After software update for Lexmark printer, cannot print document as a file is missing. My iMac runs with Snow Leopard.

I have a Lexmark 3500 - 4500 series printer connected to my iMac via USB (as my iMac won't do the printing wirelessly. My iMac runs with Mac OS X, Snow Leopard, Version 10.6.8.
A few days ago, there were several software updates that I have installed as there was mention that they were for Mac OS X Lion.
Today, I tried to print a document, and it failed. The error message was: "Missing component: /Library/Printers/Lexmark/Drivers/.Resources/3500-4500 Series Color 2.lut".
I have re-installed the software from Lexmark without success.
Has anyone had a similar issue who can advise me, please?
Thank you.
Philippe

Have you tried installing the Lexmark software from the Apple site:
Lexmark Printer Drivers v2.4 for Mac OS X v10.6
You are running 10.6 which the above link is for, maybe Lion (10.7) doesn't need everything that 10.6 does. Try re-installing using the above link.

Make sure you read the system requirements. Also install Rosetta if you want Power PC applications to run.
    Snow Leopard Purchase
Check that your computer is compatible with Mountain Lion/Mavericks.
To check the model number hold down the option/alt key, go to the Apple menu and select System Information.
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) model number 3,1 or higher
    Your Mac needs:
OS X v10.6.8 or OS X Lion already installed
2 GB or more of memory (More is better - 4 GB minimum seems to be the consensus)
8 GB or more of available space
If your computer isn’t compatible, you might be able to upgrade to Lion.

Check to make sure your applications are compatible. PowerPC applications are no longer supported after 10.6.

  • Software Update for Lexmark Printers

When running software update it shows an update for Lexmark printers. If this software is used the printer does not function. Lexmark recommends manually downloading their latest drivers from their web site. I did and the printer now functions, but software update still shows that a download is required.
I looked at the software update information on Apple's web page and it shows a method to disregard update recommendations, but my software update does not have the capabilities they show.
I would love to get rid of the Lexmark update message.
All other updates have worked including the newest one for Snow Leopard.

I would love to get rid of the Lexmark update message.

  • Pages 4.2 update doesn't run with Snow Leopard

I keep both Montain Lion and Snow Leopard on the same computer, different partitions. After upgrading Pages this week, it no longer runs under Snow Leopard.  The icon changes and a launch message says I can't use this version with Snow Leopard. It looks like this is true of all the iWorks apps. This is the first time I recall the iWorks suite not being backwards compatible.
My advice is to keep a backup copy or older iWorks releases if you need to run Snow Leopard. The App store only has the Mountain Lion version so I can't just download the SnowLeopard compatible version.

The same exact thing happened to me. I have a thread on this same issue but no one has responded. Did you find a way around this?

  • After downloading Lion the noise level of the fans increased. A noise which did not exist with Snow Leopard. Any ideas how to reduce noise?

After downloading Lion the noise level of (what I believe to be ) the fans increased. A humming noise which did not exist with Snow Leopard. Any ideas how to reduce this noise?

I have seen this mentioned a dozen times, here, on Lion, and MacRumors.
    Nope. Usual suspects.
And whether you tried a clean install instead (backup and erase) and then use MA to import

Firefox bookmarks and toolbar were deleted after a software update from my mac computer - an update from Microsoft - affecting word & firefox. The restore function within the bookmark section does not work - it shows the back ups but then states "unable to process the backup file"

  • Why i cannot restore back after software update?, why i cannot restore back after software update?, why i cannot restore back after software update?

Why i cannot restore back after update software?

    What does "restore back" mean?
If it means go backwards to some earlier version of iOS, then Apple has never allowed that.
If it means reload the contents of your iPhone after doing a software update, you should be able to do that.

  • Battery failure after software update for nokia n8...

I recently upgraded my n86 with the latest firmware..now the problem is the battery dies very fast .The phone gets heated while on charge and even after leaving it 5 hours on the charger the phone is still showing that it is charging.plz help...

