After Replacement cmos battery R40

Good morning, i have i Thinkpad R40 to repair. He has a problem with date and time.
I replace the cmos battery with ref  panasonic cr2032 lithium battery ibm p/n 02k6541 fru p/n 02k6572.
The battery is good, I replace the cmos battery  but the problem is still the same.
The computer don't keep date and time.
Thankyou for help

richk read my mind, I know I've seen a post about exactly that point somewhere, but can't find it.
The correct FRU for the CMOS battery is 92P0991.  If suspicions are correct the one you have fitted is for quite a lot of ThinkPad models, but the R40 had the same battery with reversed polarity.

After replacing my battery with a long life battery and powering up the phone, I was directed to plug into iTunes where a download began and then stopped, returning me to the screen instructing me to plug into iTunes again.  I cannot get past this point.  I even tried reinstalling the original battery but still have the same problem.  How can I resolve?

  • Which replacement CMOS battery do I buy for my HP G6 Series?

I need to replace my CMOS battery. My laptop is a HP G6. When I search the product number it comes up as a G6-1b60us. The only new CMOS replacement batteries I see listed on eBay are for HP G6-2000. Will that CMOS battery work for my HP?  I see listed ones that are for HP G6-1000, but they are all used. Is that the one I have to buy? Thank you very much.

Hi, Part number is : 449137-001 as shown on page  49 of the second manual on the following link:     http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Pavilion-g6-Notebook-PC-series/5082228/model/5128909/manuals/ You can buy from HP or:    http://www.amazon.com/HP-449137-001-Battery-real-time-clock/product-reviews/B002GPKBRO (Actually it is a CR2032 battery). Regards.

    Hi
Im afraid the RTC battery is soldered to the motherboard. Dont think you could remove it easily.
What you can do is to charge the battery.
In order to charge the RTC battery successfully, the main battery and AC adaptor have to be connected to the notebook. Additionally the notebook has to be powered ON for about 18-20 hours.
By the way: its a NiMH RTC battery supports 3V output voltage and 14mAh capacity

  • How to replace CMOS battery on Satellite A30-504?

i have big problems with my satellite A30-504...it does'nt see the HDD on boot, my only solution so far was to press the power button for many times.
My HDD is ok so i think the problem is with the cmos battery but i dont know how to find out what type it is and how to replace it.
(ps. sorry my english, i'm not an english speaker)

    Hi Adrian
CMOS battery is always placed an awkward position and to exchange the battery the unit must be disassembled. If you didnt done this before please dont do this alone. A small mistake and you can damage plastic cover of the unit.
I recommend you to contact service and let them do this for you. It costs a little bit but you will be sure it will be done on professional way. When the unit is disassembled it can also be cleaned from the dust.
Back to HDD: how you know HDD is not defective?

  • After replacing new battery on iphone 5 it wont come on and vibrates when i plug in usb

After replacing my iphone 5 battery and checking connections several times my phone wont boot up. Its connecting to my computer no probs just no display. I tried to do a soft restart and restore it but got nowhere. I've checked there was no damage to any connecters and they are all fine and then gently blew it with compressed air to no avail. I tried putting my old battery in and its the same thing. If I try charge it it vibrates twice every 5 seconds. That's the only thing it will do. Any help would be appreciated
    Cheers

  • Monito stopped working when i replaced cmos battery

on an older computer i was asked to fix i  entered BIOS and while trying to change the boot order i deleted the hard drive from the boot options completely and couldnt get it back. So in an attempt to fix that i took out the cmos battery and put it back in. the monitor now  has a check signal cable message up whenever i turn the computer on.....ive tried different monitors and cables resulting in the same thing.

    Smo1898, welcome to the forum.
When requesting help you should always include the make/model of the computer and/or monitor. This information is necessary for us to review the specifications of them.
This is a strange problem.  I can't imagine what removing and replacing the CMOS battery would have to do with the monitor losing its signal.  Have you tried reinstalling the driver for the monitor?

I have a Satellite M35X-S349 laptop and it appears the CMOS battery is dead.  When activating the power switch, the hard drive attempts to load but then stops.  The BIOS will not load, which makes me think that the CMOS battery is dead.  I need a service manual or someone to tell me how to get to the CMOS battery.  Any info will be appreciated.

  • Replacing CMOS battery on T21 notebook-anything that I should know?

