After recover of Exchange 2010 hub; Outlook not connecting

Exchange 2010 sp 3, Windows Server 2008 R2 sp1
one of my hub (1 of 2) server failed this morning (no thanks to KB2993651) so in a fit of hurry, i reformatted the server,
deleted the computer account from AD and reinstalled Windows Server 2008 R2 sp1. here is what i did to recover:
from the command line of the server: netsh int tcp set global chimney=disabled; netsh int tcp set global rss=disabled
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip6\Parameters -> DWORD-32 (DisabledComponents) with a value of 0xffffffff
made the server a member of "Exchange Install Domain Servers", "Exchange Trusted Subsystem", "Exchange Servers"
and then i issued the command: setup /m:recoverServer
it went fine well. i also joined it back to Windows NLB cluster.
but when it's online, some Outlook users aren't able to connect. OWA also fails. i can't figure out what's wrong so for now i shutdown the server and am using only one Hub server.
maybe i missed a step? appreciate any help.
EDIT: in the same hub server was my DAG witness folder. i don't know if this has implications now that i lost the DAG witness server (this hub server)

Did you try starting the server after connecting to network ?
You could try starting the server after connecting to network and import the certificate and configure the same URLs as per my first post.  You cannot open EMS and EMC if you start without network connection.
Use this URL to get the command to request new certificate. After running this command in EMS you will see a new request https://www.digicert.com/easy-csr/exchange2010.htm
For installing certificate please check thishttps://www.digicert.com/ssl-certificate-installation-microsoft-exchange-2010.htm.
Thanks, MAS

    Can somebody help me ?
    Kind regards Andy

    Hi,
First, I would like to confirm the following questions:
    1. Does the issue occur on certain user mailbox via OWA or each user mailbox?
    2. Which OWA folder’s email cannot be deleted, Inbox, Sent Items or each folder?
    3. Which version of operating system is installed on the client machine, Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7?
At this stage, I suggest you temporarily disable firewall and anti-spam for a test. If the emails still cannot be removed via OWA, please refer to the following article
and use isinteg tool to check and repair Information Store.

  • E72 not synching after move to Exchange 2010

My company has hundreds of E72 users that synchronize with Exchange 2007.
After we installed Exchange 2010 we had problems because the E72 phones would not get redirected to the legacy.domain.com URL.
We finally had to fix this with a workaround on our reverse proxy.
But now when we move the mailbox to Exchange 2010 the user is able to send out new emails and check the global address list, but new emails are not appearing in the mailbox on the phone.
Updating the firmware (if available), or recreating the Mail for Exchange profile will cause the phone to start syncing again, but this is not a very user friendly solution.
Does anyone know what is causing this? Or better yet, have a solution for this issue?
So far all iPhones, Windows Mobile and Android phones are syncing correctly after the migration.

Bad/Corrupt Rules can also cause migration failures so you might check that as well.
Depending on the # of mailboxes you have to work with another option would be to take an offline copy of the database (EDB/STM) and use a 3rd party utility like Lucid8's DigiScope to open the database offline.  Once you have access to the data you
could dial-tone the DB, then execute the MB move which will go fast since the DB is pretty much empty.  Once completed use DigiScope to inject/migrate the data directly from the offline 2003 database into the production Exchange Server.
Search, Recover, & Extract Mailboxes, Folders, & Email Items from Offline Exchange Mailbox and Public Folder EDB's and Live Exchange Servers or Import/Migrate direct from Offline EDB to Any Production Exchange Server, even cross version i.e. 2003 -->
    2007 --> 2010 --> 2013 with Lucid8's

  • HT5567 Iphones and Ipads with IOS 6.0.x and later getting Calendar invitation even so that Delegate access is enable on exchange 2010 and outlook 2010

I'm Running Exchange 2010 with outlook 2010 in my environment, since Apple OS went from 5.x to 6.x I been having issues where the Iphones and Ipads running OS version 6.x or higher do not acknowledge that the exchange user has a calendar delegate and are automatically accepting the invitations, not allowing the Delegate to acknowledge first, If this test is run on any Apple devices running OS Version 5.x but less than 6.x the issue is not there.. any one that may have encounter with this situation got a fix or a possible resolution on it.. Thanks

