After recovery server app is gone

We have a mac mini server. It was pre installed with the server app when it comes. But when i erase all data on disk and reinstalled the mac-os, server app does not come with in it.
It was not problem since i was able to download it with my apple id. After having a hardware problem and replacing the disks, i installed maverics and try to download server app again, it makes me to buy it again.
Why i have to buy server app, since i am using server edition of mac mini ?

Vega,
Note Apple Made Mavericks Client free, but they never said Mavericks Server App is free.  Be glad that the Server app is cheap. I've been using OS X Server since the days of  OS 10.3 Server and back then for an unlimited client is was not cheap $1000.  Anyway, Starting with OS 10.7, Apple sold Mavericks client for i think $29 and I think to get the Server App was another $29.  Then OS 10.8, Apple dropped it to $20 for the client and then another $20 for the Server App. Now, Apple gives OS 10.9 Free and Server App is at $20.
So it's just only $20 and I paid $20 for upgrading my Macmini Server.  Anyway, I hope this helps clarify your question.

  • Hanging on boot after upgrading server.app

After upgrading to 10.9 Server.App my boot hangs at "/etc/rc.server: line 14: /etc/rc.server.firewall: No such file or directory" and won't boot into safe mode either. Anyone know how I can fix this without restoring from a backup?

    Cameron, thanks for your feedback.
I'm on a 2011 iMac, with a DIY Fusion Drive (I added a SSD inside). I always had slow startups. I thought it was the custom Fusion Drive's fault, but now I know it was not.
Now I can't boot at all, just after applying the most recent 10.9.2 security update. This is a software issue. The iMac was running Mountain Lion Server, then I upgraded to Mavericks but did not upgrade to Mavericks Server. However there were remains of the old 10.8 Server app.
As I said, yesterday I deleted all those remains (booting from an external drive). However I forgot the most obvious thing: open that **** /etc/rc.server file and comment out line 14.
This morning I booted the iMac again, in verbose mode. The message about /etc/rc.server was not there, at last, but fsck was launched and took a long time. I had to go to work, where I am now, and I don't know if fsck finished its work. I'll let you know...

  • Server NAT crashed after install server.app 2.1 in OSX 10.8.2

I have a server (mac mini) OSX 10.8.2. It was working with DHCP and NAT activated manually (command line) but after update it, service NAT do not work. I followed all steps that show here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5215 without success. I have 2 interfaces: en0 connected to internet and en3 to LAN.
    Someone has an idea thanks

  • Server.app: Users button ( + / -) are disabled of a replica server

    Hi everybody,
After upgrade the server to 10.9.5 and server app 3.2.1 version, it has been crashing during the importation of users into server app using a text file. At the beginning everything was ok with a text file where there were only one user, but when I tried to do the same thing with all users file, the progress bar was freeze and just after reopen server app the buttons + and - were disabled. We have 1 master than 5 replicas servers working with the same OS X and server app version and this particular issue is only here. There is a similar postBug: Manage +/- buttons "Users" and "Users' Groups" disabled in server.app  but this issue coming back again after the first importation (It doesn't matter if you are using a text file with 5, 20 o 100 users).
Moreover, if I set it up as a master, everything is right so I was wondering if this new server app version cause this issue or if it is related to mavericks itself because we upgraded all servers two month ago.
    I'll appreciate every clue,
    Thanks

This is a copy from Slapconfig.log. This start creating a replica and finish when it is destroyed. Between 21:39:39 ans 22:20:49 the server app crashed and nothing is reported with this service, after that, I destroyed the replica. The only problem that I see, is in times of each register, the real time was already 16:00 aprox. but It show 21:33 aprox, I don't now why and the others files are correct in time.

  • Server app on Mavericks broken on a Time Machine recovery

Have installed a replacement hard drive in my iMac and recovered from my most recent Time Machine backup.
Everything seems to have gone well except for the Server app, which is now unusable.
On starting Server I get my first error:
“An error occurred while updating your service data”
Click continue, spinning wheel in the dialogue box.
When connecting to server I get a second error; select “This machine”, log in with previous credentials (an admin user):
    “Server requires administrator login
The user is not permitted to administer this server. Make this user an administrator on this server and try again”
The user account I am using IS an administrator on this computer.
I’ve tried a full recovery from the Time Machine backup twice now.
Any suggestions? My thoughts are it could be a Keychain issue, but I'm not sure.

Yes I updated via wifi. And no...everything seemed to work fine. But I alsa had a problem with my photos..mostly on my iPhone. I had like 900 or so photos saved on my photo stream..and I used that to hold all my photos, rightt? CUZ I could delete pics from my camera roll but they'd still be on my photo stream  Well now after I updated. THEY ARE ALL GONE. And I'm really sad. I don't know how to get those pics Back.

  • How do i recovery the apps to my phone after transferring apps from my iphone?

how do i recovery the apps to my phone after transferring apps from my iphone?

If you've download apps from the iTunes app store then you can only install them on an iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch, you can't use them on a computer (PC or Mac)

  • While trying to access my local network I get the message..."The page could not be opened because server cannot be found."  This, after updating to Yosemite and paying (again) for the server app.

It's absolutley scandalous that a company with Apple's resources can let this happen.  They should have staggered the release by region rather than opening the flood gates.  The upgrade itself took me about 10 attempts to download it, and then I thought I was home free.  That was until it rebooted and won't activate.  It's over 2 hours now.
    Scandalous!

It's due to recon issue. OIM has many recon processes. One such process is LDAP-OIM sync job that runs behind the scene.
It may be an issue with the 'trigger table value' which recon job depends. If 'trigger table value' is not set properly, you may get this issue.
    Do this workaround:

  • Server.app can't connect after 10.7.3

I've already tried the trick where you see if the server stub is running, and it says it is loaded.  However, it will not let me connect.  I can only admin the machine now via screen sharing.  It won't accept any connections from server.app or the other server admin tools.
This is a brand new server and I'm trying to get this up and running, but this is FRUSTRATING.
    What else could it be?

After just standing up a Lion Server, and installing Server.app on my MBP with the intent of administering it from there, I was dumbfounded as to why it would not recognize my attempts at connecting. I tried everything I have read in the forum posts on the subject, to no avail.
Then, I tried this. I connected by LAN IP address, in my case, 192.168.1.3, static DHCP on Airport Extreme, and it worked. So I am guessing that there must be a DNS problem somewhere in my configuration. Either that, or port 311 is blocked at the firewall, which I have not checked yet.

  • Login problem after installing and activating OS X Server app in Yosemite

After installing and activating file sharing on OS X Server on my MacBook Air, the MBA was restarted. At the login screen I enter my password into my account and it directs me to a 'Guest' login screen, asking for a password which I did not create.

  • 3G after restore most apps gone. What did I wrong?

My 3G became slow and I decided to restore the software. After a succesfull restore and placing back my copy I found out that 75% of my apps are gone and I cannot transfer them from itunes to my 3G. I tried to update the IOS from 4.2.1 tot 6 xx without success. What did I wrong?

If the apps in your iTunes library have been updated, I'm afraid you're out of luck. There is no way to redownload older versions of apps. You can go here & see what iTunes support can offer as a solution:
