  • IMovie not seeing iPhoto in the Media Photos tab iMovie 6.0.3/iPhoto 6.0.5

    Hello
I'm trying to use iPhoto through iMovie, but it doesn't see iPhoto under the Media>Photos tab. It says "open iPhoto 2 or later to see photos from your iPhoto library in this list."
I have iPhoto 6.0.5 and iMovie 6.0.3, and even when I open iPhoto it doesn't recognize. Restarting computer didn't help.
    Please help,
    Chris

    Greetings,
I am having the same trouble with both iMovie and the new iTunes 7.
Here's a clue: We share our photos and songs and have relocated the photo library "Shared" and have set up an ACL. It has been working great, except iMovie seems to not understand it has moved. I can use iPhoto to create a new library in the user 'default' area, and iMovie sees it fine. But even if I switch libraries when starting iPhoto, iMovie can't find it, and there appears to be no way to browse for another iPhoto library.
iTunes 6 worked ok, but after downloading iTunes 7, I have the exact same problem.
    Any ideas?

  • Aperture not seeing iPhoto Libraries on external drive when trying to do a REFERENCED import.

I am trying to bring all my iPhoto libraries (one for each year) together into one REFERENCED Aperture library.  I have the iPhoto libraries on an external hard drive and want the Aperture Library on my main drive.  Whe I go to the Import window I do see my external hard drive on the list of drives, but the files do not show up.  It shows folders and any readable files in the folders, but not the iPhoto Libraries, which are not in any folders.  I am running out of space on my hard drive, so want to do a referenced import, not a managed one, but I can't seem to get it to work.  I have tried doing the copy drag and drop method (holding command+option and dragging and dropping from finder to Aperture, but it still copies the whole library to the main drive, it does not reference it).  Help, please!

Whe I go to the Import window I do see my external hard drive on the list of drives, but the files do not show up.
Aperture will not show you files in libraries in the import panel.  iPhoto libraries are not imported using the import panel. Importing the files using the import panel would result in importing a mess of thumbnails, previews, and originals, and you would lose your organisation in events and albums and probably  most of your metadata tags.
You import iPhoto Libraries as library:
    File > Import > Library
If the library you are importing is referenced, it will be imported referenced, if it is managed, the images will be imported managed. You can relocate the managed originals to your external volume directly after import using the command "File > Relocate originals"
See: Aperture 3.3: How to use Aperture to merge iPhoto libraries

  • IMovie does not see iPhoto Libraries

I just purchased a new MacBook Pro and imported my photos and videos into iPhoto.  Now iMovie does not see them.  If I import them to iPhoto on my iPad I see them in iMovie on the iPad.  I expect the same from the MacBook Pro.  What is up?  Am I doing something Wrong?

As I always have my preference set to copy items to the iPhoto Library, hopefully I won't see any problems. Once I'm running with iLife '11 (hopefully some time on Monday) I will let you know how things go.
Neville, just to let you know (as promised), everything went very smoothly with my iLife '11 upgrade. All my iPhoto videos showed up in iMovie '11 within the item "iPhoto Videos" in the Events Library. But, as I mentioned earlier, my preferences are set to copy photos to the iPhoto Library.
After installing iLife '11, my first step was to open iPhoto and allow the database to update. Once I was satisfied that iPhoto was running OK, I then opened iMovie and waited for it to do all the upgrading. That went smoothly also, other than a warning about a Centred Title missing from one of my iPhoto Videos and that the video wouldn't play without it. I haven't bothered to track that down yet - the video wasn't identified in the warning message.
I appreciate this doesn't really help you solve your issue, but it does help to confirm that things seem to work OK when the iPhoto preference is set to the option I've selected (copy photos). Note that my iPhoto Library is located on the internal drive. I have a small number of photos that I keep in separate folders outside of the iPhoto Library - mainly stuff I've done for other people that I don't want cluttering up iPhoto (although I realise that these can be hidden in iPhoto).

  • IMovie 11 does not see iPhoto videos

Using iLife 09, iMovie showed my iPhoto videos in the lower pane event browser.
    Upgraded to iLife 11.
iPhoto spent some time converting my library - but it completed; and seems fine.
iMovie, however, no longer shows the iPhoto videos. The text says no video clips match the current selection - but this never changes no matter what is selected.
My previous iMovie projects all still exist; and seem fine. The videos that were added from the event browser in '09 are also still fine within those projects.
I'd appreciate any suggestions for fixing this.

  • ITunes not seeing iPhoto Albums in iPod interface

All other iLife apps see the iPhoto albums but not iTunes. The Albums are not listed - just a blank window. When I try to sync all the photos from iPhoto to the iPod I am getting the -50 error.
I have done the 5R's to the iPod.
    Any ideas?
    TIA
    MJ

I followed your last instructions but I still get the error-50.
I think I have narrowed it down to an iPhoto problem.
I created a new iPhoto album and then created some smart+regular albums and iTunes could see them and sync them to the iPod. I then added about 1500 photos, at some point iTunes refused to see the albums again.
I will keep at it until ...... if all else fails I will just take the photos that I want on the iPod and export them to an folder and added them to the iPod that way.
    Thanks for your input.

