After restoring iPad, installing already purchased apps requires re-purchase them. How to avoid re-payment?

DDoes this happen for all apps or just some of them? Some apps always download the lite or free version. Then when you run the app there is a setting to allow you to restore your previous purchase without paying.

I have first iPod touch, but can't after restore can't reinstall some apps I bought because they have been updated in iTunes to newer versions?  I am giving this to my grandchildren and their favorite game Skee-Ball updated and now can't reinstall on iPod touch.

If you still have the apps on the iPod you can delete them from the computer and then transfer the apps from the iPod t the computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
Next would be to look in your computer backups file for a version of the apps that works with the iOS on the iPod.
Otherwise you are out of luck.

working files aare not backed up as far as I know. You must either 1)"copy to itunes", then use itunes to save as... to your desktop machine. Or 2) use iCloud to keep the docs.
I also learned this the hard way. No way i know of to get the working docs back.

Did you purchase them on your iPad with the same Apple ID that you are using for iTunes on your iPhone and that iTunes on your Mac is sign into?

  • Purchased apps/films etc. lost after restoring ipad

I just restored my iPad and all is gone, even purchased items! Can I restore somehow the purchased apps/films/books etc.?

As long as they are still available in the store then apps and ibooks can be re-download for free, music in some countries, TV shows in fewer countries, and films in fewer still : re-downloading. Have you not gpt copies of them on your computer and/or on a backup ? If not, and your aren't in a country where you can re-download films then you can try contacting iTunes support and see if they will grant you a re-download : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Express Lane, then iTunes > iTunes Store

  • Purchased apps requires payment again

    SHORT VERSION:
I purchased apps from the app store
After a restore, I need to pay again for those apps I purchased
    Why?
Last year I bought for apps in the app store using my iPhone, I paid for them - one of them is WhatsApp
also I downloaded some apps that were on promotion (free) such as Verb IM, now it is not free
Last night I restored my phone due to some weird problems and set it up as a new phone
I used my same apple ID as usual (I only have one apple ID anyway) and....
I tried to download apps such as WhatsApp and Verbs IM but they all require payment again.
When I tap on the price, it turns into a BUY button, this means that I need to pay again right??
These two apps above I mentioned are just examples, there are many other apps too
I've used my iPhone since 2010, so I have definitely downloaded a lot of apps, but when I look through the PURCHASED list (under UPDATES), it shows that I have some 20-30 apps only, which is incredibly little !!!
A couple of months ago I was even updating these apps (through the app store) !!!
and there was no errors/problems/request for payment...
I'm unsatisfied as I have paid for these apps, yet they require payment again.

Please ensure that you have not hidden these purchases on your device.

  • "Accept" button says I need to purchase app, but doesn't say how

I purchased a new MacBook Pro in January. I setup accounts for myself (admin), son, and daughter (both Mac OS X users and Apple IDs). Yesterday I noticed from my Apple ID that the App Store said iMovie and iPhoto needed to be updated. I tried updating them, but it said they were purchased from another Apple ID, and I had to upgrade using that Apple ID. I logged into my son's Apple ID, ran App Store, and sure enough he had "Installed" them 4 weeks ago, along with GarageBand. I'm guessing this install was actually an upgrade since they came pre-installed on the machine. However, I'm not sure how this happened. He's downloaded other games, but doesn't recall ever updating anything.
In any case at this point what I want to do is disassociate these apps from my son's Apple ID so I can control their upgrade from my Apple ID. I tried deleting them from the LaunchPad. However, for GarageBand this left it in a state where I need to purchase it for $14.99. For iMovie and iPhoto, when I search for them for purchase, they are displayed with an "Accept" button rather than an "Install" button. When I click on "Accept" I get the following message:
"These apps cannot be accepted by your Apple ID.
These apps were already assigned to another Apple ID, and they will be available in that Apple ID's Purchases list. If you don't have access to that Apple ID and want to receive future updates, you will need to purchase the applications."
Problem is I can't find any way to purchase them from my Apple ID. How do I change the "Accept" button to a "Purchase" button?
BTW, I also tried deleting the apps and restoring from an old Time Zone backup, but still had the same problem. There's some database on the machine that associates these apps with my sons AppleID even though originally the came pre-installed.

