After phone upgrade-purchased ring tones are missing

I just upgraded my phone from an LG ENV3 to a Motorola Droid3.  I love my new phone but the ring tones I purchased and used on my old phone didn't get transferred to my new one.  How do I get them back?

Thanks, Ann154 and SuzyQ, for your contributions.
Hello ralphluben,
I’m glad to hear you upgraded to one of our fabulous Smartphones.  As SuzyQ mentioned, ringtones that were previously purchased will not automatically transfer over when you upgrade your device.  However, these ringtones are available for repurchase through My Media Retrieval if you login to My Verizon. Have a wonderful night!

I just upgraded my iphone 4 to ios5 and now my purchased ring tones are gone.  I followed another comment and can also say that they do not show up under "purchased" in my "app store."

    @lovehelmet good joke!
Today I visit an A1 Telekom store and I ask about this problem. He say "the programmer are working to that and today or tomorrow you will be able to set any APN or other settings".

When I restore my iphone, all my music and ring tone are missing. Does Backing up by iphone backup my music and ring tone?

It doesn't matter what it is in your backup that's causing the problem because you can not selectively restore things from your backup. It's all or nothing.
Set you phone up as a new device and start over.

  • HT201272 My purchased ring tones are not under my previously purchased items, why not?

I did not transfer my purchases prior to syncing my iphone and have lost my ringtones.  Is there anyway I can get them back from the iturnes store?

To all those unlucky people who have lost there personal tones on their iphones.  I have solved the problem. In itunes rename your tones and and sync again.  All the allocations to specific tones are even automatically fixed on the iphone.
Hope this works for everybody.  (my tones where tones that I had created on my old nokia and converted to work on my iphone.)

  • Missing purchased ring tones, after upgrade

Any advice on how to reinstate purchased ring tones on my Iphone 3gs?   The purchases show in Itunes but, if I tick the ring tones sync box, there is a dialogue box warning that all music etc on the Iphone will be lost.  I don't want to do that!
Historically, ring tones purchased on the PC have never transposed to the phone and I have directly downloaded ring tones via the Iphone.
    Thanks

Apps and other media can be downloaded again for free, see this article: Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Did you make sure that no restrictions are set on your phone to install apps? Check Settings/General/Restrictions --> App Installation.

  • How do i purchase ring tones or ringback tones for my phone

how do I purchase ring tones and ring back tones for my phone
how do I designate specific tones for specific people

You use a free app like Zedge for the ringtones or use an app like Ringtone Maker, both in Google Play Store and free or similar to snip the desired parts from songs on your phone from your own collection.  To assign to a contact, go to the address book and tap the contact, tap EDIT, and scroll down to assign a ringtone.  As far as ringbacks go....you have to buy those from Verizon either through the My Verizon app or from your My Verizon account page online.  Notice:  most people hate to hear other people's ringback tones plus, the volume is always too loud and the quality is horrible.

Did you copy your purchases over to your computer's iTunes via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases before updating the iOS ? If you did then it should be in the Tones part of your library so that you can sync it back to your phone.

  • Some of my purchased apps icons are missing. how do i get them back on my ipad?

On my ipad, some of my purchased apps icons are missing. The app store indicates that the apps were purchased so i cannot install them again.  How do I get the icons back?

    - Are the apps missing or are the icons white?
    - If missing have yu tried using the Spotlight search and trying to find them?
    - Have you tried downloading them on your iPad and then syncing?
    - Have you tried deleting them on the computer and then syncing?  That might also delete them from the iPad so you can redownal them
    - Have you tried reetting the iPad?
Reset iPad:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • Previously purchased ring tones missing on iPhone 6?

I've tried to locate solutions to this via Apple Support communities & Google search, but can't seem to find a solution to this problem:
I previously purchased & had several ring tones on my iPhone 4S, & these did not appear on my iPhone after transferring all data/files from the 4S. These ring tones appear in my iTunes account, but even after "copying" these files onto my iPhone 6 (within iTunes), the ring tones still don't appear on the iPhone 6.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    L. Bonnet

I should mention that the tones are actually loaded on my phone.... they are both surrounded by thick lines. I can select them but they will not work when I get a text.

  • After updating to ios5 my previously purchased ring tones don't work.

After updating to ios 5 my ring tones show only the default ones on my phone.
In Itunes it shows up, I have synced a number of times but the ring tone never shows up on the phone.

I couldn't get it to start at first. Then I found a forum that hade other issues with plugin and firefox 4 where the solution was to start firefox 4 in 32 bit mode and not in 64bit mode. After that it works nice for me.
It might also be useful to change the setting for the time that scripts are allowed to run.
dom.max_script_run_time should be set to higher number than 80 according to the support.
    Good luck!

  • I just got my iphone 6 today; upgrading from 5s - none of my personalized ring tones are available to assign to contacts as they were before

I upgraded to an iphone 6 today. I had all my contacts attached to a particular ring tone on my 5s; they are all gone. How do I find the ringtones I created from real music over the past few years and re-load and assign them to my contacts?

Unfortunately you have to convert Mp3 to M4r to work now.  Spent 2 hours to figure this out.
    See below !!!
Apple® iTunes® can also be used to convert an MP3 to M4R but the process is a little involved and the directions might be slightly different depending on the version. In general, the imported MP3 must be first converted to the AAC format (which is essentially the same as M4P), then manually renamed from an MP4 to an M4R file.
To use iTunes® to convert an MP3 files to M4R, add the MP3 file to your iTunes® Library.  Right-click on the file once more, and choose "Create ACC version" from the popup menu. (This will only appear if you select under iTunes Preferences > General > Import Settings > Import Using AAC Encoder
    on a MAC:
Now navigate to the folder where iTunes® has saved this file (or Right Click and Show in Finder ).  It should have created 3-4 different versions there.. Mp3, m4a and M4r.  Select the M4r version and drag over to TONES in iTunes...now sync your phone with iTunes
    On a PC
Now navigate to the folder where iTunes® has saved this file (or Right Click and Show in Finder ).  Use the computer’s Search feature to find the file name, or look in the default Music folder, then inside the iTunes® folder. Scroll down until you find the saved file, which will be an M4A file.
Drag the file to the Desktop (a copy will be generated), then go into iTunes® and delete the original file. The Desktop copy will remain.
Return to the Desktop and rename the ringtone file with an M4R extension. If you cannot see file extensions, go to Folder Options (via Control Panel) and under the View tab, uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types" and try again. Once the file has been successfully renamed, click on it and iTunes® will import it into the Ringtones folder. Synch your iPhone® to upload the ringer.

  • I purchased Ring Tones - they do not show up on my phone

Turns out all Ernestine Anderson songs are ring tonable. So I bought one, then a ring tone for 1.98...A bell folder appeared, a "ringtone" tab appeared WITH the ring tone I created. I hit apply so I can sync the ringtone into the iPhone, the iPhone says "sync in Progress" then the sync stops with no error messages. I look at my ringtone list in my iPhone....and its not there. The same goofy ring tones it came with.
I have the current iPhone version - 1.0.2
I have the current iTunes version - 7.4.1.2
I am however losing faith in apple products and this is my first apple product.
What is wrong? - I had to authorize it - problem solved (dunno why I had to in the first place but..)

iTunes for some reason un-authorized it so I had to authorize it and it worked.
