After reloading fonts do not appear in Character tab

I had to reload after getting new hard drive and cannot get fonts to show up in Type/character. They do show up under the Type dropdown but not under window/type/character. I have deleted preferences and .lst files. I have deleted windows/system32/fontcache and restarted. This happened once before after a reload and can't remember the solution. I downloaded a trial of CS4 and it works fine. I have read about this problem and tried the solutions to no avail. I am hoping someone that was successful correcting this problem can tell me what worked for them. Its driving me nuts!

This seems weird but I unchecked "enable glyph protection" in CS4 Trial version (as I could not find any thing like that in CS2) and the CS2 started displaying the fonts in Character palette again! I hope when I delete CS4 they continue to work. Any explanations for why this works?

Illustrator 12.0 -- Fonts will not appear in character palette.

I recently had to reformat my computer, and had to re-install Adobe Illustrator. Ever since fonts will not load in my character palette.
The only way for me to access fonts is by going to type >> font at the top of the program. I've tried re-installing Illustrator, but have had no luck.
Any ideas on how to correct this problem? It didn't exist before, and fonts load correctly in Photoshop.

Move the folder. Sometimes the preferences are wrong from the beginning.

Calibri Font does not appear in pdf docs when viewed in Preview

When I open a pdf file created on a PC the Calibri Font does not appear when the doc is opened in Preview. It does not print also.

Some fonts do not appear in InDesign

Some fonts do not appear in InDesign although they can be used in Word, Pagemaker and show in Adobe Typemanager.

Can you name one?
These are the most common causes of people complaining "My fonts don't appear":
(a) Smart name sorting. "New Century Schoolbook" sorts under "C", not "N". "Adobe Garamond" sorts under "G". (I call this 'smart' sorting because apparently it isn't the same as, ehm, dumb sorting. However, I've never read a good description of its sort parameters.)
(b) Word and PageMaker (but not ATM) allow the use of fake fonts: bold, italics and bold+italics are produced by horribly deforming your base font. If you want a bold font in InDesign, use the designed one. If there isn't one designed ... the designer probably had good reasons not to make one. (It's still possible to create faux-bold and faux-italics in InDesign but the program leaves that decision to you).
(c) Smart Script sorting. InDesign groups its fonts per supported script. Latin fonts are at the top (a slightly self-centric choice), then come groups of fonts for Hebrew, Arabic, Thai, Chinese, Japanese, etc. etc. A font like Gisha contains Hebrew characters and thus appears in the Hebrew group.
(d) More than one font file with the same font name (internally). ID gets mightily confuzed if it encounters a file "times.ttf", font name "Times Roman", in one folder, and "tr_____.pfb", font name "Times Roman", in another folder. You can't really blaim it, though.

'custom' font sounds like you may be working with a font that is unsupported on iOS/iPad.
Supported fonts are found in the pull-down font menu in the toolbar. Authors are obligated (mostly) to stick to that list.

Calendar not appearing in sync tab on MobileMe System Preferences

The Calendar check box is not appearing in sync tab on MobileMe System Preferences.
When I opened SP, MobileMe and sync tab, I can Calendar showing up and disappearing right away. What is this?
I am sorry if it was already discussed, but I could not find it. I can see topics about iCal bug and syncs but not specificaly this one.

The calendar sync has been removed from the MobileMe Sync preference pane, but I have seen the problem you have described, and can invoke it by accessing the "Open MobileMe Preferences...> selction through the sync icon menu item (Option + Click):
Then I am presented with this:
The "Calendars" choice disappears when I access the sync preference directly from System Preferences.
Seems like a bug to me.

Hi, If u have created proper change no in CC01 with assigned object material with proper validity period u can give revision level to material.
In order to reflect the current revision level on PO printout, the coding in PO print program should be designed accordingly to pick the latest revision level. PO output needs to be re-issued so that the new output can pick the latest information like PO revision level from the master.

Delete [http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js sessionstore.js] and sessionstore.bak in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder]
If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.

After installing fonts, they wont appear in font list for programmes? help

Hi! mac newbie here, just got it
when i 1st got my mac i put about a thousand fonts on and it was fine, then when ive recently tried to put a few more ttf fonts on, they appear in the library but not in fireworks of photoshop or anything.
its really annoying! ive tried deleting them, and using font book, or closing programmes and reinstalling. im so confused
do i have too many fonts activated?

I am replying to my own question in case the answer may help others.

I looked at the new book I downloaded right click-get info to find it has the extension m4p. All the others I downloaded (and successfully appeared in the ipod audiobooks menu) had the extension m4b.
I will change the extension and re sync and report back.