Thanks for the info. Seems kind of messed up though. Why would Apple let any random user of a machine control all future upgrades of critical apps. I guess perhaps my admin password was needed at some point, which my son has. Still, seems this is something you should be able to undo.
I'm starting to get a clearer pictures of what's going on. These 3 apps are part of iLife 11 and normally cost $14.95 each. They come pre-installed on new machines, but it looks like at some point you need to associate this "purchase" with an Apple ID, and can only associate it with one Apple ID. Thus they are now irrevocably associated with my son's Apple ID.
However, if I wanted to shell out the money, it seems I should be able to tell this particular mac to forget everthing it knows about the purchase of these apps, and re-purchase them from another Apple ID. Although I doubt I'd do that at this point, if I by a 2nd Mac and properly associated these apps with my Apple ID on this 2nd mac, I should then be able to use this "purchase" to download the apps to the first mac I'm having a problem with. However, currently I can't even see a way to do this. Is there some App Store cache I can trash so App Store no longer knows which apps were installed by which Apple ID?

  • HT1222 i cant download facebook on my ipod touch it says this app requires iOS 4.3. how can i download this please? Many thanks

I am trying to download various apps and games and I get the message "this app requires iOS 4.3".  Please can you tell me if I can get this on my ipod touch ? Many thanks

Unless you have iOS 4.3+ on your iPod (your current version is shown in Settings > General > About > Version) then you won't be able to download and install that app.
You can check if your iPod supports a higher version of iOS than you currently have by connecting it to computer's iTunes and selecting it on the left-hand side of iTunes, and on the Summary tab on the right-hand side clicking the Check For Updates button. If it doesn't find any available updates then I assume that it's an older iPod and that it's on its version, so you won't be able to update it to iOS 4.3+ nor to download that app onto it.
If it does find an available update then before you start the update first copy any purchases off the iPod to your computer via File > Transfer Purchases. You may also want to copy photos and any important documents off it as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case. You can then force a backup of the iPod by right-clicking the iPod 'Device' on the left-hand side of iTunes and selecting 'Backup'.
    Then start the update.

  • Allow download of purchased apps, block new purchases

We have about 15 Ipads we use for a school. We'd like to allow teachers to download apps from the app store under the purchased area, but not be able to buy new apps (even free).
Last week I was able to do this by not entering the credit card security code.  But that didn't seem to last because today I can download free apps on one of the ipads.
We want to get away from having to load all 300+ apps on every ipad by default because to manually manage each one individually would be a full time job.  We'd like the teachers to be able to manage them individually, by being able to load apps from the purchased area in the app store, and another person can be responsible for purchases.
    Thank you!

I would suggest digging into the 'Restrictions' area.  I think the fasted way to achieve what you are trying to do would be to add the restriction that requires a password for purchases.  It is the last option in the 'Allowed Content' area (3rd group from the top).
Restrictions can be found under General -> Restrictions.
If you want more fine control or want to be able to 'refresh' the iPads periodically I would highly recommend looking into the Apple Configurator application.  it isn't the most well documented, but it is fantastic for quickly cleaning and re-setting up devices.
    Cheers

  • When I double click my IPAD screen there are apps at the bottom. How can I remove them?

When I double click my IPAD screen I have apps at the bottom how can I remove them?

If you are running iOS 6 or iOS 5, those apps are the recently used apps in the recents tray. You don't need to remove then from there, but if you want to do so, you have to close them. You do that by holding down on one of the app icons until they all wiggle, then tap the red minus sign to close the app. Do that to every app that you want to close. Tap the home button when you are done.

  • Purchased Apps not on Purchased List

I purchased an app on my work computer and figured I'd just download it once I got home. However, the app I purchased is only on my work computer, and I can't sync there or else I'll lose everything (except that one app). I checked my Purchased list in iTunes, and there's only music in there. Why can't I access my purchased apps from anywhere I log into iTunes? Does that mean I can ONLY purchase apps on my iphone or at home?

Sounds like it from this article:
    support.apple.com/kb/HT1977
+If you normally sync applications to your device from one computer and then connect it to iTunes on another computer, iTunes will not attempt to sync applications from that library. Applications can only be synced from one iTunes library. If you are connected your iPhone or iPod touch to an iTunes library that you don't normally sync with, you can still transfer purchased applications from the device by choosing File > Transfer Purchases in iTunes.+
But since I don't have an iPhone, you might have better luck finding tricks on that in the iPhone forums.

  • HT4527 My iPod only transferred my purchased apps, not my purchased music.  Help?

I've tried to transfer my music purchases from my iPod to my new computer, using the "device>transfer purchases" option but it only transfered my app purchases, not my actual purchased music.  Any ideas?

    Hi SilyKim,
You can also download your purchased items again from the iTunes Store directly into iTunes on your computer:

Have you tried deleting the songs from Settings?
Settings -> General -> Usage -> Manage Storage (not the iCloud link!) -> Music and then click Edit to enable you to be able to delete.
