After reinstall, Premiere CS4 will not open

To solve an Encore problem, I had to uninstall the Production Premium suite, run the cleaner, reboot, and reinstall the
suite.  This did not solve my Encore problem, and also created a new one for Premiere.
When I launch Premiere, it starts to open, and gets as far as loading the Project window, then greys out with message. "Premiere has ancounted a serious error, and needs to close"
Anyone have any answers for this?

OK. John and Jeff, I found that command when I click on the icon
on the desktop.  I was using the icon on the task bar.
OK, so Jeff,
I click Pr on desktop, Run as Admin
Try to send to DL.   Still nothing happens.
So, John, I then click En on desktop, run as admin, and it opens Encore.  So I close it, and then try to send it through DL. Nothing happens.
I have never known what Dynamic Link was before, so even since CS2 when it came out, I opened it once, had no idea what it was or what to do with it, and never tried again.
So, I have no idea what is supposed to happen, or what it looks like when working correctly

    For future reference, where should the scratch disk reside? I heard it should not be on the boot drive?

    Adobe premiere CS3 will not open.  When I click on the Adobe icon on my desktop, I get this message:  This application has failed to start because prm.dll was not found.  I've tried several things such as:  uninstalling the program then reinstalliing it.  I tried to open Adobe by clicking on one of my projects by opening MY Computer from start on the taskbar, then click on c drive, etc. but it will not open.  Before I started getting the error message stated above, when I clicked on the icon, the program would load to the point of showing the top portion of the page (file, edit, etc.) then stop.  It would never fully load.  HELP!!!!!   I'm in the middle of trying to meet several deadlines.

    First, search your system for every instance of prm.dll. See if you have one (could be corrupt, but a Repair Install should have repaired it) in your PrPro CS3 folder hierarchy. Do you have any more? How do the dates and sizes compare to the one, if there is one, in PrPro? Here is a LINK to a .dll site. I do not know this site, so cannot even comment on their .dll's. I'd do the first suggestion, well - first.
    Also, I do not know this .dll. It could be a VST from an Audio editing program, or similar. Some of these have been known to bring PrPro to its knees, at launch. Might be worthwhile to check into it a bit more.
    Also, take a look at Event Viewer. This ARTICLE will give you some tips on what to look for. Could be more happening, than the error message might lead one to believe.

    Yes, you need CS6. DNG Converter is just a standalone tool to convert RAW to DNG files which then may be possible to open in older versions of Adobe tools.

    Adobe no longer supports the installation and use of Acrobat 6 as it is a very old version which is not compatible with Windows 7.
    I would suggest you to please use the latest version of Acrobat i.e. 11.0.10 which is fully compatible with your OS with its enhanced features and functions.

  • Illustrator CS4 will not open in XP Professional

    Although I am running Windows XP Professional AI CS4 will not open on my computer.
    Photoshop and InDesign work perfectly but Illustrator seems unable to recognize the XP operating system and gives an error message accordingly.

    If I recall correctly, the issue is introduced by an incorrect install/ update of .NET runtimes (one of the newer versions, 3.5 I think). I've seen the message myself on one of my systems, but I'm not really sure how I fixed it. Reason however dictates, that manually initiating a Windows Update or downloading .NET installers from Microsoft's pages, would be one thing to try. If the solution floats to the top from the murky depths of my brain, I'll report back.

    2009 MacBook Pro eh? It looks like your hard drive has failed. Three years is pretty standard. Often, then only hint you have is catastrophic failure.
    If you put the old hard drive into an external enclosure or similar device, you may still be able to migrate your data from it. Just because it won't boot doesn't mean you can't still read from it. Still, I wouldn't keep trying it. As long as you are buying a new hard drive, may as well get sometime to use with Time Machine too.

    I received a jpg from a customer today that CS4 will not open but CS3 will. CS4 just hangs. I closed down the program and tried this several times. CS4 opens other jpgs just fine.
    I am on a Mac Pro w/5 gig of RAM. Have experience no other problems.

    Yes you probably lost a pixel or two when you saved it as a jpeg again. But, since they are sending you a jpeg in the first place I'm going to take a guess that it's just so you can preview it.
    Also, this issue is not consistent. If it were true that every time someone received a jpeg it didn't open in CS4, the forums would be flooded.
    Odds are it's just saved with something strange that is tripping CS4 up (like an ICC profile). It could be 3rd party add-ons. Could be preferences. If you start seeing it happen more from this particular person but not from others, then it's probably a setting applied to the jpeg on her end.