Ok, well after looking at everything, I decided that the best solution was to uninstall an App called "Tango", as it seemed to 'mess' with contacts directly, and I only use it with 1 person, so switching back to Skype (plus Tango sends/shares lots of personal
info, location, and keeps changing it's access rights and doing stuff when you're not looking - I'm sure some people love it, but for me, it's a belts and braces get rid of anything that might have 'contributed' to this issue).
Found my un-sync'd contacts and emailed them to myself, then deleted the Exchange active-sync account. Checked what was left, found google had managed to sync some stuff, cleared that up too!
RE-created the account on the S4 - only need the email and password, as it finds the server and sets itself up automatically (I guess it did that previously).
All is now working, after about 5mins the data had been re-populated and it sync's new changes instantly. But I will monitor from time to time to check that new contacts or added numbers etc do sync. My best guess is that some index or other data became corrupt.
Just one of those things (or had I been tango'd?!).
On the Truncating Notes Issue, the S4 (realised that it's running Android 4.3) does chop a note but only if edited, at 1001 chrs. However unlike others, it seems to only truncate the note if you actually edit the note field, so adding a phone number or removing
one, leaves the note field intact!
To summaries other devices behaviour with the Contact record Notes Field:
    - iPhone 3GS (on iOS 6.1.3) truncates at 32,777 chrs (so pretty big notes!)
    - Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (GT-N8020 - Android 4.1.1) chops at about 1,000chrs, even if just adding a phone number to the contact - so not even editing the notes field
    - HTC One X (4.2.2) at 5,122 chrs (when editing any part of the contact)
I hope this might help someone in the future if they have similar problems ...
    cheers

apple sign shows up and then turns off after a few seconds, and i can not connect to my itunes

I have the exact same problem trying to use the Remote app on both my iPhone 3gs and iPad 2 with either my Mac or ATV2.  My Remote app used to work on my phone - I can't recall if I ever actually used it with my iPad, but when I tried today, I got all the same results as you did (on both iPad, and then iPhone).  I  was using my ATV2 to play music from iTunes on my Mac and wanted to use the Remote app, but it would not connect to either device no matter what I did.

  • After server move Exchange 2010 not sending emails

We moved the servers to a different building and after getting everything set back up we're unable to send emails. The only thing that really should have changed would have been our external IP address. We've updated all of our DNS records to point to our new IP.When I go to "Microsoft Exchange with Database Availability Group Events" event log I see the error:The Microsoft Exchange Mail Submission service is currently unable to contact any Hub Transport servers in the local Active Directory site. The servers may be too busy to accept new connections at this time."When I go to Queue Viewer the "Last Error" listed is:451 4.4.0 Primary target IP address responded with "421 4.4.2 Connection dropped due to SocketError." Attempted failover to alternate host, but that did not succeed. Either there are no alternate hosts, or delivery failed...

    Hi,
Based on the description, SharePoint users can send internal emails to each other, however, they couldn't send external emails to Internet.

  • After Migrating To Exchange 2013 All Outlook 2010 Users Constantly Prompted For Password (BUT OUTLOOK WORKS).

I have two servers.  One is Exchange 2010 and the other is Exchange 2013.
Three of our users had mailboxes on Exchange 2013 for the last few weeks with no problems.  They used Outlook 2013 and Outlook 2010.  After moving the rest of our ~25 users to Exchange 2013 the users with Outlook 2010 began to be prompted for their
    password constantly.
They try entering it and it immediately reappears.
The odd thing is it shows connected and they are able to send and receive emails correctly.
I've tested our exchange connectivity using www.testexchangeconnectivity.com and all is well there.
I'm not really sure what's going on.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Luke
    Thanks, Luke Pickard

This can appear if Outlook clients are trying to connect to OAB virtual directory, and don't succeed for some reason. Mailbox and mailflow will work, but password prompt will appear when Outlook tries to contact OAB. Try to investigate in that direction.
Also, perform Outlook Configuration test (right click Outlook icon in task bar while holding CTRL and select Test email autoconfiguration.

  • Win 8.1 modern calendar - all notes in a calendar meeting are truncated/removed after opening/viewing (Exchange 2010 and EAS)

    All,
If this isn't the best forum to post in, please let me know.
I am having an issue when I accept calendar invites in the native/modern application for calendaring in Win 8.1. Whenever I then go back to open and view the contents of a meeting, all the notes are truncated and removed after closing that event.
We are running exchange 2010 for the email server.
The machine is not domain joined/managed (local account only).
    Any assistance greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Team,
Looking for some expert advice here - any assistance would be appreciated.

  • Exchange 2010 Autodiscovery & Outlook Anywhere kind of but really not working

This is driving me nuts. We have a single Exchange Server 2010 running (everything is on one box). It works fine internally (all Outlook clients can see and grab the login info from the user login). OWA works from outside, mail delivers nicely. My problems
all seem to stem around some mysterious problem in autodiscover and outlook anywhere.
Our domain is internally like this: mycompany2.com and outside like this: mycompanyllc.com
So the mail server inside looks like server1.mycompany2.com and outside: mail.mycompanyllc.com - from what I can see it's all set up correctly in both.
I've run the connectivity analyzer and apart from a minor certificate warning ('Your certificate may not be trusted on Windows if the "Update Root Certificates" feature isn't enabled) it passes every test on the site for EAS and Outlook Anywhere
(and for good measure I ran everything, all green checks!). Autodiscover works in the test, everything gets found and pointed to the right place.
When I have a user that wants to configure Outlook 2010 or 2013 outside
the org. they start the wizard, type their name, their email, their password. The server or user can't be found and no matter what they do it won't find it. If you go in and manually configure the
internal server name, domain, username you can connect. It just won't set it up automatically. The odd thing is, in the analyzer the autodiscovery XML is found and downloaded fine, all the server name info and detail is displayed.
In Outlook 2013, both Exchange and EAS connection doesn't work even though phones can be set up through EAS (although they require the same kind of manual setup--autodiscover doesn't seem to work even though it keeps telling me everything
    is fine).
I'm at wits end, all the tests show it's working, but in the real world the server can't be found. It's right on the DNS servers, it's right in the tests, it responds correctly manually. I'd love users to be able to set up their own mail without a 10 page
printout of all the manual settings. It's all relatively late model hardware, Outlook 2010 or 2013, and a fully patched up to date Exchange 2010 server. Anyone have an idea?
    Curt Kessler - FLC

