After saving an edited photo in Elements

When I later look at C dirve/My Pictures, all of the thumbnails are the Adobe logo instead of the edited photo. Am I missing a step that would make the thumbnails the updated photo?

Hi,
There isn't a plugin for Windows 7 so that it can display an icon for a .psd file which is why you see the pse icon. This is another reason to use the organizer to manage your images.
When you used "Save As"  did you select the format from the dropdown list?
I tend to leave off the extension when typing in the name a just let PSE fill it in.

  • How do I send edited photos from Elements 12 to Costco for printing?

New user and have checked all trainng info....   How do I send edited photos from Elements 12 to Costco for printing?  Only Shutterfly is offered as option.  Or how can I export to "my pictures" or thumb drive?

If you don't have the special costco edition (in which case you should see costco as an option for ordering prints), if the photos are in the organizer, use File>Export as New File(s) to send them to your thumb drive, if that's what you want to do, or export them to a folder on your desktop, go to the costco website and point their software to that folder for uploading. If you don't use organizer, just save the files to a folder on your desktop and do the same.

  • IPhoto 6.0.4 crashing after editing photo in Elements 3.0

After I edit a photo in Elements 3.0 (double-click to edit, make changes, save as JPEG, max quality, close) and click back to iPhoto, iPhoto crashes suddenly (no error message). Thereafter, I cannot view the photo I edited in full screen mode, nor can I view the photo adjacent to it in the roll. The link to the full-size photo, as opposed to the thumbnail, appears to be corrupt. Opening iPhoto while holding down shift+option doesn't help.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
    double-click to edi
I'm assuming you've setup iPhoto to use Photoshop Elements when you double click on a thumbnail, right?
Try downloading and running BatChmod on the iPhoto Library folder with the settings shown here, substituting your account name for mine. You can either type in the path to the folder or just drag the folder into that field. See if that will help.
If not create a new library, import a couple of photos and try editing with PSE as you do in the other library. If that one crashes then it's either an iPhoto problem or a system wide problem. If it doesn't crash, try rebuilding the library by launching iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and following the instructions to rebuild the library. Select all the options.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

  • Can't edit photo in Elements 8.0 in CS5

I recently bought a new computer with Windows 7. My old computer had Windows XP. I have Elements 8.0 and CS5 installed on both computers. On my old computer, in the Organizer, I was able to click on Edit, then click on Edit with Photoshop (in the drop-down menu), and the photo could then be edited in CS5. On my new computer, either nothing happens when I click on Edit with Photoshop or I get the spinning circle and then nothing happens. I want to continue to be able to edit my photos in CS5, then save the edited photos in version stacks in Elements. This worked perfectly in my old computer. I am using the exact same Elements 8.0 and CS5 in the new one. Can anyone help me???

Is the only problem you're having that a file won't open in Photoshop CS5 when you double-click a file, or choose Open WIth Photoshop CS5?  If so, you wouldn't be the first person to have this problem.  There is a way to reset the defaults for opening files via Bridge.
Which application (CS5 or Elements 8) did you install first / last?
I ask, because each of the two editors pretty much assumes it's the one you really want to use to edit photos, and whichever one you installed last would set things like "file open" defaults to point to itself.
And no, probably not a lot of people use both Photoshop CS5 and Photoshop Elements, so I doubt you'll get a lot of responses based on others' personal experience with these two together.

  • In LR 5, "edit photo in Elements" makes PSD & launches Elements but photo doesn't open in Elements

Preferences are set w/ PSCC as first external editor and Elements 10 as second.
Elements 10 is set up for PSD file, 16-bit etc. as recommended by Adobe Help.
    Repro:
    Select photo in LR
    Open Develop module
    Select Photo/Edit in ... Elements
    LR makes PSD
    Elements launches
No photo in Elements (does not open with photo, project bin is empty)
Expected: PSD from LR to open in Elements

Under the "Additional Enternal Editor" / Application you are probably pointing to "Adobe Photoshop Elements" instead of "Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor"   See here for more info

  • I have a problem saving an edited photo

After editing a photo it won't save in photoshop but does save it on the hard drive. Anyone know why?

