After switching to a SSD, Boot Camp on a second HD isn't working

I'm on a Mac Pro 2008, and switched my startup disk from a regular HD to a SSD using Carbon Copy Cloner and making an exact replica of the drive. Everything with that process went very smoothly and I encountered no issues.
I have a separate HD installed that is used entirely for Boot Camp with a working Windows 7 install. This disk was unchanged during the transition from the old HD to the new SSD.
Before the switch to the SSD Boot Camp and Windows 7 worked fine, but now when attempting to startup using the Boot Camp hard drive, it will sit at a black screen with a blinking cursor and nothing will happen.
The Boot Camp drive appears correctly in my Startup Disk system preferences (although the icon is a folder, but I'm pretty sure that's how it was before), and I can even run the Boot Camp drive successfully using VMWare Fusion while on the Mac side, the issue occurs when trying to boot using that as the startup disk.
I'm assuming I'll just have to erase/format the Bootcamp disk and reinstall Windows on it, but I'd rather not have to do that if there is some way to get this to work.

Time in my mac changes after switching to Windows with Boot camp

Hi there..
I don't know whether this is normal, but every time I switch from Windows back to Mac OS (Using Boot camp-all versions I've tried have this flaw, it hasn't appeared in case of Parallels), system time changes in one hour ahead. Can anybody explain this to me, is it something that can't change or just a flaw in Boot camp, waiting to be corrected? What should I do to prevent it from doing so again?

ok.. though you might've answered my question, is there any solution to this issue? Though I don't know what dst flag in windows is, I noticed that my time zone is in both cases set to gmt+1, which could possibly cause the switching in one hour ahead... but I wonder can I solve it not by setting the option to gmt 0? In that case the automatic correcting of my changed time via the internet would be in my opinion better than actually 'solving' it by setting my time in both OS' to gmt 0, which would mean that in wouldn' be corrected in a correct way via internet any more... so what do you think, is just letting it be the only solution i can consider?

Installing boot camp on a second drive

First let me apologize for this long-winded post and also for my lack of basic knowledge when it comes to mac computer skills.
I would like to install windows 7 on a brand new 500gb drive in a brand new mac pro.
I was reading through the installation & setup up guide for boot camp and was stonewalled on page 6 it says;
“If your computer has more than one internal disk and you want to install Boot Camp on a disk that isn’t in the first hard drive bay, remove the drives in the lower numbered bays. You can reinstall the drives after you install Boot Camp.”
Ok that makes sense but if I remove the first drive how do I install boot camp since the first drive contains boot camp on it?
The next question I have is; Can I make the whole 500gb drive one partition that will have boot camp, windows 7 and all the windows files on it or does it have to have just boot camp and windows 7?

Shutdown - pull OS X drive(s) - continue with install.
You'll have to change to NTFS when you get to where to install.
At that point you can even format or partition.
As for the Assistant, well, some install Windows 7 on a drive without it (that can't be done with XP) and just leave one drive and boot from Win 7 DVD.

There IS NO "boot camp." The assistant modified the partition table to include a standard MBR for booting Windows. And that would be on the #2 500GB.
Until you install the Apple setup.exe drivers and services after Windows is installed from your OS X DVD, there is nothing in or on Windows that is faintly about boot camp. Unfortunate term. It also gets to become a control panel in Windows to change the default startup OS (why not call it Apple OS Switcher / Apple Startup Disk).
There will be AppleTimeServices and AppleOSSwitcher services along with HAL and device drivers to enable them in Device Manager.
As for lowered numbered and first drive bay, they must think Mac Pro owners are locked into and only boot from drive bay #1. and that Assistant is a very limited not very smart partitioning tool is true.
So run Assistant but instead of restarting with the DVD and install, just shutdown. Pull all the other drives but 500GB. Then boot off the DVD.

