe once a month. So I had 600+ MB of downloads and something like a hundred packages, including xorg itself. However, I do know that the kernel and nvidia's proprietary driver are both latest and haven't changed.
If I delete xorg.conf, arch will try to look for noveau open-source driver and will fail because I do not have it installed: it doesn't manage power well to be used on a laptop.
Looking into Xorg.log I see this:
[ 102.032] (EE) NVIDIA(0): Failed to initialize the GLX module; please check in your X
[ 102.032] (EE) NVIDIA(0): log file that the GLX module has been loaded in your X
[ 102.032] (EE) NVIDIA(0): server, and that the module is the NVIDIA GLX module. If
[ 102.032] (EE) NVIDIA(0): you continue to encounter problems, Please try
[ 102.032] (EE) NVIDIA(0): reinstalling the NVIDIA driver.
    [ 102.582] (II) NVIDIA(0): NVIDIA GPU NVS 3100M (GT218) at PCI:1:0:0 (GPU-0)
I will try to reinstall the same nvidia driver I have to see what happens.

  • Problem with -hg PKGBUILD after pacman update

After I updated to pacman 4.1.0, my PKGBUILD for sunflower-hg stopped working for me.

Sorry for hijacking your post -
I have had an issue with my Lumia 820 too after installing the Amber update.
The phone once updated displayed " restarting " and from that point on has failed to go beyond the screen that displays the Nokia logo.
Spoken to Customer care guys and tried hard resetting the device but to no avail.
Unfortunately for me i haven't made a back up of the data i have on the phone and I have extremely important business contacts and other relevant info that I can't afford to lose, hope I am provided with a solution.

    Remove your ill-advised /etc/asound.conf - it's bypassing dmix.

  • After iOS update, my iTunes no longer sync 'ERROR MESSAGE'

After the new iOS update on my phone, my iTunes on my MAC will not sync. The error message I receive says I need to update iTunes, but it's already updated to the last version and there are no updates available when I go thru the iTunes menu.  HELP!

Apple fans. Don't fret. I struggled with this since Saturday when I got my new phone. im pretty tech savvy with a background in computers and I'm a mechanic by trade so i generally know how things work and figure out anything. After trying everything you all have probaby tried as well I did some comparisons to my wife's phone. I paid all three of our cars to her phone easily. One is a Honda hand free link, the other a Hyundai sonata system and the last a pioneer aftermarket Bluetooth with streaming, avrcp etc. after her iPhone 6 128gb connected and worked flawlessly, I narrowed the problem down to my phone specifically. It's not the phone, it's not the ios8, it's not your car. It's your settings. All I did was reset network settings and bam. Problem fixed. You see I messeed with a bunch of stuff in the beginning trying to avoI'd data overage and must have turned something off by mistake. Another theroy I have is my iPhone 5 setting were copied over in the process of migration and they were maybe incompatible with the iPhone 6 itself. Either way post back and let me know if this helps

  • [SOLVED] After pacman update, system no longer boots

Updated pacman packages, and half-way through the upgrade proces fails (it mentions not being able to find package-control).  Upon investigating, I notice no programs are working.  I ls /usr/bin and it is empty!  In a panic, I restart the machine, and it no longer boots up.
My boot is on sda3 and /root is sda5.
When bash starts up, it loads the kernel fine, and then after a second it panics and exclaims: "No init found. Try passing init=bootarg".
I load up my trusty Arch livecd and fsck the partitions.  Fsck claims both partitions are clean.  I am able to mount them and examine the file structure: all files look like they are there.  I then try to chroot the mounted partition (sda5, my /root), and get the error that "/bin/bash" is not found, even though it is there in the correct directory.  Not sure what to do now.
My grub entry, which has always worked fine prior to this:
    legacy_kernel '/linux344-ck' 'acpi_osi=Linux' 'root=/dev/sda5' 'rootfstype=ext4' 'init=/sbin/init' 'pcie_aspm=force' 'acpi_backlight=vendor' 'i915.i915_enable_rc6=1' 'i915.i915_enable_fbc=1' 'i915.lvds_downclock=1' 'ipv6.disable=1' 'i915.semaphores=1' 'modprobe.blacklist=bluetooth,uvcvideo' 'ro'
    legacy_initrd '/initramfs-linux-fallback.img' '/initramfs-linux-fallback.img'
UPDATE: solved issue.  I didn't read the news.  Upgrading via pacman broke my system because of this.  Now I know!  System is running smooth again.

Huh. I guess the problem was a couple of stale and crusty {,f}getty .service files, and an obsolete slim.service file I created a while back.
Removing them fixed my problem, although tty1 still shows boot messages (not a problem, and may not even be "new" behaviour)
    Cheers Tomegun.

  • After iOS6 update, iPhone 4 doesn't sync calendar with iTunes

    Hello,
I have an iPhone 4. After update to iOS6 the sync of my calendar has a strange behavior! It doesn't sync anymore. When I enter a calendar entry on iPhone, it's not synchronized with the macbook Calendar.
I changed calendar dates on my macbook - it won't appear on my iPhone4.
I badly missed some dates, till I found that the Calendar doesn't sync.
I also set in iTunes the marked, that on next sync the calendar should be replaced - but even then the new entries doesn't appear. Completely strange is, that if I delete the calendar on my iPhone and resync by iTunes, I get the calendar back, but the new or changes entries don't appear.
What can I do, instead of waiting to get my new iPhone5?

Now I have my new iPhone5...
And what should I tell you?dar. Neither from iPhone
There is still no sync of the calender from iPhone to MacBookPro and no sync of calendar entries from the MacBookPro to iPhone.
I am helpless. I tried to replace the calendar - it syncs, but the edited entries do not appear - they were sync with the old entries. Where the **** do they come from?
Normal Sync, nothing happens...what's a smartphone
