After recording an old audio tape, how do I insert track (song) numbers?

Hi Wunghnu,
Welcome to the Support Communities!
The article below will show you how to send a song from Garageband to iTunes.  You can enter song information in the Share dialog box.
GarageBand '11: Send a song to iTunes
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH1794
Also from within iTunes, you can edit song information as well.  Here's how:
Playing and managing content in iTunes

Editing Info
Each audio or video file in iTunes has several settings and tags that can be easily modified. These options can be accessed by selecting any file in the iTunes browser windows and selecting "Get Info" from the File menu. You can add song lyrics, artwork and set special playback options. The "Info" tab lets you edit information about the file including artist and album info.

  • Recording and convering audio tapes - How & which app?

I have a USB audio capture device buoght tome time ago but it doesn't register on my Macbook Air. What kind of device and programme/ap should I use to audio-copy and preserve as a file on my MacBook the contents of a small number of precious old-fashioned tapes?

    Hi,
Some more info on what you have would be good, what type / make and model of tape player and USB audio capture device have you got?
and when you say your USB audio capture device "doesn't register on my Macbook Air" do you mean it doesn't register in sound settings (system preferences>sound)
    Personally
I use a different cable to connect to my computer (link to cable here) just depends what the output options of your player...
The program I use for recording is Audacity (download link here) it's an ok free open source program.

  • Clean up 20 year old Audio tapes

I have some 27 year old audio tapes recordings that I would like to put onto to CD and give them as a fathers day gift. I would love any recommendations on how to put them on my computer, and then how to clean up the quality- you can here the voice, but through the years it seems to have been muffled it up some. Any helped would be appreciated, they are family heirlooms that would be a special treat for my father. PLEASE HELP

For recording see if you can find a tape player that has a headphone out, like a walkman or a system, then plug a male to male 1/8 from the device into the mic input on your mac. Then if you don't know the recording process, go to preferences, audio midi, make sure audio input is built in line input, and the output is normal. then just press record on garage band and play it on the device. as for it being muffled, try blowing gently on the tape to see if it has accumulated anything weird over the years, but if you can't, garage band has a couple of effects that might help. So you have your real instrument track, open the info panel on the left, click on "podcasting" there's a bunch of presets that might clear the voice up a little. if that doesn't work or isn't enough, click the triangle next to details, then click the little pen icon for the equalizer, then you can cut the low a little, cut the mid and put the mid frequency fairly low, and you can also boost the high, and that will make it a little clearer.
    Hope that helps

You'd need to tell us what kind of film and cameras you have. I think you'll need to buy some equipment to do that.
An alternative is to send your film to a place like Integrated Imaging and they could transfer it to DVD or another suitable format for iMovie.

  • How can i insert a song in a keynote presentation?

How can i insert a song in a keynote presentation?
    Thanks for tour help.

Hmmm... I made the opening in motion, and have set it as a opening bumer. So what I typically do is drag it in to the project time line from the right side of the screen (where my bumbers are) and then add the audio (from itunes) on top of it. So that audio is being duplicated on every single event. This was the only way I knew to do it so I could easily change the date without having to always set the right keyframes. (If there is an easier way, please let me know.)
For the ending bumber I just use a small video clip I made and insert it in each timeline. So I'm assuming that is also being duplicated every single time.

  • How do u insert track no?

is there anyway to insert track numbers? if i have a long audio file and i want to add track numbers while i am burning an audio file, is there a way to so it? if so how? this is one way of by passing the itunes gap problem.

    sophist,
You would have to split the track into separate iTunes entries and then burn the CD using those split entries.
It's a little tedious, but you can do it in iTunes...
Determine the Start time for each track in the original long file. Now repeat for each track you want to make:
    * Get Info the original long track
    * set the start time for a track, and the stop time to just before the next track
    * Convert the the file (ctrl-click, Convert Selection to ...) -- this makes a new file with just the selected audio segment, the original long file is left untouched)
    * set the track number in the get info for the new track
The convert command uses the audio settings from Preferences -> Advanced -> Importing area

  • Where can I see details of the different "event" files created after transferring my old camcorder tapes to i-movie?