Black screen with no cursor after installing Windows 7 through Boot Camp on Retina MBP

Hey all.
So, I have a Retina Macbook Pro (15", late 2013). A couple weeks ago I tried to install Windows 7 on it through Boot Camp.
After some struggles with trying to repair my disk with Disk Utility and having to recover the system etc, I finally managed to actually install Windows 7. However, after the installing was ready, when Windows was supposed to boot, it just gave me a black screen with no cursor. I really had no idea what to do there, I tried to do some research from google but only found answers regarding a black screen with a cursor DURING the installation. However, I managed to launch Windows in safe mode. I deleted graphics drivers that bootcamp assistant had installed, and then it worked and I got to boot Windows succesfully.
However, as probably all of you know, you can't do much without those drivers. Games, videos, overall performance of the system is kinda horrible.
After that, I wiped the whole system, Mac and Windows, and reinstalled Mac. During the Windows installation I was running on Mavericks, now I've got Yosemite. I might try installing Windows again next week, does anyone have any clue why the black screen happened? What could I have done wrong? And the most important question in my mind, in case that happens, is there any way to install the graphics drivers manually from somewhere? After I uninstalled 'em earlier, I tried to find them manually, but couldn't find any.

Yes, that's exactly what was the problem in the first place, I had a USB3 device. Switched to USB2 device and the installation progress started flawlessly.
The later part I didn't quite get. What are those installation methods, how could they cause the problem there? I had no problems during the installation, but after installation when launching Windows I had the black screen, and that I suppose was GPU drivers problem if I'm not totally wrong? I could hear the basic Windows system beeps etc when I tried clicking everywhere (had no cursor either, just clicking randomly), so the system was running there, but just didn't draw the picture at all.

A lot of problems after installing Windows XP using Boot Camp on a Mac Book

I have been having a lot of problems after installing Windows XP Home Edition (2002).
For one, after installing Windows using Boot Camp with Mac OS X 10.5.1, I opened Windows on my Mac Book, inserted the Mac OS X Disk 1 as in the instructions and got the message: +"This package requires a newer version of the Windows installer. Do you want to update the version of the Windows Installer on your system?"+ When I clicked Yes (I had NO idea what it meant at the time), I got the message: "The required resource 'UPDATE' is missing" and the Installer quit.
How do I fix this problem?
Another problem I have is that there is no sound on the Windows XP, yet it works perfectly on Mac OS X. Is there any way to fix this problem?
A third problem I have is that I can't wirelessly connect to the internet using Window XP, yet I can on Mac OS X. I have no idea on how to fix this, and it's really messing with me. D:<
D: There are way too many problems, and I have a feeling there will be a lot more later on. Help....

I cannot continue to windows 7 64 bit setup after i make partition in boot camp

i get black screen after i make partition through bootcamp and pc restarts. i tried keeping ALT option to boot from DVD but still the same. i booted from OSX and i can see BOOTCAMP drive but i dont see it in my STARTUP drives. ?

Today (26-12-2012) there came a message that there was a new update for Boot Camp (something with Boot Camp 3.3 I saw). I installed the new update but when my Macbook restrated I tried if my functionkeys (like volume and brightness) correctly worked but indeed they didn't worked after the update.
I restarted my Macbook like 10 times but it still doesn't work
I hope you guys have a solution for me so the functionkeys will work correctly.

Time Machine stuck at "Looking for backup disk" after installing Windows 8 via Boot Camp

I've been backing up via Time Machine to an external USB drive and it's been working fine. I recenty installed Windows 8 via Boot Camp and now TM gets stuck forever at "Looking for backup disk...".
I've tried the following, to no avail:
Using "Select Disk" in TM preferences to re-select the disk
Deleting /Library/Preferences/com.apple.TimeMachine.plist
Running system maintenance via Onyx
Resetting PRAM
Formatting the drive and setting it up for TM backups again
The Boot Camp partition is on the same drive as OS X (on a 180GB Intel 330 series SSD). During the Windows installation I re-formatted the partition as NTFS.
If I start OS X in Safe Boot mode, TM backups work. In Safe Boot mode, the NTFS partition isn't loaded so I suspect it has something to do with this. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

