After 'Slide to Unlock', my touch 4g stalls since IOS 5

Since updating to IOS 5. When I 'slide to unlock'  while holding the touch horizontal, the touch stalls for a few seconds before coming alive. It sometimes does the same when held vertical.
For example :  Listening to music, the display shuts down after a minute - I then access the touch by pressing the front button and sliding  the screen slider.  In IOS 4 the touch turns on straight away. In IOS 5 there is a two second delay.
Anyone else suffering from this ?

The Basic Troubleshooting Steps are:
Restart..  Reset..  Restore from Backup..  Restore as New...
Restarting your device
1)   Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.
2)   Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Follow these steps to reset your device
Note: Reset your device only if it is no longer responding and the steps above do not work.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • Flickers "after" slide to unlock

My phone used to flicker a bit right "after" I slide to unlock the screen and it did not always happen, but it only happened occationally. I don't know how many of you have noticed this issue. A few days ago while reading another forum, I saw a post that someone have found that this only happens when you don't have the same picture set for your home screen and the lock screen. So I set them as the same picture immediately and haven't had a flicker since then. Anyways, just thought I would share the information here so that more people can give it a try and see if it really fix the problem.

If your iPhone "flickers" there is a problem in your phone that needs troubleshooting. See page 242 of the User Guide.

  • My IPad 4 goes dark right after "slide to unlock" appears...

    New user here...
When I turn on my IPad4, the Apple logo appears, then the "slide to unlock" bar...At this point, the "slide bar" is not operational.  If I try to slide it, nothing happens. After about 2 seconds, the screen goes black, as if it is going into sleep mode.  Then I push the home button, the screen comes back, and the slide bar operates normally, and everything operates normally thereafter.
    Two questions...
    1) Has anyone else seen this?
    2) It's annoying, is there any way to get it the slide bar to work right away?

    Ok, so here's the update...
I did the soft reset, and that didn't do anything.  It still behaved the same way.  I called Apple Support (this IPad is brand new), and they said to bring it back for an exchange.
So I exchanged it for the same unit, yesterday.
The first couple times I booted up the new unit yesterday, it was fine, slide to unlock worked.
Now today, this one is doing the exact same behavior. Slide to unlock isn't operational, and the screen does dark until I hit the home button to get the screen back. Then everything works fine.
I'm starting to think this is "normal", but I can't get anyone to confirm or deny that. No one else has this behavior?

  • IPhone freezes after slide to unlock

After update to 5.0.1 my iphone is now unable to be locked as when i slide to unlock it freezes (iphone 3gs)

As lots of users I am having the problem that my iPhone takes many seconds to unlock once I "slide to unlock" it could sometimes take 5 to 10 seconds before my telephone reacts.
This is really anoying, because I can't even pick up a phonecall when this happens, I have to wait untill my phone stops ringing, and then I suddenly can unlock the phone and I have to call that person back (this cant be the meaning of a phone)
I recently noticed that this must have to do with wifi. I disabled wifi for almost 2 weeks, and I never noticed the problem again. The moment I put wifi back on, the same problem starts again. the screen stays black when I want to get it out of sleep, and after a while it gets back to life.
The part that makes me angry is that I have this problem for a long time. and always everyone said to me it was because of the 'coma mode' so I supposed it to be a software problem and the update would fix it. Now last month my warranty and support expired, and I have updated my phone to the new 3.1.2 (which I tought would solve the problem) but now it seems not to be a software problem, and my phone is just not capable to run wifi and reacty normal at the same time! If I had known this earlyer I would have give it back to Apple, to get a new one, one that works while I still had warranty (last month). But since that coma mode problem I let my warranty expire and thought the new update would fix my problems.
So this leaves me with a phone advertised to have wifi, but actually is not able to use wifi. (at least not if you want to make sure you can answer your calls whenever they come in)
I know I won't get any feedback from Apple (I have to pay to get feedback of course) but I just wanted to say this.
Maybe this could help people with the same problem.

  • HT201406 Dropped iphone 4s, and touch screen wont read my finger when i slide to unlock or touch the buttons.

I recently dropped my Iphone 4s 32gig phone on the ground and the screen did not crack or anything. When i tried to slide to unlock it, nothing happened. It woudn't read my finger at all and the phone seemed fully functional (meaning i could click the unlock and lock buttons and home buttons and it all worked fine, it just seemed like the sensor was not reading my finger). So i figured it was a problem with the LCD screen so i purchased a new one and installed it correctly, and nothing happened. Something else is wrong with my iphone and i have no clue what to do. Can anyone help me?

If you are saying you have repaired the iPhone by replacing parts then you have voided any warranty ,if relevant and any other further support from Apple .
Apple do not sell spare parts so who knows what you have done to the iPhone but nothing that Apple will now help with

  • IPod Touch is stuck on loading screen after slide to unlock. HELP!

So, my iPod touch 4G is stuck on the loading screen after i unlock it. Just wondering if anyone is having the same problem. Just had my iTouch in less than a week! Help please! thank you

    - First try a reset. Nothing is lost:
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next connect to computer and restore if you can.
    - If the loading screen still shows, let the batter fully drain. After charging for an hour try the above again.