Yesterday I transferred a couple of camcorder mini dv tapes to i-movie. For each tape transferred a new "event" file was created. Where on the system can I see details of these files (format, size of file etc) . Many thanks. Angus

    .. what for?
iMovie has a very ... elaborated .. iffy internal file management; e.g. changing file's names or locations OUTSIDE Imovie/in Finder instantly corrupts file management, events get lost, projects kaputt.
All iM related files are stored upon your main drive, 'Movies'/'iMovie Projects' and /'iMovie Events' ...

  • My old laptop died, how do I get my songs back?

    Hey!
So recently my laptop died and it's going to cost $250 to fix it and I don't wanna be paying that much if I just want to get my iTunes library back. I only have some of my songs on my iPhone and I need to get my songs back since I have over 3,000 on the laptop.
You may say to download all your purchases, but I've put CDS on and I don't have them all, so how do I do this?

Depending on the nature of the failure of your old computer you (or a helpful friend) may be able to extract the hard drive from it, put it in an external drive bay and recover your iTunes library and other personal data from it.
Otherwise see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

  • I have question about take folders.  After recording multiple takes on a project of say 16 tracks. Is there a way to switch between takes globally?  Instead of one at a time which is tedious.  I am talking about a situation where all tracks are being

Oops , my body got put into the title sorry.   Anyway so when doing live recording and multiple takes of all tracks is there a way to switch between takes globally instead of switching them one by one?

You used the data.  Verizon can not see what it was sued for.  However your phone can see whats apps used the data.  go to settings-data usage- there will be a place that says data usage cycle.  line the dates up with your cycle.  then there will be a bar graph below that   extend bother white bars one all the way to the left and one all the way to the right.  after those are extended below that will be a list of apps,  there should be one that used over 2 gb and that will show you what app used that data in her purse

  • Simple audio question - how to mute a track?

Have a timeline with one video and two audio tracks - both tracks are stereo.
I need to mute one of the audio tracks to make edits to the other.
How can I mute one of the audio tracks?

Awesome - that's what I was looking for! Ton of clips so hitting shift-Z and then selecting the entire length of the track seems to work.
Where is that "V" feature in the menus?

  • How can I insert a song into lots of different projects without it duplicating so many time?

I have a website where I upload a daily one minute video, and I use the same song for the opening, and the same song for the closing. I have been trying to figure out why so much space is being used. One issue is that the songs I have been using for the opening and closoing are being uploaded over and over and over again.
What is the best way to do this so that the media isn't being duplicated over and over again? The files live in itunes, so is there any way to simply reference the file from the music folder instead of having to copy the media over and over again?
    Thanks.

  • Recording from audio tape, using SPDIF

I recorded and saved as mp3, some music from an old audio tape and selected SPDIF-IN as the recording medium. The issue is when I tested the playback it sounded ok on my PC. Now after saving the file with a different name etc., the file has no sound when played in Media Player 0 or WinAmp 5. The file is over 30 MB in size so I know it is not an empty file.

Tape is analog source, but SPDIF is digital. You should use Line-In.

  • Audio tapes to garage band

I am trying to use garage band to make cd's from old audio tape contents. After I have got the music into garage band and made all of the changes to improve the quality on the master track, how do I seperate the track so that my cd when burnt won't be one continuous track, and how do I burn it to a cd?
    Thanks

    iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

An audio editor is better suited to this task:
    http://www.thehangtime.com/gb/gbfaq2.html#audioeditors
However you can do what you want by using the Cycle
Region button and stretching the yellow bar around
each song (portion of the track) and exporting.
    Thanks for replying
Does this mean that I cannot use garageband for the purpose that I mentioned.
I did read an article in a Mac magazine expressing that making cd's from old audio tapes is possible with garageband, hence me purchasing it. But like all Mac products the manuals are so uninformative.
