After podcasts end playback why does iPod go to menu?

This is my second ipod. I still have my old G1. On the G5 after a podcast is done playing instead of going on to the next podcast my iPod jumps back to the menu. Very annoying on long car rides when listening to short podcasts.
I did some experimenting with smart folders but even then....
Any ideas?
On the G1 iPod it just keeps on playing from one podcast to the next.

Listening to podcasts through the Podcast menu will do this. However, if you set up a playlist, it will go right to the next podcast. I have several different smart playlists set up in my iTunes and they work great on my iPod. I even have them set up so that the playlist includes only those with playcount=0. That way, once I've listened to it, it bumps it off of my playlist. That way, if I pause and do something else, I can go right back to that playlist and start where i left off.

When I am in "COLLECTIONS AND BOOKMARKS" view, I changed the name of the folder that is listed under "bookmarks" (that is designed to be a drop-down menu on the Bookmark Bar), I changed the name to "TV 1" from "TV Shows". I also added another folder under the Bookmarks called "TV 2" and I dragged and dropped two bookmarks from the "Bookmarks Menu" listing to the "TV 2" folder, and yet Safari would not update in real-time the Bookmark Bar to recognize that I created a "TV 2" folder/drop-down menu, nor did it update the contents of "TV Shows" to become "TV 1".
The only way I was able to update the drop-down menu bookmark folders on the Bookmark Bar was to drag-and-drop them one at a time from the "COLLECTIONS and BOOKMARKS" view.
Is it just me or is this a ******** way of updating bookmarks?
I think it is perfectly fine as being ONE WAY of updating bookmarks, but there really should be "real-time" updating of bookmarks. That is to say, I should be able to choose "bookmark this page" and add it to the folder named "TV Shows" and automatically see Safari update it without having to make two steps: 1) choosing the bookmark, and 2) going into the list of bookmarks to manually drag and drop the bookmark into the Bookmark Bar that contains the folder/drop-down menu.

why do you say it's not normal.
it always switches itself on after i update. it just did again, this time for 7.1.2.. i t also will switch on after a restore.
i never use bluetooth and make sure it's not on for any other reason.
it's been noticed by others too.

Why is ipod touch not appearing in itunes under devices after installing Snow Leopard? The ipod touch charges when plugged into the usb port but does not show on itunes and does not sync.

Why does iPod on iPhone4 cut off the beginning of audio files?

First time user of Apple and iTunes and iPhone4. I transfer my audio files onto my iPhone, play them in iPod and it cuts off the first 10 or more seconds or so. The files play perfectly well in every other device and player. Why does this happen in iTunes/iPhone/iPod? How to fix this?

Unless you are in a very hot place it usually means a hardware problem
Try the following to rule out a software problem.:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

After latest FP update, why does my website only work in Firefox.

I spent ages the other night trying to fix my website, as it suddenly stopped working in IE9. Tried all sorts of FP installs with no avail. Eventually went back to IE8, think 9 was the problem, and still my site won't work. Out of 4 browsers, IE8 (or 9), Opera, Safari and FF, only FF displays my site. If I understand correctly, FF doesn't use the same plugin as the rest. My question is, why does it only work in one browser, and not the others.
If I use my HTC Desire, the site works fine too.
Just to be clear though, this isn't just on one PC, it is on three. I have one running Win7 64-Bit, one running XP Pro, and one running Vista Business. None of them will display the site with IE8. Oh, and my WIn7 machine dual boots with XP Home, and that doesn't work either.
Even my Vista Business machine, which actually hosts the site, won't display it properly.
The site was created using SWF files built in Flash CS3, if that's relevant. One AS2 file, and 2 AS3 files on a page (usually)

Sorry for the unfriendly address, I don't trust forums and website addresses.

It's the forums that make the image tiny, if you do a right-click > copy shortcut, you can then paste it into a new tab, which will let you see the full size image. It's a 3360x1050 image, maybe a bit big for the forums.
Basically though, the left image is IE, and that shows an error box. The centre image is Opera, and that shows an empty screen. The right image is FF, and that is how it should look.
If it's a machine specific error, then I can't work out why it is on several machines in my house... very odd.

Why does DW disable insert menu items?

This must be a configuration option someplace, but in general, why would DW disable Insert menu items?
I am in .cfm file, in clearly an unlocked area of a page where I should be allowed to insert hyper links, email links, horizontal rules, images, tables. But on the Insert menu, each of those items is disabled (and others, but you get the point). Since the insert menu items are disabled, the keystroke shortcuts for those actions don't function.
I can manually type in these tags, and I can insert them from the Insert window.
I start a brand new .cfm page, and the insert menu is fine.
It appears DW is examining the code and deciding [INCORRECTLY] what is appropriate to insert via the menu.