Urgent: Custom font style not appearing in PDF output only

Hi,
For a customer, I received customer specific font styles(ttf font files) which I installed on my machine and then copied those files in Oracle\BI Publisher\BI Publisher Desktop\Template Builder for Word\fonts as well as in JRE/lib/fonts. Then I created a template in word and font there appears as custom font.
Now I am getting that font style in all output formats(rtf,ppt,excel) except the PDF output. I am using Oracle BI Publisher desktop alone. Not sure what I missed because of which text font is not changing in PDF version only. I checked the PDF properties and there also custom font is not getting mapped.

Show font does not appear on the top left of my preview window.

I'm trying to edit my title and the show font box is not appearing in the preview window. I've tried to access it through the text -show font on the top menu bar but it does not make or accept the changes. HELP!

Opentype fonts do not appear in any applications

I recently discovered some opentype fonts that came with Adobe CS3. The fonts are in the font folder in the root library and appear in the application Font Book. However, the fonts do not show up in any other application, including the Adobe applications. The fonts are all enabled. I suspect I am missing something very simple, but cannot figure out what it is.

There's a lot of fonts hidden in that fonts folder on that CD glad you picked them up.
I assume you installed the fonts by double clicking them and clicking install.?
You may need to rebuild your font caches per application - this will erase your prefernces so start it with the CS3 application you use least (choose between ID, PS and AI).
Hold down shift command option (Shift apple alt) as you click the CS3 application in the doc. When the delete settings file appears click OK. This will rebuild your preferences including your font cache for that app.
Then check you fonts and post back.
I'm curious that they're not showing up anywhere except font book but we'll start with CS3 and see where we get to.

I am trying to set up Sharing amongst several computers on my home network. I have followed all the setup instructions but after completion Sharing does not appear in my iTunes window (on any of the computers I've set up). There is no explanation why.

I have been trying to set up Sharing between two computers on my network. I did this once and it worked. However, when I try to set this up now the Sharing feature does not appear on the left side of the iTunes window (on either computer). There is no explanation as to why not. Is this a configuration problem, a network problem or what? Can it be fixed? I have tried turning sharing off and back on on both computers but to no avail. What am I missing? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Thanks for the question, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.
If, while searching through your past purchases, items are unavailable to download and show a "Purchased" button, they are still on your computer. It may be best to search your iTunes library by clicking Music, then use the search bar at the top right.
If you are completely sure the items are no longer in your library, try signing out of the iTunes Store, and then back in.

Downloaded gill sans font will not appear in indesign.

I found this link to the downloadable font (Gill Sans) on this blog:

I scanned for viruss and nothing came up so downloaded it fine. I copy and pasted the fonts where the rest of my fonts were in:
windows – fonts.
I also tryed copy and pasting the font in:
In design – fonts
however that was the only that font shown there.
Is there something Ive missed, when I open indesign I cannot find the fonts.
It says they are a truetype font file.
CS3 adobe suite windows vista
Any suggestions?

ok I didn't realize it was pirated. Is it just some fonts are not ok to download?
Ive never heard ok windows installer, is on all computers or do I have to download it?
I thought copy and pasting would work?
I was thinking I might have got a mac font which is why it wasn't working.

Font Knockout not appearing in Photoshop CS5 on IMac SnowLeop

Hello all,
I am new to posting here and would really appreciate any help or advice anyone could give.
Recently our Design department upgraded to IMacs and to the Snow Leopard OS. We also bought an Adobe creative Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. We have specific fonts we have to use for our publications, Knockout is one in particular. Of the 8 new machines we received and loaded our fonts on to, 2 machines are having the Knockout font family not be available in the font choices in Photoshop CS4, CS5 and Illustrator CS4 and CS5. We received a Adobe suite and use InDesign CS4 and CS5 daily and have no problem using the same Knockout font family with this program.
On all of the machines we loaded the fonts to the following path. Users>User Name> Library> Fonts. So that the fonts would be the same for each user.
We also had to create and alias to place in the Adobe Indesign Fonts folder so that InDesign would use our necessary design fonts. This we read from the Adobe Help and it has.
The Knockout Font Family we use is a PostScript Type 1 outline. KnockHTF26JunFly for example.
We have tried to use the same technique of placing an alias in each programs application folder to no avail, and have tried to search online for any solutions possible. We use FontBook as our font manager which show no conflicts with the Knockout font family with any fonts elsewhere and we are quite stumped why the other fonts we use from the same path work fine and the other 6 IMacs have no issues with the programs not having Knockout available.

It would have been easier to put things in the Library->Fonts folder, but it should work where you put it. Can you see the fonts using Font Book? Can you see the fonts using TextEdit?
