After Service, Airport card stops working randomly on macbook pro 17" early 2009
Hi,
So after the last time my computer was serviced, the airport card stops working randomly on moving the screen.
Upons restarting the computer, it sometimes says wi-fi hardware not installed. Then, if I move my machine around,
lift it up, turn it around, place it back on the table and restart it, it works again. I don't understand this.
And all this started happening the moment my warranty ran out. Extremely frustrating!!
It may be possible that one of the following may be the issue:
The internal AirPort Extreme card is not seated properly.
The internal Wi-Fi antenna connector is not seated properly in the AirPort Extreme card.
The internal AirPort Extreme card's connector is faulty or damaged.
The internal AirPort Extreme card is faulty.
To get an idea on how the Extreme card is installed, please check out the following iFixit article.

After Software Update 2007-004 airport card stopped working after wakeup
Hi,
I have a powerbook G4 - DVI running 10.3.9. After I have installed Software Update 2007-003, when my computer goes to sleep and then wakes up, airport card stops working. I had to open the back of the computer, unplug and plug the airport card, then it starts working again. But next time the computer goes to sleep, it stops working again.
Does anyone have a similar problem? Any work arounds?
Thanks in advance.
Also following is the logs from Software Update. Looks suspicious:

HP Pavilion external monitor has stopped working with my Macbook Pro (Mid 2012) with OSX 10.8.3. When I purchased the monitor a few weeks ago it worked perfectly when computer was in clamshell mode or with lid open. Now external display has stopped working. When I turn on display it scans for signal but does not find it and then immediately goes into sleep mode. I am using a DVI connection with the adapter for the mini display plug. REALLY FRUSTRATING. Any help would be extremely appreciated.
Hi lancekatigbak,
If you're having issues with the display out on your MacBook Pro, you may want to take a look at the troubleshooting steps in the following article:

Why has my USB Superdrive suddenly stopped working with my MacBook Pro?
Why has my Apple USB SuperDrive suddenly stopped working with my MacBook Pro?
Normally I plug it in and insert a CD or DVD and it is immediately recognised, but today it took the DVD, made a 'whirring' noise for a few seconds and then stopped without being recognised.Try the options on this list:

Help! My Facetime and iMessage just totally stopped working on my MacBook Pro - my wifi is still connected and all other apps/internet are working fine. What happened??
Associate your mobile number with your Apple ID, if you haven't already done so.
Sign out of iMessage on the Mac:
Messages ▹ Preferences ▹ Accounts ▹ Sign out
and on the iPhone:
Settings ▹ Messages ▹ Send & Receive ▹ Apple ID ▹ Sign out
Then, on the phone, tap
Use Your Apple ID for iMessage
Sign back into iMessage on both devices and test. If there's no change, you may have to wait for a change in network conditions.

The dash key has stopped working on my macbook pro
help!!the dash key has stopped working on my macbook pro mid 2010 and its amazing how much i need to use it has anyone else had this problem with keys and would they be able to fix it at the genius bar at my apple store
Well if you took it completely apart and couldn't get it to work by operating the silicone "cone" then the trace or contactor must be corroded or discontinuous. The only repair is to replace the keyboard. Sorry.

I have 10.8.2 running on my macbook pro retina 15' and suddenly microsoft office wont work on it and i have no clue as to what it is. can someone pleaseshed some light onto what the issue could be?
I have the exact same problem. I started having the problem with MS Office 2008 after I installed a new harddrive in my imac (24-inch, Early 2009), OS X 10.8.4. Everything was working fine and then when I try to open any Office app, the icon bounces in the dock, and nothing happens.
I as searched for solutions, the obvious fix was to uninstall office (even all of the excess system files it leaves even after an uninstall). When I a re-install Office 2008, it works for about 1 week and then it stops working again.
Next I thought to try the new version of Office (Office 2011), so I did the trial download, and sure enough got the same problem. After about 2 weeks, it stopped responding. I have talked to MS support about this problem, and their suggestion was to uninstall and then reinstall, which I am becoming an expert at.
I am also having an issue with Apple Mail and contacts becoming disconnected. When created a new mail, typing in the receiptant does not pull up their email address even though it is in my address book. The fix for this, which I do even other day is to delete a system folder in Library/Containers/com.apple.mail. I do that, and it works for a few days.
Any suggestions would be great. -
USB ports stopped working in my Macbook Pro
USB ports stopped working in my Macbook Pro
I do not know anything about audio consoles nor do I have an iPhone.
My iPod also does not show on the desktop but it is recognized in iTunes, Check if that is the case for your MBP.
Do you have the appropriate boxes checked in Finder Preferences?
See if this support article is of any assistance:
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1410
If you have an external HDD, connect it to your MBP and see if it is recognized. If it does not show on the desktop, check Disk Utility.
Have you tried all USB ports? It could be that the problem lies in your MBP.