Why does ipod delete notes?

i have an ipod touch 5th gen and sometimes it deletes notes that i have on the "notes" app. ill type out my note, usually quotes from books im reading or notes/reminders from class, and then ill need to view them later in the day or even days/weeks after and the note is goooone.
any suggestions as to why this happens?
does this happen to anyone else?

Is the option to sync notes selected in the info pane in itunes with your ipod connected?
Do you delete the notes on your ipod after syncing? If yes, your notes on your mac will be modified as well as soon as you sync the next time.
Contacts, calendars, notes, and webpage bookmarks are synced with applications on your computer, as described in the following section. Contacts and calendars are synced both ways between your computer and iPod touch. New entries or changes you make on iPod touch are synced to your computer, and vice versa. Notes and webpage bookmarks are also synced both ways.

Podcast & Audiobook Playback Options on iPod Classic?

I recently got a new iPod Classic (7th Gen) as an anniversary gift, but I've been having trouble with how it handles Podcasts & Audiobooks - the iPod I used to have was a couple of generations older (I think 5th Gen?). Basically the two biggest issues I have are:
1. Podcasts - the older iPod used to play just a single episode, and then exit back to the main menu once the episode was over (unless I queued several episodes together in a playlist). The new iPods treat podcasts like an album, and continue playing the next track. This wouldn't be an issue, except that podcasts are sorted in newest -> oldest order, such that it will play Episode 13, then move on to the next track which is Episode 12, and I have to stop it, go back to the menu, and select Episode 14. Is there any way to get the order to sort ascending (changing it in iTunes didn't appear to affect the order on the iPod at all)? Or at least an option to play only one episode at a time and not automatically cycle through them?
2. Audiobooks - I classified my audiobooks into various genres such as "Classics", "Fantasy", "SciFi", etc. in iTunes, and on the old iPod, these genres would show up under Music->Genres in the iPod menu (alongside Rock, Pop, etc.). This appears to no longer be the case. Similarly, audiobook authors no longer appear in the list of Artists and audiobook titles no longer show under Albums. It appears the only way to access audiobooks now is through the
Music->Audiobooks menu? And unfortunately it appears as though the Audiobooks menu only lists individual track names, and not Artist or Album? To make matters worse, the track names are being sorted alphabetically and ignoring the Disc # & Track # metadata stored in iTunes. Is there any way to fix any of this?
Any help would be appreciated! I've poked around in the settings both on the iPod itself and in iTunes with the iPod connected, but I haven't found a way to correct any of these issues yet.

I've found a workaround for this problem: the Join Together v5.1 iTunes script from Doug's AppleScripts combine the segments into two large AAC files.
Now it's OK if the iPod stops playing segments after they finish because they're hours long instead of minutes.

Why does iPod play without prompting on iPhone?

This happened to my previous iPhone (3G) and now to my new one (version 4.2.1 14GB). Also happens to my friend's older iPhone (3G).
Here is what happens: iPhone is sitting on center console - not connected to bluetooth (n/a in my truck). I faintly hear music playing, look down and the phone is playing music via iPod. This happens inconsistently, but has happened a number of times. I was shocked to see new iPhone do this too! All iPod settings are set to "off".
Anyone know why this happens?

My sister's does the same thing and none of the usual steps stops it. It does not do it enough to bother her, so she just quits the iPod app or if she hears it presses play, she did not think it serious enough to replace her phone.

If yours is in warranty, and this is causing battery problems for you, I would make a Genius Bar appointment at your nearest Apple Store.

Ipod screen flickers, but music still plays. Then it will shuy down. I ahve restored it , but still does this. My 9 year old lives on this ipod, he is going through withdrawal now! Possibly new battery? Thanks

Might as well be a hardware defect, especially if you can still listen to music after the screen shuts down.
To make sure it is not the software, set it up as new device, without using the latest backup afterwards.

Small update, yes I realise I can still play an unchecked song in iTunes (stupid me).
And this is weird - Looking at iPod in iTunes, I can see all these episodes of an unchecked Podcast, and the iPod claims 5.25gb free. I recheck the podcast, and it recopies the exact same files, but now I have 4.8gb free.

Sounds like hardware failure, called boot loop. Call Apple and or go on apple.com and make Genius Bar appointment to have your iphone reviewed by a Tech. Provided you iphone shows no physical or liquid damage they will take care of you, or if you have Apple Care Plus