Hmm, I'm about to think this could be a faulty battery. Do you have any spare battery to try?
Anyway, I don't know what a Nokia care point would do, as I don't actually know what's wrong with your device. There could also be a hardware fault in your device which accidentally appeard at the same time you did the upgrade.
Click the "contact us" link at the top of this page to get contact information and find your nearest care point.
You cannot roll back to older fw.

  • After installing update for Pages 5.0.1 documents won't open

    Hi,
Was running Pages 4.3 on Maverrick 10.9.1
I got a notification that an update was available. I clicked to update the application. Pages 5.0.1 was installed. It launches. It seems I can create new documents as well.
However, I’m unable to open my previous documents. Moreover, I can’t seem to open them with the old Pages version (4.3) either. When I right-click the icon in the dock, the old documents that were open when the update occurs are listed. But I can’t get them on screen.
Is there a cache to clear? Shall I restart? Any suggestions will be appreciated.
    P.

    A restart solved the issue.

  • HT1199 My 2007 Black Macbook was running snow leopard my iPhoto would not open saying that It needed to be updated. I tried to but I couldn't because the version 11 is incompatible with snow leopard. I upgraded my software to lion, iPhoto still won't open

Does anyone know how to solve these iphoto problems?

Terrance thank you so much for responding. I was able to finally get my photo library to open by resetting the permissions then completing an upgrade. I accomplished this by reading through a number of posts here by you and others. Therefore I extend my thanks to you and everyone in the support network.

  • Errors afyer software update for my Z10

Right after software update for my bb z10, i can not opewn now setrings, notification and wifi. How can I fix this? Please help

I suggest you try the very clean and very forceful AutoLoader method:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-10-OS-Device-Software/Upgrading-OS10-devices-using...
Beware that it is completely destructive...the device will be "like new"...no data, no apps, no accounts, etc. Be sure you take a full backup first, as well as make full manual documentation of all apps, accounts, configurations, etc. Sometimes a restore reintroduces the very corruption one is trying to eliminate, and manual reconfiguration is necessary.
You can also use this to fall back to a prior OS if you desire...you can install any OS level for which you can find an AutoLoader. (Hint...search over on the CB site!)
Good luck and let us know!

I haven't had that problem myself, but the next time you're led to reinstall Mac OS X, once you pass the language selection screen you should see a "Utilities" menu bar item that will let you run Disk Utility. Do that and invoke "Repair Disk" and "Repair Permissions", then see if you're able to boot from your internal disk.

  • I9900 printing options with snow leopard

I have recently (3 weeks ago) purchased an imac 27" with snow leopard, I have an i9900 canon printer. When I add the printer and download the most recent driver per canon. I have no options (print quality, media type...nothing) the only option I have is page attributes. This is with any program word, CS4 etc.

If someone could explain to me how to delete a printer correctly or do I go to the preferences and highlight the i9900 and click - sign. Then explain the proper procedure to connect and install driver maybe I can try that and see if it works. I would greatly appreciate the help. I did go to the canon website and download the most up to date driver as per canons directions.

  • Software Update for Brother printers disabled my printer

This morning I installed a Software Update for Brother printers and now I can't print.  Every time I try, I was gettting an error message that says some of my software is missing and it asked if I wanted to install it.  A window opened looked like it was looking in Software Update and it didn't find any software.  I deleted the printer in Printers and Faxes and downloaded the CUPS driver from Brother that says it's compatible with OS 10.7.  Now I can't add the printer.  When I go through the steps to add the printer, for Print Using I select HL-2140 series, which is the model of my printer.  I click on Add and the Add Printer window starts looking for the printer software, but I think it's looking in Software Update.  The message comes up "the software for this printer is currently unavailabe.  Please contact the printer's manufacturer for the latest software.  I did that, but how can I get it to use the driver I downloaded from Brother instead of looking for it in Software Update?

This helped with both my Brother printer and my HP AIO.  I was having marginal printer function after installing OS X Lion, then replace the Airport Express with an Airport Extreme.  That knocked out everything....After several days of loading and reloading programs in different permutations, this relatively simple step was the charm.
    THANKS!!