When I am working in photoshop elements (4), I edit a photo, tell it to save (I check the boxes save in version set and include in the organizer) and when it finishes saving the changes it doesn't show the edited version.  When I pull up the pictures on the hard drive, the changes are there but they aren't showing up in photoshop.  I have done thousands of pictures the same way and they have always come up edited in photoshop and all of a sudden it doesn't work.

  • Saving an edit in Photoshop Elements 11

I have edited an image in Elements 11, but I can't save it. When I 'save as' it saves the photoshop desktop and not the image.
I am obviously doing something pretty stupid, but what? Can anyone tell me how to save my edited version of the pic I have been working on?
    Thanks

    Good day!

  • Saving an edited photo - bug?

Ive created an album, copied in some photos from photostream and now I'm editing them. Some of the photos allow me to just save over the current photo whereas other photos require me to save as a new photo in my camera roll... Is this a bug? I cannot seem to find a rule as to what works.

Yes, the photo does display when I double click the hour glass.  I can delete that hour glass (the edited version) but the initial photo also displays an hour glass.  Double clicking on that also displays the actual photo.
I hope there’s a fix for my problem.  Thanks.

  • Why does Pages stop responding after trying to edit photos in documents?

Whenever I open a document in Pages 11', and try to edit the photos in it. Pages hangs and will not respond again.

Well that will happen with beta software.
btw How did you manage to get hold of a copy and does it have any major improvements on the current Pages '09?

  • Saving edited photos in Iphoto

I´ve tried the "save" option after changing the settings for PS but Iphoto still wont show me the edited photos. They are there- but in som different place- and the edited photos wont show in Iphoto events. Where are the photos? And why wont they show in Iphoto? I have made sure they are jpg and all and made PS the choice for my Mac when I want to edit a photo. Still, when I return to Iphoto after saving- the original photo is still there and the edited one ( with a new name though... - mayby thats why?) is stuck in another place. What am I doing wrong here?

    Maybe this will help:
    Photoshop in iPhoto
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 6 the Saving File preferences should be configured: "On First Save: Save Over Current File". Also I suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.
NOTE: If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds.

  • Saving files in .jpeg - Photoshop Elements 10

I suddenly got problems with saving files in .jpeg format. I use camera raw in my camera, and edit photos in Element, and then save a .jpeg version of the photo, and until recently that operation has went on without problems, but suddenly I got no other alternatives than .psd. Why?

    Hi,
Most likely reason is that the image is in 16 bit format not 8 bit - a JPG can only support 8 bit formats.
Try changing the mode: Image -> Mode -> 8 bits/channel
If you use RAW images, you can set the colour depth when yo first open the image (see center of window at the bottom).

  • Edited photo doesn't save to PC (iOS 8)

(iOS 8, iPhone 6) When I use the iPhone Photos app to edit a photo to, for example, remove red-eye and/or use the magic wand tool, then click "Done," it says it saves. I can go back into edit mode with that photo later and it always gives me the option to "Revert" to the original, so it obviously doesn't save the edited photo as a separate image. The problem is, when I transfer an edited photo to my computer (via Lightning cable) it saves the original, unedited photo on the computer. Is this a bug or is it intentionally not saving the edited photo?
Whenever I edit a photo and connect my iPhone to my Windows computer, there is a local disk icon(s) in the DCIM folder along with the original photo(s). Meaning, if I edit three photos, there will also be three local disk icons in there as well. If I revert a photo to its original state, the corresponding local disk icon disappears from the Windows Explorer window.

LR 4.4 uses a large internal colorspace which is ProPhotoRGB with an sRGB gamma curve, so you might want to set your PS RGB workspace to ProPhotoRGB and see if that makes any difference.
What is the nature of the difference you’re seeing between the LR version and the PS-CS6-reimported version?  Can we see a screenshot?
Did things used to work ok and this just started happening or have you just started using LR and/or CS6?
