After sync, Classic just continually reboots itself....HELP!

I have a 160 GB Classic and I loaded about 100 songs/albums to it last night via iTunes, sync'd it, disconnected the cable and then the ipod would turn on, show the apple logo, then turn off. None of the buttons on the unit have any effect.
This continues every 20 seconds or so - turns on, shows the logo, turns off, turns on, shows the logo, turns off.....
I imagine it is still doing that as I left it home this morning when I left for my office.
What do I try?
Walter

I had a similar problem after accepting an ipod software update on 1/4/08. The ipod had to restart to complete the update. Mine began the restart, with a progress bar appearing on the screen. After the progress bar was complete my ipod began restarting itself over and over again. White apple logo, then a restart after 20-30 seconds. Wasn't recognized in itunes or by Windows. The ipod kept doing this when I disconnected from the PC, tried connecting to another pc, and tried plugging in to an electrical outlet. I finally got it to start by following the "put into disk mode" instructions (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93651). I had the ipod connected to my computer when I did this, and I did have to press the "select" and "play" buttons immediately once the logo appeared after I pressed the "menu" and "select" buttons. Once in disk mode itunes recognized the ipod. I reset it via itunes and it synched & is working fine now. Hope this helps.

  • My ipod classic 160 GB continually reboots itself after crashing about a half hour ago.  How can I fix this?

Please help me figure out how to fix this situation, whether I can reset it or whether I need it serviced.  I tried the center and menu buttons, and again, it just kept rebooting itself.
I stopped upgrading iTunes at 10.3.1, so please don't suggest that I upgrade because I need my Front Row.  Plus, my iPod has been working for at least 6 months with 10.3.1.

  • Iphone 3g keeps rebooting itself - Help!

Since yesterday my iphone 3g has been going very slow. Today it decided just to give up on me completely. Wouldn't let me into any of my apps etc. So connected to my laptop, but gave me two error messages the first one being a number saying it was an error. The second one said that the iphone wouldn't let it connect.
It has now decided to just keep rebooting itself, taking about 5 minutes to load up & then flicks to home screen then reboots again. Tried holding in the off button & home at same time to over write the restart. Nothing.
Any suggestions would be grateful? Phone is just 2 years old!
    Thanks x

Restore it from you backup. Use Recover or DFU mode if iTunes won't recognize it.

Try downloading another app - any app - pick a free app and download it. See if that helps reset the iPad.
If that doesn't work, then reboot the iPad. Hold down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • My Ipod just keeps resetting itself.HELP!!!!

My 60 GB ipod video just keeps resetting itself. I have tried to reset it and plug it into my computer, what should I do??
    Windows   Windows XP

    Try the standard fixes:
    - Reset. Nothing is lost
Force an app to close: Hold down the On/Off button for a few seconds until a red slider appears,
then hold down the Home button until the app quits.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod
If still problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My ipod Classic continually reboots itself.  PLEASE HELP!

I get it to disk mode and then attach it to iTunes where it wants to restore the ipod to its latest software - which on mine is 1.1.2 everything looks good until it stops trying to restore and gives me an "unknown error 1430"
SO, I try to update my software through iTunes, then I get the iPod software update server could not be contacted.  There is nothing wrong with this server. It has been working fine all night until iTunes couldn't get through.  Every single new piece of information has a problem associated with it - this doesn't sound like the Apple that I once knew.  I just know I have a whole lot of work ahead of me on trying to fix this problem, and I've already been disappointed by Apple a few times lately.  If only Steve Jobs were still here - he'd get this ship back in order.  LOL!
Does anyone know a way for my ipod to work like it should again?
Thanks for letting me vent too, by the way.
    Erik

    I SOLVED THE PROBLEM !
for anyone else who else is having this problem.
Uncheck "Manually manage music" and when that question pops up, just click okay.
then Enable disk use will be checked.
    then everything works perfectly!

  • Lost all apps after syncing new iPad to macbook pro - HELP!!!

