After restore from 3 different media, all I get is "please install an operating system."

The hard drive quit in my stepson's notebook. I bought a new one, installed it. I've tried to re-install Windows 8 from the USB stick he created when he got it. Didn't work. I tried from another USB stick restore image from an identical model, didn't work. I PAID for the DVD recovery set from HP... didn't work. I tried a Win 10 DVD... didn't work. All have the same problem, When the install is "finished", every time I get an error message saying "Please install an operating system" on what should be the first boot up.  After hours and hours of this crap I'm just about ready to throw the **bleep** thing away. There is no reason for this to happen, none. The only thing different is the size of the hard drive, it's 500GB instead of the original 350.  Extremely frustrated and hoping for some insight, Ken

Welcome Blue.
You can clone the drive and change the product key.
You must make sure that they both have the same version of Windows COA's.
After you have the cloned drive booted go to START then COMPUTER then SYSTEM PROPERTIES.
At the bottom of SYSTEM PROPERTIES you will see CHANGE PRODUCT KEY.
Click on it and put the product key in that is on the bottom of that laptop.

after restore from backup, iphone is not getting start, only apple logo is there on screen

    Hi there.
Try some basic trouble shooting steps first, before looking into some advanced issues that might be causing this. The first thing I would try, is holding down the power button and home button at the same time until the screen turns off on you. See what steps you can take from there, if any.
    Kind Regards.

  • After Factory Reset - the dreaded 3F0 message "please install an operating system".

I have seen numerous threads on the 3F0 message relating to missing HDD/OSes but none seem to match mine.
I have an (albeit old) HP Envy 13-1050EA,  I decided to completely refresh it and go back to factory reset state.
The reset completes succesfully, the machine then starts it's setting up the OS (Windows 7 HP).  It reboots a couple of times as expected then suddenly throws the 3F0 message Just after its finished installing drivers.
I have performed the usual HDD tests - the disk is there, all present and correct.  In fact I have tried it with various HDD and get the same results:
I can install an OS from OEM (windows 7 and windows 8) without a problem, but ONLY with the recovery disks do I get the 3F0.  But I would like a factory reset with the original Image that I paid for originally - not just the OS (The Linux front etc)
How do I get the the machine to recognise it has been installing the OS for the past 20 minutes, is HP's recovery faulty in some way?
I have two of these machines - identical spec - if I cloned the drive of the working model is it easy enough to change the Windows 7 License Key - are there any other keys that I'd need to be aware of?
Any help would be gratefully accepted.

After moving from Canada to the US, getting a new iPhone 5C, and restoring my backup from iCloud, I can't update my apps. I get an error message that my account is not valid in the Canadian App store and I must change to the US store. How do I do that?

    Change here:

You must have a verified billing address & be located in the country whose store you are trying to use.

  • After restoring from backup on iCloud, my photos have been "downloading" for 2 days with no progress at all.

After restoring from backup on iCloud, my photos have been "downloading" for 2 days with no progress at all.  Everything else seems to by fine, however. I have all my apps, contacts, even my photostream back, but my camera roll has said "downloading 137 of 1,345" for two days.  I really don't want to have to start over as the whole process took almost 3 hours. Help?

Someone mentioned that syncing with ITunes, making sure that photos are being synced - even with an empty folder, fixed the problem.  I tried it and it didn't work for me.  Anyone got any answers that don't include losing the photos or erasing and restoring from backup again?

It just means some spammer is using your email address as the sender address for their spam. This is very easy to do - anyone can do it simply by changing the From email address in their email program. It does not mean your account was hacked or you have a virus (there are no current Mac viruses on the loose anyway, nor has there been for years).
There's nothing you can do about it. It can happen to anyone and the spammers will move on to using someone else's email address before long.

  • How can I see my messages after restoring from backup?

I have 2.1gb of messages saved in my storage on my 4s but they're not in messages after restoring from backup.
How can I get all my messages back in my message app because I know they're their it's just a matter of getting them restored into the app.

When you restored your phone from an old backup, it wiped ALL data from your phone and replaced it with the data from that backup.  It's like your phone went back in time.
Your data that was on the phone before you did the restore is now gone forever.  There is no way to get these data back.

  • HT1339 after restoring ipod nano how do I get tunes back if they are in my music library

after restoring ipod nano how do I get tunes back if they are in my music librbary- thanks

Configure the music to sync back over to your device from under its Music configuration tab.  If your library is smaller than the capacity available on your Nano, you can set it to sync your entire music library by enabling the Sync Entire Library option from under this tab. Otherwies, you'll have to select only certain artists, albums, playlists, and genres.

Return the phone and get your money back. That phone was hacked and is now permanently damaged.

  • No Camera App after restore from backup on iphone 4

OK so I backedup my iphone 3g which was on 312 on itunes 9.2 before my iphone 4 arrived today. I restored from backup and all of my apps restored. I can't seem to find the camera app! It's driving me crazy that I am trying restore the iphone 4 as a new phone but downloading the iOS4 firmware for iphone 4 is taking more than 3 hours for some reason.
    Has anyone seen this?

Why not? If old data is recovered by restoring, then new data after last back up lose. If keep new data after last back up remain, lost old data can't be regained, even may be user's lack of knowledge, iPhone should not be for the people of one class...I am really sad for all who suffer the lost of their hearts (valuable data that can never be recalled) like me. How can I continue to use idevices?????

  • Where can I find un-recovered photos after restoring from Icloud

Where can I find un-recovered photos after restoring from Icloud?

They would only be stored in your backup.  If they didn't restore properly all you can do is try restoring the backup again.

  • Super drive is not working after Restoring from Time Machine

well its pretty much the Subject actually, my imac giving me BlueScreen problem so i searched and posted question and the only Solution i got was to Re-install Leopard and i did that by using Leopard DVD and Restored my imac from Time Machine backup, But i got into new problem and now the TIME after restoring from the "Time Machine" my DVD ejecting EVERY CD,DVD etc. even the Leopard DVD which he reads happily.
I dont think its a hardware fault at all, but i'm not a "Genious". Any suggestion!

Issue solved with visit to Genius Bar.
As I understand it here are the steps the Genius did. Attempt to create the account (system preferences->users) with the same information. It will say it already exists. Very carefully read the options. One will say use the existing account. BE CAREFUL because one option will wipe your data.
If you need to do this it might be worth the trip to the Genius Bar as you could wipe your data. One precaution I took was to bring a full copy of that user account onto my desktop (from the backup immediately before the wipe) in addition to the one in the user folder. Once we verified that the account was working I moved the desktop copy to the trash and again verified the account (just to be safe).
    Hope this helps someone else.
