After recent upgrade, Firefox won't start. Just flickers once when I click on a link or on its icon.
My version is 32. "Best Solution" says click the upgrade button to get v34. But I can't do that if FF won't open.
I have Mac OS 10.9.5
You can check if you can start Firefox in <u>Safe Mode</u> by holding down the Options key.
Start Firefox in <u>Safe Mode</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
*Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

Since a recent upgrade of Firefox links in several websites no longer work. They used to be fine and I loved Firefox. The problems do not exist with other browsers e.g. Internet Explorer, Google Chrome. More specifically, on talktalk.co.uk the links to news items do not work, nor do those to "My Account." On Barclays.co.uk the link to print my statement doesn't work - similarly on MBNA.com
There are several suggested solutions around the internet but all are complex, none so far have worked and I don't see why I should need to carry out the suggested tweaks. Firefox used to be great - now it isn't. The problem seems to be with the upgrade. Please help me to get my Firefox to where it should be.Thank you but please don't waste any more time on this. I have done as I said I would - removed and re- installed Firefox, cleared all cookies and caches (CCleaner) - still doesn't work. As I said at the start, the problem is not confined to Talktalk - it applies to several other sites and links. The problem does not occur with Internet Explorer nor with Google Chrome so I am now using those.

I can only create tabs by clicking on a link in an email or a program or a link in the window I am viewing. It will NOT create a new tab when I click on the tab to create a new tab, nor will it create a new tab when I right click on the tab & click on create a new tab. I'm used to using tabbed browsing all the time & it's driving me nuts. HELP!
I have not downloaded any new updates on any software or downloaded any new software in the hours before this started happening.
Just to clarify about my original question. I meant to say that firefox will create a new window when I right click & click on create a new window but will not create a new tab when I click on create a new tab. I think what I wrote may have been somewhat confusing.Do you have that problem when running in the Firefox SafeMode? <br />

I am currently using Internet Explorer Version 8.0.6001.18702IC on my PC desktop, and want to switch to Firefox. I have clicked the download link in several places with no result at all
Don't try to run the Firefox installer directly, but save the file to the desktop and start the installation with a double-click.<br />
You may need to disable your anti-virus software temporarily if you still have problems.

I have a new laptop, windows 8. I have Avira, popup blockers. This is what happens:
I open Firefox. It goes directly to google.com, my home page. I click on say my schools website and I go to put the cursor on the login and it opens up this random webpage in a new tab. It does this every time I start up firefox. I have the default popup blocker on, my popup blocker and it still happens. It is quite annoying. Instead of the pointer finger it is the arrow and doesn't do what I'm trying to do.Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
* Microsoft Safety Scanner
* MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
* TDSSKiller - AntiRootkit Utility
Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.
Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

When I click on a link in an emial, Firefox won't open up
I downloaded the new version of Firefox yesterday. Firefox is my default browser. Now when I click on a link in an email, Firefox will show up at the top of the screen "Firefox-File-Edit-View-etc" but it would open the Firefox page.
Start Firefox in <u>Safe Mode</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Firefox won't start after 18.0.1 upgrade
I have upgraded to the latest version and then two days later, The mozilla Crash reporter opens and it won't start. Nothing happens when I press details.
I can't run it safe mode. The same thing happens.
I uninstalled and re-installed and same thing.
I then uninstalled rebooted and re-installed V16. That was then ok for a few days then same thing happened.
So I unintstalled rebooted and on went V15 which worked for about 8 hours. However I can't get any version to work now. The Crash Reporter pops up whatever version I have.We're sorry to hear that your Firefox seems to be crashing when you open it. Please perform the following steps to give us a crash report ID that helps us find out more about the cause of the crash.
#Press the following shortcut to get a Run window: [Windows] + [R]. This should bring up a window that contains a text field.
#In that text field, enter %APPDATA% and press Enter. An explorer window should open.
#From that explorer window, double-click on the Mozilla folder, then double-click on Firefox and then on Crash reports. Double-click on submitted.
#Now, you should see a list of files that contain reports. Go to View > Arrange Icons by > Modified to get the most recent files at the top of the window.
#Open the most recent 5 files with a text editor and copy the IDs.
#Paste each ID into the reply window on the forums.
Thanks in advance!

Firefox won't start after windows update

I do not see much about coloum 14, but I am guessing this file is stored somewhere and its corrupt. Update.xul suggests that it is the update file. Do you still have this in your downloads folder? There are two places for update and for a clean reinstall:
in a private window will give you a new install or you can choose from here:
This is what the file should look like; If you can copy and paste that file from a working browser we can see the issue, but it will just look the same as the error.
if you can replace the contents of the file locally with what it should look like it will fix the error, but who knows if there are other errors. May be best to delete the updater and save all the profile folder contents. -
win7 Pro. has been running firefox ok. but lately with 25 and now 26, the firefox won't start. I can see firefox is running in task manager. but it just won't pop up.
if I download it again and install it, it will run, but every time I reboot the system, it just won't run again.
try: reset, safe mode, uninstall & reinstall, new/clean profile, none of those work.There may be a corrupted file on Firefox.<br>
Please attempt to perform a clean reinstall. (More Details) This is different than a regular uninstall.
If a clean reinstall does not fix the issue, please try starting your operating system in safe mode.<br>
To do so, please do the following:
#Ensure that your computer is shut down completely
#Press the power button
#Tap the <code>F8</code> key repeatedly before the Windows logo and startup screen is displayed
#Select Safe Mode With Networking for the advanced startup options list
Please report back with the results of both solutions. -
I just upgraded to Firefox 3.6.13 this morning and now, when I click on a link in an email or webpage, it won't open Firefox. How can I get this option restored in Firefox so I don't have to copy and paste the link?

Firefox won't start after downloading update. I've reinstalled Firefox, still won't start. Help says check virtualization settings. What and where are virtualization settings? I have Windows XP.

Flash Plug in is crashing after recent upgrade. I tried uninstalling, and reinstalling, still crashing. Firefox and Plug-in are current. What else can I do?
What I suggest you do here is to use Adobe's uninstaller tool to uninstall Flash first of all: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
Then reboot, go to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ and reinstall it.
I notice too that you have an outdated version of Shockwave For Director. You can update that via http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/ -
Firefox won't start after update - nothing in support pages helps
windows 7 - firefox won't start after update - no support pages are relevant
-> Firefox will not start
Check and tell if its working.