    Hi all.
New to this forum so I hope I do things as expected
I must admit that I am finding it harder to find relevant material on this site as opposed to when it was the IBM site. I guess that the dating of my T21 does not help either.
My poor old T21 needs to have the backup battery (CMOS) replaced but before I do that is there anything that I need to be aware of, like precautions to take before I unplug it and/or anything that I need to do after I plug the new battery in?
    Any advice appreciated.
    Regards Janset

    Hi there tfflivemb2
Thanks for your reply. As it was it was not too late, I only received my new battery from the US today (ex eBay)
And you are right, that small screw driver is a definate must for the installation. IBM really did not think it through when they engineered the installation of the backup battery did they?
If they go to all that bother to make a capture device to hold the backup battery, why did they not incorporate the connector into that same capture device so as to facilitate things?
Anyway it is now done (after about 20 minutes of fiddling about) by this geriatric.
    Regards

  • Palm T/X will still not turn on after replacing bad battery! Help!

Have had this Palm T/X since December '07 and when it was working I had absolutely no problems or issues.  One day at work, I noticed that it felt unusually hot in my pocket and found that it had been switched on accidently and who knows how long it had been running.  I had to hit reset to get it to respond and turn off.   Got home to recharge it and it has never turned on since.  That was about 8 months ago.
I took it in to a reputable dealer and had the battery changed.  The tech related to me that the old battery was shorted out and non functional.  Unfortunetly even with the new battery and sitting on the charger for hours it is not responding to the power switch nor to any attempt at a hard or soft reset.  What can cause this?  Is my T/X dead forever?  Now this was a gift so I'm not afraid to invest in some replacement parts, I just need to appeal to those more knowledgable to brainstorm some other potential injuries!  Thank you in advance for your time and suggestions!
    Post relates to: Palm TX

I would suggest you talk with the reputable dealer about the problem - it sounds like the problem lay deeper than just the battery!
From this side of the computer screen, we have no way of telling what went wrong!
Water damage, physical damage from being dropped/flexed, plugged into a higher voltage than recommended, we just can't guess, sorry!

  • Combo Drive quit after replacing PMU/Battery board

    Hi-
My Pismo (firewire, 400mhz) has a combo drive which barely worked, but worked up until
I had to replace the PMU/Battery logic board. Now it won't recognize a cd or dvd, period.
Up to now, it made a lot of noise but it would load a cd and eventually play it. I wonder if I have to
re-install software for this, or if maybe it was just time for it to finally die. (I reset the PRAM
    and the PMU; I tried Disk Permissions; it's listed but no fixes are made available (all the options are in light grey and cannot be selected). I have the 10.3.9 install disk, and a system restore disk;
they don't play.. however i have not tried to reboot from them.
If I do try booting from a system restore or system install disk, will I lose any and all stuff I have now (music, etc).. or will it just update and repair the system?
    thanks in advance
    sr
ps in my system profiler I see the combo drive is listed twice. It wasn't before.

    Here's how I revived my Pismo's failed disc drive. http://macosx.com/forums/howto-faqs/290895-how-resurrect-failed-laptop-disc-driv e.html

  • My Mac has been randomly shutting off. Apple recently replaced my battery, and then performed several diagnostics tests on it. After replacing the battery, they said that everything passed.

I evaluated the internal temp (using Istats pro) and it is at 86.5 degrees feh (about 22 c*). Is that normal? What tools can I utilize to ensure that the internal system prevents from overheating. I have the Mac running on a cooling fan.

A.) I accidentally hit the solve problem when responding to your comment... Is there a way I can undo that?
AS Ralph indicated, the system does not allow for that.
B.) I will post the Istats screen when I get home from work.
My concern is that the temperature you reported is abnormally low.  Thus I would like to see an image of the temperature monitor.  In sounds more like Centigrade.
Also post an image of Activity Monitor showing ALL PROCESSES and % CPU displaying values from high to low.  This way we can determine if  the temperature readings reflect the activity being performed on the MBP.
    Ciao.

  • CMOS battery replacement

I currently have my Qosmio x500-895S completely disassembled, waiting for new replacement fans.  Since I have it apart, I am considering replacing the CMOS battery.
Does anybody have any suggestions and/or directions for it's replacement?  I hear it may affect my BIOS settings.
Does my computer have a saved copy of the current BIOS settings that I can reload back to?

    Hello @okomanuel ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you have questions about the CMOS battery for your G62 notebook.
Not having a CMOS battery in the notebook will not stop it from booting or displaying a POST screen. The battery only stores changes to the default BIOS configuration.
Are you able to view the POST screen when turning on the notebook, or is it completely blank? Have you tried an external monitor? Can you hear the HDD spinning when turning on the notebook?
If you can hear the HDD spin or see the HDD light blinking it would indicate the drive is recognized by the motherboard and CMOS should not have a factor in why you cannot boot. If the drive does not spin or blink the BIOS default settings may not apply to your current configuration and could explain why it is not working.
If you want to order a replacement CMOS battery you can order it with the following part number: 606015-001
    Hopefully this helps!
