  • Keep changing root password, keeps telling me password is wrong in terminal.

I used the migration tool to copy my documents over from my PC, but it created a separate user account. I want to move those files to my current account, but I don't have permission to access the folder unless I'm logged into that account (in which case I don't have access to the folder I want to move them to). I tried to change the folder permissions, but it said my root user password was incorrect. I changed it, got no error in doing so, and tried again. Still got the error. I found a thread with a similar problem (but not the same one) and followed the instructions in it. Still got the same error. How can I fix this?

In the title of this thread you list "keeps telling me password is wrong in terminal"???
When you open terminal have you tried the command, without the quotes "dsenableroot"?  You must be logged in as a local admin to do this.
If you try this, terminal will ask you for your admin account password then you can enter a new password for root and verify the new password.  Exit terminal Log out and log  back in with username root and the password you put in for the root account when you were in terminal.
There is a definite problem, or actually a couple of problems, with the directory utility when trying to enable root from directory Utility / edit.   Going the dsenableroot in terminal clears these problems out.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    To restore from backup see:

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

  • TS2972 My apple tv keeps telling me that my apple id can't be found or my password was incorrect.  I am positive it is correct! Why doesn't it recognize my password?

My Apple TV keeps telling me that I need to enable home sharing which I have done before.  However when I try to do that it says that I need to enter my Apple ID and password.  Now it won't recognize my password either.  It gives me a message saying the password can't be found or that the password is incorrect.  I know it is correct.  But I actually went online and changed it just to get things up and running again.  I STILL get the same message!  Any suggestions?

Yes it is.  I have restored the settings twice and each time it gets stuck when it is setting the time and date. Once I set it manually I proceed to set up the home sharing but each time I put the id and password it says it can't be found or wrong password.

  • Apple tv keeps telling me my credit card has expired but clearly i downloaded a song on my mac book on i tunes just after i got that message

apple tv keeps telling me my credit card has expired but clearly i downloaded a song on my mac book on i tunes just after i got that message

The reason, I included the annotation that I'd upgraded my Itunes, (On my Computer) is B/C in many forums - the very first question, *HELPERS* ask, is. "Do you have the latest version of Itunes downloaded on your computer." I wanted to knock out any obvious replies.
Now-  "DO YOU have any idea,"... how your UNHELPFUL remarks, do absolutely nothing but hurt others that might not have the EXPERIENCE you have? How do you expect people to know things without asking questions? Whew! RUDE!!

  • HT201272 My apple tv keeps telling me to go into itunes to change the Resolutions for a quicker download---how do I do this ?

My apple TV keeps telling me to go to itunes to change the resolutions for quicker download---how do I do this after I have gone into itunes---where to next?

It will say restoring apple tv but the progress bar will not move at all. I have left it running for six hours with no change. I get a 1602 error device not found after I unplug it to start over. My iTunes recognizes the device and tries to update it, but the same thing happens again.

  • Apple update keeps telling me I need Bonjour installed but, fails to install. when I Download and install manually I get the massage that I already have a later version. How do I get apple to recognize its already there?

Apple update keeps telling me new software is available "Bonjour for Windows 1.0.6" When I try to install it, it fails. When I manually download and install I get the message I already have a later version. How do I get apple to recognize it's already there?

When I manually download and install I get the message I already have a later version.
Doublechecking before proceeding. Do you also get that message if you try to install the most recent version of Bonjour?
(There's a few different possibilities afoot relating to damaged installation configuration information for Bonjour on the PC here ... fingers crossed, the answer to my question will help narrow down the possibilities.)

Every time i put in my apple user name and password its telling me it's incorrect. can someone help me

Yep, as Michael mentioned, iTunes is accessing the internet matching the total bytes of the CD to the data base. Happens to me when I burn a disk in Roxio Toast 7, then mount it to listen to the recording in iTunes. Some of the strangest names appear.
At first I couldn't imagine where these exotic names were coming from until I realized the app. was accessing the Gracenote CDDB (CD database). Unfortunately, you cannot deselect this process within iTunes. As Michael suggested disconnect your machine from the Internet before inserting the CD.

  • I can't purchase from store as drp down box asking for my password keeps reappearing. Password is not wrong.

I am having the same problem...I have changed my password twice...all my apple devices accept the new password except iTunes...the drop down keeps asking for my password.

  • Apple TV keeps telling me there is a problem with my apple ID and password when I try to connect to home sharing. I have checked and rechecked and re-entered several times with same message.

I just bought an Apple TV and am trying to set it up. I am connected to wireless, is having difficulties setting time and date. When I try to connect to iTunes and sharing. It keeps telling me that there is a problem with my apple ID and password. I have quadruple checked and re-entered and it won't recognise it. What do I do? Dan.

Sounds like it is more an issue of connecting to the internet. Not just the WiFi Some people have reported that performing a power cycle on their Internet router solved this.

  • Can't get iMessage to activate after resetting my Apple ID password.

After having trouble signing into iMessage on Mountain Lion on my Mac Mini, it was suggested to reset my Apple ID password. After doing that, I re-entered my password everywhere on my iPhone. But now, my iMessage and Facetime on the phone won't activate. It stays on "Waiting for Activation" for about half a day and then says that activation was not successful.
I went through all the other related threads, and check Settings > Phone to make sure my number is showing, I fiddled with the Date and Time settings. I even updated to iOS 6.0.1. Nothing seems to work, and I genuinely don't want to reset my phone. Is there any way to resolve this issue?

I deactivated iMessage on my mac completely and retried and still have the same problem. I then decided to place the phone in DFU mode and restore iOS 6.0.1 from the IPSW. After restoring from iCloud, iMessage is still stuck on "Waiting for Activation"
I did find something interesting though. I opened Xcode > Organizer and viewed the phone's console. When switching iMessage on, the following is displayed in the log:
accountsd[103] <Notice>: 2012-12-04 00:26:14.404 accountsd[4871]: imagent (43) is trying to verify account credentials for account: (null)