  • ITunes does not see iPhoto Albums

I've been struggling with getting my iPhoto library to show up in iTunes for synching with my iPod and Apple TV. I read through a bunch of posts and tried rebuilding my iPhotos database (when out of iTunes and other iLife apps).
    It didn't work.
I then pulled the AlbumData.xml into Text Wrangler and "Zapped Gremlins" which removes all odd characters. I dropped it back into the standard location and opened up iTunes. Viola! It was there. I jumped back into iPhoto and put together a new album with photos that I wanted to synch.
I went back into iTunes -- nadda. Nothing. No list.
What's going on? Why is iPhoto putting bad characters into the xml that is not letting iTunes read it?
    Any ideas?
I am running the latest iLife suite.

Ok, after a few hours of trial and tribulation using Text Wrangler, I isolated the bad characters to three photos with strange characters in their file names. They were scanned images that were probably accidentally named with a bad character. I edited the file name -- that does not work. I edited the xml file and file name. That does not work.
Finally, I saved the comments for each photo, deleted them from iPhoto and reimported those three and applied the three comments. That worked. Ouch. I hope this helps someone so that they do not need to work on this for so long.

  • Not seeing iPhotos 'photos' in Photo Library on iPhone.

I have some photos in the Photos, Events folders in iPhoto.
However, they are not in the Photo Library on iPhone.
They are in the Photo Stream folder on iPhone.  I am confused they are not showing up in the iPhone Photo library when they are in iPhoto.
The one thing I do notice is the photos not showing up on iPhone were created using iPhone software.  Would this be the reason?
Thanks and I look forward to your reply.

I'd ask that on the iPhone forum.

  • I could not see photos after updated with ios 6(used wi-fi)

I have upgraded with ios 6 on 21-Sep-2012, after that I could not see my photos on my phone 4.
I used apple id for icould buy not able to verify.
    thanks,
    umapathi

Same issue. But my iPhone 4 does it as well. Only thing is with my iPhone it maintains a persistent 3G connection so at least I'm getting my messages as they arrive. But if I relied solely on WiFi  and my device was in sleep mode, I wouldn't get any notifications.
On my iPad 2 I've tried forgetting the network, renew lease, rebooted, airplane mode etc. Nothing works.
It's not crippling my device but it's really annoying and it's not the way it should behave.

  • Can not see the new appending fields in RSA6

    Hi,
I add one appending structure to existing datasource, after that I can not see the new field in RSA6, RSO2. However I can see it from RSA2 and SE11 (for extract structure).
    Any idea?
    Thanks
    Victor

    Victor,
can you tell me how u have done this. you have a DS in RSA6 created from RSO2. then you created a append structure right? then click on your DS on the RSA6 screen. click on change icon on the application tool bar or function key CTRL + SHIFT +F1, maintain the datasource.
can you able to see the fields here or not (i'm asking for change mode)?
    Nagesh.

  • Keeping iPhoto flickr/facebook online things intact during/after reformat?

    Hey all,
About to wipe my Macbook (Erase & Install) - been awhile.
I have several albums in iPhoto that are synced Flickr and Facebook albums - will these be 'lost' if i reformat? I can save the iPhoto Library file during the process - if I put that 'back' when I am on my new install of the OS, will those albums return? Is is a preference file that tells iPhoto what's supposed to be there (in terms of the online synced stuff) or something else?
I really like that they are synced and that there are comments on the albums/photos - don't want to lose that, but need to wipe this machine. I know I can keep the local versions of the albums, and re-upload if I had to - just would like to keep it the way it is, and haven't reformatted since I started using iPhoto to manage online content.
    Thanks a bunch

Thanks for the responses, was hoping the online sync stuff was held in the library file in the Pictures folder, wanted to ask before I hauled off and deleted everything.
Not to go off topic but..
I reformat/wipe every so often, knowing that it isn't necessary, but because for one I just like the fresh start - I like putting only the apps/docs/etc back that I know I am going to use (and anything I forget, I probably don't really need anyway right?), that I know are what I want on the machine - I try out new apps constantly (trial period junkie) to see what's out there - and end up with a stuffed Apps folder after awhile - not to mention whatever else I decide to gunk up my machine with. I work on a very tight (small) hd on my Macbook as my primary (only) machine - space is tight, even with 2TB's of external storage.
I call it regular maintenance - I know most people don't do it, but I've gotten it down to such an exact science (used to do it every 90 days) I can wipe a machine and have it back up and running in probably an hour or two - preferences, user settings/passwords and all. Call me weird, but I think it's actually kind of fun.
And it might just be psychosomatic but I swear there's a huge performance boost after a wipe and a fresh install. I work with fairly large 16 bit Photoshop files, and every second is noticeable (even in other apps, iTunes seems to do better after a wipe too) Probably pushing the limits of a non-pro laptop, but it's all I got!

  • Iphoto not seeing iPhone4S

iPhoto not seeing camera roll on iphone 4S. Have turned on Photo Stream because when iPhone is plugged into iMac, it no longer shows up as a device in iPhoto. How do I get the pics from phone to iPhoto. It will show any pictures taken after enabling PhotoStream on my phone, but not pictures on "camera roll."

Have turned on Photo Stream because when iPhone is plugged into iMac
If you have iCloud enabled there's no need to connect the iPhone to the iMac. Photos, apps, music, etc syncs via your Wi-Fi network.
Try switching Photo Stream off then back on in Settings > iCloud then reset your iPhone.
Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home button down at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    And restart your iMac.

    Hi,
You have managed to post in Applications then iChat within that.
    iPhoto is listed under iLife
I have not used iPhoto enough to be  able to offer solution for you.
You would be better off posting in the iPhoto Forum (in that link above)

If neither iPhoto not IC can seethe card it might suggest an issue with the card or the ports on the camera/mac.
Try reformat the card, change the ports and/or use a USB Card Reader.