We don't use TMG we use a WatchGuard Firewall and it is configured to allow all traffic to this server (that's why manual works fine with Outlook and OWA).
When I run the get-autodiscovervirtualdirectory it returns my internal server under the Server, and nothing more, so this possibly could be it?? I'm definitely not good at IIS at all, I would need guidance to investigate that further...
This is my EXRCA results, the first fail is because it tests the root of mydomain.com rather than mail.mydomain.com which is a different server. I've replaced some names for security purposes:

  • CRES html email attachments not working after upgrade to Exchange 2010

We have just upgraded from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010.  No other changes have been made to our network.  No changes were made to user workstations.  Now when users receive emails from Cicso Registered Envelope Service the HTML file attachments seem to be damaged.  It seems as if Exchange 2010 is stripping part of the HTML attachment.  The final error is "Incomplete Payload".  Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

I'm sorry that you're having problems. Can you answer these questions so that we can better help you?
What "Adobe update" are you referring to?  Adobe Flash Player? Adobe Reader? Something else?  (Adobe produces countless products/services, so we need to know what got updated on your computer.)
Are you using the Adobe Send service? Note that you posted your question in a forum that's used for suggesting new features for that service.
Can you attach other files to emails, but not just PDFs?
What email program are you using?

    Hi,
I recommend you use event viewer to check if there are any relate event logs. This may help us to find the cause.
In addition, as Amit mentioned, Exchange 2010 SP2 isn't supported by Microsoft, I think upgrading to SP3 is a much more sensible approach.
    Thanks.

  • External emails not received after shutdown of Exchange 2010 in coexistence with Exchange 2013

I have exchange 2013 and exchange 2010 in coexistence mode. All mailboxes have been moved to Exchange 2013 and firewall/spamfilters already pointed to Exchange 2013 CAS server. I can receive/send from and to external addresses, however when I shutted down
the Exchange 2010 all incoming external mails were not received. What could be the cause?

Start by re-checking how the device that takes the traffic from the external MX IP to internal is configured.
Sniff the traffic to ensure that it is hitting 2013 directly.
    Cheers,

  • One inaccessible mailbox after ESEUTIL /P Exchange 2010

Following a hardware crash which corrupted logiles, I ran ESEUTIL /P to recover my databases (1 public folder and 1 mailbox).
All is well except for one mailbox which is not accessible at all.
From Outlook 2010 a new profile (cached or not) :
"Cannot open your default e-mail folders. You must connect to Microsoft Excahnge with the current profile before you can synchronise your folders with your Outlook data file (.ost)"
    From OWA:
"The item you tried to access no longer exists.
The item wasn't found. You or a delegate might have moved or deleted it using another computer or a mobile phone. "
If I try and move it to a new database:
    Error:

    I have run new-mailboxrepairrequest
    CarolChi

Backups are always the bet way to go about this rather than doing a /P.
Since you did a defrag of the database, that accounts for the Outlook cached mode client seeing a new GUID.  That is why it will not connect to the old DB.

  • Cannot empty Deleted Items - Exchange 2010 and outlook 2007

    Dear All,
In my organization a user have a problem, they are unable to delete emails from Deleted Items folder nor from Outlook 2007 nor from OWA.
The messages are very small (few KB) so I think it's not a problem of messages dimension. The user can move the messages from a folder to another (from Deleted Items to Drafts or to another folder and viceversa) but no way to delete permanently these messages.
Outlook runs on Remote Desktop Server so I can't put it in Cached Mode.
    Error Message:
"some items cannot be deleted. They were either moved or already deleted, or access was denied "
    Environment:
    Exchange 2010 with SP1 update rollup 4-v2
    2 Server Box Installation
    Mailbox Clustered (DAG)
    HUB & CAS (NLB)
    Incoming message size 50MB
    Send Connectors Message Size: 50MB
User Client (Outlook 2007 with Latest Updates)
    Any IDEA??
    Regards,
    Milena.

    I reply to myself:
the user had exceeded the Dumpster quota.
I purged a lot of recoverable items and this seems had resolved the problem.
What I can't understand is WHY exchange server does not tell that the quota of the dumpster was exceeded: no warning to user, no event in event viewer, nothing at all...
    Milena.