  • After "slide to unlock" keeps ringing

    Hello,
I've got an iPhone 5c and sometimes when I receive a message and unlock my phone, it keeps ringing to say I have a message whilst I'm reading the message.
The only way to turn the ringing off is to press the top button... Otherwise it keeps ringing until it's finished.
I've looked everywhere for a solution, does anyone else have one?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello Jesper girl,
Thank you for providing the details of the issue you are experiencing with your iPhone continuing to ring after you unlock it.
I recommend following these steps for an issue like this (you can skip 4 because it does not relate to the issue you are experiencing and any other steps you may have taken):
If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close.
If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected, restart your device.
If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on),reset your device.
If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
Let charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more about restoring iOS software.
If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.
You can find the full article here:

    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3281
If you get to step 5, I recommend backing up your iPhone before performing the restore:

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • (2.2 3G) Phone goes blank after slide to unlock

I just upgraded the software of my 3G iphone to 2.2. Since then I have had problems in dim light with the phone being dark after unlocking or ending a call.
I have determined it has something to do with the auto-brightness feature. The new software in dim light make the displayim you can't see it. I have been able to hear the key click but not see it.
I figured out it is the auto-brightness because it only happens in the evening after dark and I am outside or in car.
I have been able to work around by turning off auto-brightness feature and phone works fine.

Have seen a few report it...all have said just turning auto off, adjust, then turn it back on and all is good.

  • IPod touch Battery Problems Since iOS 7 was installed last year.

Hello, I've had recurring battery problems with my iPod touch since the iOS 7 update was installed, and I find myself having to charge my iPod touch (5th Generation) a lot more frequently since I installed this update.
On iOS 6, I had never experienced any problems with the iPod touch's battery, as I was able to let the battery drain down completely, and let it charge for 4 hours (recommended). After the iPod touch was fully charged for 4 whole hours, I was able to unplug the lightning cable, and the iPod touch on its own would last a few days to at least a week or two weeks.
On iOS 7, since it saw its general release on the 18th September last year, I have found that the iPod's battery has drained so bad, that it dies too quickly, and when I put the iPod touch on charge, in almost an hour, the iPod touch tells me that it is 100% charged. However, when I take the iPod touch off its charge after it fully charges for that hour, it quickly drains down again.
I have gone through the standard procedure of restoring my iPod touch to its factory settings, and I have seen absolutely no improvement on the battery life whatsoever. I mainly back up whatever is on my iPod touch (I back up pictures, videos and also transfer updates that I have installed for certain apps onto iTunes), though I have seen how some people have backed up the data on their iPod's or iPhones, only they find their iDevice draining so quickly.
Even turning off certain features in the Settings app to improve the battery life doesn't help, as there is almost no difference that solves the problems I'm currently having with the iPod touch's battery.
I recently heard about the free iPhone battery replacement program which is now available, so I'm starting to worry whether I have to pay for a new replacement battery for my iPod touch.
Your help in this matter would be gratefully appreciated.
    Many kind regards,
    Alex Smithson

I mainly charge the iPod touch itself for four hours and it still doesn't make a difference. I've had my iPod touch for almost 2 years and since I installed iOS 7, it still doesn't make a difference.
I was wondering, if the article you have provided doesn't sort the problems with the battery out, is there another alternative??
Your help and advice is most appreciated.
    Many kind regards,

  • HT201412 My lock screen is frozen. It will not let me slide to unlock or anything. I can't power it off because my lock button is broken and I can't do the assistive touch thing? Help!

My lock screen is frozen! It will not let me slide to unlock or touch the screen at all. I can't power it down either because the lock button is broken. A friend of mine said I might need a new Digitizer? Is there anyway I can avoid that? Pleasae Help!

I am having the SAME exact problem! Except instead of lock button broken it's my home button so I can't do the whole "put in recovery mode" deal. My screen only says "tap the home button 3 times" and it has my screen locked until I hit the home button but since it is broken I can't get in my phone at all. I have all of my work info in my phone so I'm screwed and can't get any help. PLEASE let me know if you find a way around this...!!!
    Thanks!

    Try this...
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...

  • Why does my iPod touch turn off right after I slide to unlock?

I have a third generation iPod touch that used to work just fine. However, it won't turn on unless charging and as soon as I slide to unlock it, the slide to power off option turns on. Despite cancelling it, it automatically turns off. It's very frustrating and I've tried restoring it, but to no avail. The problem continues.
Any suggestions as to how to get it up and functioning properly again?

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Ipod touch not recognised by Itunes and will not slide to unlock.

    Hi,
I got my Ipod touch 32GB 3rd gen for christmas last year, my battery ran flat some time last week. When i plugged it into my computer via USB to charge, it charged for a few minutes then stoped. When i looked and tryed to unlock the Ipod, it will not slide to unlock, same with the slide to power off, I have pushed both home and power botton to reset; both plugged into compter and not however after the reset it still will not unlock. when pluged into itunes i get a message saying it needs a full factory settings restore, i start that process, however i am shown an error message which reads "the Ipod software update server could not be contacted. An unknown error occured (1612)".
Sorry about the long post, can anyone help, has this sort of thing happened with anyone else before?
Any help would be much appreciated.

    Oroilore-
I do not see a way to disable the Picture Frame icon.  I looked at Settings-Picture Frame, but none of the options turns it off.  The only way I can thinik of, would be if all of your photos had been deleted.  If there were no photos, you couldn't have a slide show!
One thing to try is to reset (reboot) your iPad.  Hold both the Home and Sleep buttons for several seconds until the Apple logo appears.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" arrow.  The iPad will restart after a couple of minutes.  Resetting this way will not hurt anything, and sometimes clears up mysterious problems.