I tried to sync my new iPad to my macbook pro. I got a message saying all my new apps I bought on my iPad did not transfer. I did the whole deauthorize/authorize thing and restarted to no avail. Now when I try to use those apps on my iPad they don't work. The screen flickers and the I'm back at homescreen. I spent a good amount of money on these apps. Help please!!
I'm MAC OS 10.6.8 and the iPad is the latest running 5.1.1

If it's apps that you've downloaded from the store that you're having problems with, but not the Apple built-in ones, then try downloading any free app from the store (as that appears to reset something) and then re-try them - the free app can then be deleted.

  • IPad keeps rebooting itself after updating to iOS 8.3

Just updated an iPad 3 to iOS 8.3 from iOS 8.2 .  Update took a while to install (over 20 minutes) and then the Apple logo appeared for a bit then the screen went black for about 10  minutes.  The device was fine for a while and then started rebooting itself, hung on the Apple logo for about 10 minutes and now suddenly it came back.  All apps were up to date.  The device had not had any issues prior to the update.  Has anyone else had this issue?
    Thanks!

No, this is definitely an iOS 8.3 bug, Allen. I have an iPad mini (original, 24/12 old) and an iPhone 5 (not S, 18/12 old). Updated both from 8.2 to 8.3. I keep them and the apps up to date and run a tight ship.
Since the update, the iPhone has been behaving normally.
However, starting immediately after the update, the iPad has been rebooting: when you plug it into the power and it goes to sleep, it reboots itself. This NEVER ONCE happened before the 8.3 update -- and I think I started with this iPad on iOS5 or at least 6, with all the updates inbetween. If you want to use it again shortly after plugging it in, you have to wait about five-ten minutes (as other have reported).  So far, it has always rebooted successfully. But you do have to put in your passcode in response to "you have to enter your passcode upon rebooting" message; and tell it to trust your current computer connect once again.
It just now rebooted itself once again when plugged into the computer USB port, while in the middle of a sync (the screen went to sleep). Not happy about that; potential to damage data.
I confirm: this NEVER happened before 8.3, and it now reliably happens EVERY TIME I plug the iPad into power and it goes to sleep. I have three power sources (computer USB, individual Apple charger, aftermarket reserve battery charter) and it happens with all of them.
As far as I can tell, it only reboots itself once per charger-plugin, and doesn't do so again until you unplug it and plug it back in again (somewhat confident, but not 100% sure, of that).
Hope that helps. The bug needs squashing, and soon.

  • 160 GB iPod classic crashed when trying to view a video, and now just keeps rebooting. What can I do?

This is the third iPod classic this has happened to, so it's not a fluke.
I upoaded a video podcast from iTunes. The video name, etc. displayed properly in the iPod, but when I tried to open it, the iPod crashed and now just continuously reboots. My iMac does not recognize the iPod anymore.
    Any suggestions?

    Have you tried this?
    - iPod: Appears in Windows but not in iTunes
    - iPod not recognized in My Computer and in iTunes for Windows

  • IPhone 4 keeps rebooting itself every 1-2 minutes.

    Hi!
Yesterday I got my white iphone 4 parts that I changed out of my black parts through a guide on youtube. Everything went well and put in place, I turn it on and everything worked. Five minutes later my cellphone rebooted itself and I did not think it was anything to worry about. After that it just kept rebooting every minute. I thought it was wrong on the white parts, so I switched back to the black parts again but it continues even now. It works 5min until it gets "No Service" then the screen goes off and the phone reboots. There is also something odd about the battery meter, sometimes it can be 0% and sometimes 100% when it started again.
I have tried everything. Took everything out and put it back in again, done a clean restore from itunes, etc.. Do not know what more I can do.
Anyone know what to do or what the problem is?
    Thanks!

Seems like you are out of luck here. Your warranty is voided considering that you changed the black parts to the white parts. You even tried restoring, which that did not help. Even if you go to the Apple store, it is very unlikely that they will replace it, just because white models are not out and they can check what the actual color of the phone was through the serial number and the model number.