Broken airport card and hard drive on MacBook Pro and can't go to recovery with LAN.
Hi.
My MacBook Pro 13" (early-2011)'s hard drive has broken, and I bought a Kingston 120GB SSDNow instead.
Earlier, the airport card and cable has been broken too.
Are there other ways I can use LAN to recover my mac? It wants me to use wifi, but the airport card is broken...
If so, why does it only want to use Wifi instead of LAN?
LAN is like the extra parachute just in case, or the extra octopus regulator in scuba diving. Is your model on the list? Did you ever upgrade its firmware? If not, then all you can do is start by booting from your Snow Leopard DVD and installing Snow Leopard on your SSD. Be sure to first partition and format the SSD for use with OS X. Once you install Snow Leopard you can download and install the firmware update for future needs.

IMessage has randomly stopped working on my Macbook Pro, what can I do?
My iMessage on my macbook pro has stopped working. I can log in just fine and I have logged out and back in but still cannot send or receive messages. It worked just fine at my house and last year at college but for whatever reason it has stopped working now. What can I do to fix this?
I keep everything up to date and currently have no updates ready at this time.
I also cannot currently FaceTime from my computer either, but both of these work just fine on my iPhone 5 which is connected to the same wifi.Right now the best thing to do is be patient. The last six days many people have been reporting problems with FaceTime. The source of the problems remains unknown.

ISight stopped working on my macbook pro
Over the past couple of days my iSight has been randomly stopped working. I will be on iChat and all of the video icons will turn into phone icons as if I do not have a webcam. I check iChat and it says "There is no camera attached to this computer." I open photo booth and nothing will show up.
The problem was off and on for awhile but now it just has stopped working entirely... I've restarted my macbook and it doesn't change anything.
I really don't know what to do... Please help!Hello Professor Tim
... MODERATOR PLEASE HELP!!
What help do you need from a Moderator? (Apple currently calls them Hosts.)
If you can tell me what you need a Host to do, I can pass them a message.
Shouldn't need a Service Center call....
As another long time Mac user, I can offer you some other suggestions that may help you resolve your problem without a trip to an Apple Service Technician.
Because you are having problems with multiple (but not all) applications, I agree that your problem is software. All Apple video capable apps use components from QuickTime in addition the software in the application proper. If reinstalling the two apps that do not work does not resolve your problem, try reinstalling QuickTime, too.
If none of those reinstalls help, some of your other OS X system software may be damaged. How I eliminate that possibility and restore proper function is shown in this post:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=9458954
If you have a Time Machine Backup, restoring your system software and problem applications from before your problem began may be the quickest and simplest way to repair the software component that is causing your current symptoms. (Remember to backup important files separately before you begin restoring software.)
If you do not use Time Machine, or if your Time Machine restore does not provide lasting resolution, you can always try a proper Combo Update reinstall, A&I, and Erase&Install as suggested in the link above.
You can try Apple's suggestions from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090 at each stage or your restore effort to determine which action corrects your problem.
We will watch for your response. Hopefully, you can report a fix!
Cheers,
EZ Jim

Airport Card Not Installed Error on Macbook Pro 13
I've a Macbook Pro 13 less than 1year old. 3 days ago, I attempted to update my iPod Touch 3G from 3.1.2 to 4.2.1. While in the process, my iPod froze and I forced quitted iTunes.
On the next boot, Airport was off. And no matter what I did, it didn't turn on. I fixed this with a reinstall of the OS. Yesterday night, I turned off Airport to save power. Today morning onwards, I see the warning "Airport Card not Installed".
What could be the problem? No idea, but here is a thread on this very subject and many suggestions which have worked for some people:

Volume stopped working on my macbook pro
sound stopped working yesterday on my macbook pro, Does not work with head phones either. Is it the sound card?
Some things to try:
Go to System Preferences/Sound/output and check if if you can select built in. Make sure volume is up, and mute is not checked
Try taking a set of headphones and plugging them in and out several times (there is a micro switch that sometimes gets stuck)
Go to applications/utilites/Audio MIDI set up check and see if built in is selected, if possible try to select it, make sure volume is up and mute is not checked.
Try a NVRAM/PRAM reset:
Power off, power back on holding OPTION + COMMAND + P + R keys
Hold until you hear the start chime 2 times, then release, reboot -
Hi
So keys 1,2,3,4 stopped working. All other keys are working fine. I tried doing some troubleshooting myself but none worked. As far as I can see the keys do not light up on the on screen keyboard when pressed. Do you know of any troubleshooting I can try to fix this problem.
Please note there was no spillage or any abuse to the keys what so ever. The keys just decided to stop on their own. Any help is appreciated.
ThanksOne or more keys on the keyboard do not respond