After 10.8.3 update, Boot Camp Assistant not recognizing my 64-bit Windows 8 disc

Yesterday I got back from spring break and found out there was a new update to ML (10.8.3). After reading a bit, I found out that the new update supported Windows 8 via Bootcamp, so I uninstalled the old Windows 8 I ages ago via Boot Camp Assistant, and updated my OS to 10.8.3. Then, after attempting to install Windows 8 via Boot Camp Assistant, now it rejects my legit copy of Windows 8 Pro 64-bit, with a message saying, "Need 64-bit Windows 8"
A few months after Windows 8 came out, I read up an online guide to install Windows 8 without Apple's official support and it WORKED just fine. I just wanted to reinstall using the official support this time, and see what I get. Haha.
Please help me if you have a solution to this. (No way buying another copy of Windows 8)

Had this problem too, found a solution.
1) Download the 64bit Windows 8 Enterprise Evaluation. (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/jj554510.aspx)
2) Go through the Boot Camp process, selecting the downloaded .iso as your image.
3) As soon as your computer restarts, hold the option key. Boot back into OSX.
4) Go through the boot camp process again, BUT only ticking the first two options (in other words, don't touch the partition) selecting your original Windows 8 copy as your image.
5) Reboot while pressing the option key, select the (in my case) USB.
6) Proceed as normal - worked for me.

Unable to boot mac OS X Lion after windows 7 installation using boot camp!

I'm first time mac user & recently bought the latest entry level mac mini model 2.3GHz 599$ (http://www.apple.com/macmini/specs.html).
The machine by default came with OS X Lion.
I was trying to install genuine windows 7 on my mac mini using boot camp. I had the windows installation CD the download part for windows support software was taking too long & I foolishly skipped this crucial part set aside 70GB for win7 & continued the installation. The windows installation was done successfully with no machine specific drivers installed yet. I thought I would get some grub like thing to select OS at boot time but everytime it boots to windows. Is it since I missed downloading/installing windows support software? Please help me out to get my mac back
I've not done much of googling to troubleshoot it but bit of nervous for my foolishness at skipping that downloading part.

Boot Camp Windows install format to NTFS not working.

As a preface I am new to Apple and more complex computer issues in general. With that said I have spent several hours trying to get Windows 8.1 installed from the DVD media to a partition created using Boot Camp Assistant. I have tried several suggestions and looked through many threads, blogs and articles and none seem to have the correct answer. Below are the steps that I have followed and the issue that I run into every time.
Open Boot Camp Assistant
     Select Download the latest Windows support software from Apple
     Select Install Windows 7 or later version
     Download support software to USB Drive (leave connected)
     Create a Partition (200GB)
Hold Option on Reboot and Select Windows
Begin the Windows install process
Select Custom: Install Windows only (advanced)
Installation asks: Where do you want to install Windows?
Select Drive 0 partition 4: BOOTCAMP
     Error Message Details:
          Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT partition style.
          Windows cannot be installed to this hard disk space. Windows must be installed to a partition formatted as NTFS.
Solution I found from many threads is that I need to "Format" the partition. To do so I:
     Select Drive 0 Partition 4: BOOTCAMP
     Select Format
     Select Drive 0 Partition 4 (No longer titled as BOOTCAMP after the reformat)
          Error Message Details:
               Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT partition style.
I cant seem to find a solution to this. Any help would be appreciated. I have tried removing all other connected drives and devices, and recreating the partition several times with no luck.

I also have VMware Fusion installed on the machine and already used the Windows installation media to create a virtual machine. Is it possible to transfer my virtual machine to a Boot Camp partition? I did a little research and it looks as though thats not possible (at least not easily) but I figured I'd ask anyway.

The installation media I purchased is for windows 8.1. Is that the issue? Do I need to install 8 not 8.1?

