After software update Microsoft usb mouse no longer works. System Profiler "sees" usb mouse. I took my macbook to the Genius Bar at Apple and they were not able to help. Pretty lame....
any ideas on how to solva this?

After Software Update, USB Power Issues and Cursor Freezing
I have a 1.8 dual g5. After the latest software update I experienced some seriously quirky usb power fluctuations, a card reader frying and sudden, but temporary, mouse cursor freezing. I did some research and went for a clean install from original Leopard disc and downloaded the combo update 10.5.2 from apple support. I then restarted in "safe mode" and ran the 10.5.2 update, restarted, zapped the pram, restarted to disc warrior to repair permissions and clean the drive... then restarted again. Same deal: Spinning lines on gray 1-2 minute. black (sometimes white) screen 3-5 minutes. blue screen 1-2 minutes. log in.
Tried cocktail, disc utility permission repair and removing log-in applications/drivers. Same deal... ****** computing. I feel like it's 1999 all over again.
Cost me three full days work so far under a very tight deadline and a lot of stress..... Apple is 100% responsible for this messy release and needs to address it quickly.My problem is similar to the others already posted, but quite different too. Perhaps someone else has had this strange issue occur. I attach my nike+ receiver and set my workout as usual, and then I come to selecting playlists. I select my playlist (which is titled running) and my work out starts. HOWEVER, the playlist that I selected plays music from another playlist such as sarah mclachlan (which is not in my running playlist). I have tried everything that you guys already posted short of doing a restore. Any thoughts? I posted this same question on the nikeplus.com web forum but no one has replied. I can find no sequence to the playlist malfunction. For example say I choose to play my sarah mclachlan playlist it will play my irish playlist instead and so forth. Make sense? HELP!!!!!

Having my Telus email refusing to send attachment (one meg picture), without attachment everything is OK, can receive attachments. Weird thing is my live.ca account works perfectly. All that happens is the clock and sending icon would alternate (left it for a couple of hours - still the same). Same result using Wi-Fi or LTE, 4G. So called tech support @ Telus and they have no solution and have two Z10 with same problem sending attachment but on Gmail account. They are sending a ticket to Blackberry to see if problem can be resolved.
Emails were working perfectly before software ugrade three days ago. Anyone else having these issues? Ideas to resolve?FINALLY, after TWO full months of waiting and checking every day, the problem has been resolved. I'm disappointed that Blackberry took so long to fix, but happy that my email can finally send attachments. Also disappointed that I was not notified of the fix by my provider Telus (which they said they would). Hopefully the problem is permanently resolved and won't re-appear after another software update.

Software Update and Installer no longer work
I have a PowerMac G5 tower and a iBook G4. Both were prompted to automatically update to 10.4.11-- my laptop is fine. My PowerMac, however, can no longer launch the Software Installer. I tried downloading 10.4.11 as a standalone to install it, but that is when I discovered the Installer no longer works-- is quits unexpectedly.
Are there any fixes I can try before reinstalling the entire ops system? Or, since I'm toying with the idea of buying Leopard anyway, should I skip the reinstall of Tiger altogether? Thanks in advance for your help!I seem to be having the same problem. When I download an application (.app) and than click on the box to open it , it shakes for a moment but nothing happens.I have tried a number of different applications with the same result. So there has to be something wrong with the INSTALLER. But then I have the same problem with my disk utility. Thats when I booted up from my CD and used the disk utility there to clean up the permissions and repaired the disk. Every thing worked fine but did not fix the installer or disk utility on the computer.
I am waiting now to see if we get some suggestions before I try an Archive re-install. -
My external usb mouse no longer works on my dv7-3085dx.
My HP Pavilion dv7-3085dx, running Windows 7 64-bit, is having issues recognizing the external usb mouse. Normally the mouse will work a few seconds to minutes before the computer makes the sound that the usb has been unplugged (even thouugh it has not) I have tested the mouse on all the usb ports and on several other computers to make sure it wasn't an issue with the mouse cord. Furthermore, I have tried using several different usb mice with the same results. I have also tried using other usb devices on my laptop (e.g. usb storage devices and cooling fan) with no issues to their performance and no usb device disconnect sound. Any help would be greatly appreciated as using only the touchpad makes gaming more of a challenge than I'm ready for.

As per the issue you have mentioned it seems like the HID compliant mouse had been disabled .
Try to open device manager (Click on start type in device manager in Search programs and files click on device manager ) and that will open new window device manager go to Mice and other pointing devices click on the small arrow next to Mice and other pointing devices check to see if there is a down arrow on HID-compliant mouse if found right click on it and click on enable which will enable the Usb mouse

Pretty much what the question says. I updated to the latest Firefox, and now this really irritating thing happens.... It happens lots of places too. Some specific things:
* Clicking on the address bar at all does not bring up the little flashing cursor thing, and generally gives me no indication that I've actually clicked on the URL. Same with that little google search thing in the upper right.
* Most frustratingly, when I press enter after putting in a URL, it won't even go to the site.
* After getting annoyed at both of those things, I try to type in something on a website, and though the URL stays the same, it starts dropping down a lot of suggestions from my history.
* Lastly, when I'm doing my crosswords on Washington Post and I switch to a different tab to type something on there, it doesn't switch my typing thing over - it stays on the crossword, typing things into that rather than into the typing field I clicked on to start typing in.
So, yeah, this is highly annoying, and I'd love for any help for these issues...
I did look at the FAQs, and they said something about the AVG SafeSearch thing causing one of my problems, but I don't have that extension, so it's definitely not that!The AVG Safe Search extension can cause problems with the Enter key not working in the location bar.