Installing Boot Camp on a second internal disk

Ok, so I searched the forums for quite some time on this, but couldn't really find the information I was looking for. Really, I just want to share my experience of installing Windows XP 64bit on a second internal disk, operating with leopard 10.5.2 on an dual quad core Intel box:
The directions for boot camp are specific to installing windows on a partition from your OS X drive and can be a bit confusing for people wanting to install on a secondary internal disk. When you first run boot camp, you are presented with 2 options, create or remove a windows partition or start the windows installer. If you have a partition already formatted for windows, use the second option. In my case, I wanted to create an entirely new windows partition.
You are then presented with the option to choose which drive you want to partition. I selected my second internal disk in bay 2, enabling the "erase disk and create a single partition for windows" option. Do not be fooled. This does not format the disk, it only makes a partition on the disk which you will then later format in the windows set-up. Clicked continue with the windows XP disk in the dvd drive, and the system will then make the partition and restart the computer into the ugly windows setup blue dialog screen.
Here's where I was confused. After loading some drivers, you are then presented with the option to format disks... If you were making a second partition on a pre-installed OS X disk, Boot Camp cleverly makes a title on that partition, telling you which is the correct disk to format <BOOTCAMP>. In my case, I was presented with three options. Disk 1 (J:), which had 300 gb, and disk two, which had two partitions in it already, one at 200mb (D:) and one at 280gb (C:).
DO NOT PICK YOUR OS X DRIVE!!! It will erase your entire mac system. The problem is, if your drives are exactly the same size, there is really NO WAY to tell the difference between the two in the windows setup except for some subtle hints. I unfortunately picked the wrong disk, and erased my machine into the ether.
However, after I reinstalled my OS X drive and tried the XP install again, I found there were clues as to which drive to format. Apparently, windows likes to be installed on drive C:. My background is with Mac, so I didn't catch that hint the first time around. Also, if I paid careful attention to the sizes of my drives, instead of guestimating they were both the same (the mac is just a bit larger than the second internal), I could have solved the puzzle long before I began banging my head on the desk.
Formating the drive is straight forward, but takes about 2 hours to do. Windows goes through it's setup, and before you know it, you have a quasi-functioning windows system on your mac. The final step is to reboot, hold down option, click the windows HD, have your OS X install disc 1 in the drive, then install the rest of the mac-windows driver (automatically does this for you).
Boom. You're done.
P.S. I was told by a apple rep that boot camp does not work with a 64 bit install of XP. It worked for me... eventually!

I understand that you were able to load windows on another internal disk beside the one where OSX resides. In my case I have two drives that are stripped (software raid). Will I be able use bootcamp with windows installed on a third internal disk dedicated to windows?

I have a new iMac and trying to install Windows 7 Pro using boot camp. I have reached the stage of starting to load windows from the DVD then discovered the mouse and the keyboards not working so I could not interact with windows installation.

Open, if not so already, the Windows formatter. Identify the BC Windows partition. It will be the one listed with the proper size you created and/or will be labeled as a C: drive. Be careful you select the right one or you may be corrupting the entire drive.
Format the partition as NTFS.

Boot Camp Update to 2.1 don't work

Hello,
I am new here. My MacBookPro runs now 2 years without problems.
I upgrade my HDD to a 500 GB model and it works fine.
The Windows Vista Business(now the English Version) don't accept the Boot Camp Update to Version 2.1.
Before I have used the German Vista Business and it works fine.
My Idea is, get the Boot Camp 2.1 from a new Installer DVD and install it. It should work. Or I wait until the Apple Update Service fix the problem.
I don't know? Do I really need this update? I update the Nvidia Driver allready separatly to fix a problem with my second screen and it run well.

Please tell me, if I am fail.
Boot Camp run perfectly on Vista 2.0 from my Leopard Installer DVD and 2.1 from the new Leopard DVD. I don't have one of the new DVD now, but a friend try it out allready. It run's. My question is, why I can't install Boot Camp 2.1 with Apple Software Update? In the German Version of Vista Business I don't have these problems. Why now with the English Version?