When I load my home page, the items MOVIES THEATER and my STOCK QUOTES will not load. If I try to make ANY changes to my home page it changes from my.msn.com changes to my.msn.com/x and nothing will happen.

USB Audio stopped working on 27" ACD after software update 1.0
Hi all,
My 27" ACD worked flawlessly until I installed 27-inch LED Cinema Display Software Update 1.0 earlier tonight. I have a unibody MacBook Pro that doesn't output audio from the mini displayport, when I got the ACD Friday, USB audio output worked fine. I also have a 24" ACD and audio worked fine on that as well. But after software update 1.0, I can no longer get audio output of the 27" ACD to work via USB, I even rebooted my Mac and it still doesn't work. After trying it a few times in Sound.prefPane, I now can't even select the "Display Audio - USB" option (when I click on it it reverts to the other option right away).
From /var/log/system.log, I believe this is the error related error message:
System Preferences[332]: Error ^P trying to set sOut device to 264
Message was edited by: aynI have this problem too. I have the 27-inch LED cinema display connected to my Mac Pro 1,1 via the Radeon 5770. I also suspected it had something to do with the machine going to sleep, but the audio doesn't disappear every time it goes to sleep. Unplugging the monitor fixes the problem.
I also noticed that when the sound has went away, if I try to change the volume there will be a long delay before seeing the volume-change graphic. Also, toggling the sound device in System Preferences while the problem is in effect is unresponsive, sometimes giving the beach ball. Finally, this message is seen in console logs when the sound has went away:

I can make this message appear on demand by attempting to change the volume.

After updating my 3GS with ios5, my BMW usb interface no longer works
After updating my iPhone 3gs with ios 5, my BMW usb interface no longer works. I can no longer see my music on the screen and cannot control my music. I tried my old Nano in my car and that works so I'm thinking it must be something with ios 5. Any suggestions?
Update: I was able to resolve the problem by re-syncing the music on my iPhone in iTunes and then shutting down the phone and restarting it. After that, I connected the usb cable from my car to the phone and it worked.

I was running the newest version of Snow Leopard, and after running Software update, I can no longer run, open, sync or use iTunes in any way. PLEASE what happened?

Ever since I received my Macbook Pro in July 2011 I've had issues with my wireless connection at home. After software updates, Apple support suggested I reboot my router which works. But now I have to do it every other day. ???? AT&T my DSL carrier suggests I get a new router. Apparently the one I have is really old and doesn't support my Macbook Pro. Does this sound right?
If your using WEP encryption yes, Apple has discontinued that becaues it's worthless. WEP (and WPA) is cracked so encryption makes no sense.
Get a new Wireless N router, set it up with WPA2 (AES) Personal and two different 20+ randon letter/numbersymbol character passwords
One for Admin access only of the router, keep this on paper off all comptuers in a safe someplace.
One for entering into devices, computers etc for Internet Access Only.
You need the long and random password to defeat brute force attacks by GPU software that the hackers have now.
Also if you give out the password to another, they can't hack the network with the guest access password.
Computers remember the internet password, so anyone with access to your machines or network will have the password.
Since you have another Admin only password, they can't hack in. got it?
You don't need "Invisible" or "MAC Address filtering" that's a waste of time as hackers can sniff a network and causes issues getting on the network.

After software update (Sept. '09) apps don't work and some missing
Plugged my phone in and itunes said there was an update I needed to install. Did that then it said there was a problem with the phone and it needed to be formatted before itunes could read it, did that too. Then while it was syncing up again after formatting it kept telling me there was a problem and items could not be found. All downloaded apps, some are missing completely from the phone, are no longer working. HELP!

Perhaps the OP doesn't connect the iPhone to the computer very often.

Double Click on Magic Mouse No Longer Works after 10.9.1 Mavericks Upgrade
I just recently updated to Mavericks 10.9.1 and once the computer restarted, I noticed that double-click on my Magic Mouse no longer worked. I searched the forum and couldn't find anyone experiencing this. I also went into System Preferences --> Mouse but there is nothing about enabling double-click or adjusting double-click speed on there.
Would appreciate if someone were able to help me solve this. Thanks!Try resetting the PRAM.

Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys. -
Under the Mac Yosemite 10.10.2 O.S. -- the System Preferences: Java pane/ctrl-panel: Update-tab-function no-longer works, after updting to Java 8v40 JRE & SDK -- says that the internet connection is not valid !
A few questions....I assume your network is connected to the Internet? Do you use a proxy? If so, is it set in the browser or in the Java Control Panel?
